We have booked and paid to go to London for a concert tomorrow night.
Leaving at 6.30 pm tonight
She rang a hour ago saying she was ill with sickness bug and can't go.
It's too late to find anyone else to go.
So I'm loosing out on £90 train
£150 hotel and £79 concert ticket :-(
Do I go alone?
I know I won't enjoy it alone tho
Tomorrow was meant to be shopping then concert ..coming home on Saturday
Gutted

Go on your own. Plenty to keep a solo traveller occupied in London. And I'd go to the concert too, it's not like you can socialise much with loud music.

Think of all the things you'd love to do in London and now you don't have to compromise on.

QuestionableMouse · 30/08/2018 15:41

Go! I've just booked myself a few days away at the seaside and I can't wait.

LittleKitty1985 · 30/08/2018 15:42

Are you mad at your flaky friend? I'd be furious. If I were in her shoes I'd rather dose myself up on cold and flu capsules and get on with it than let down a friend so badly!

DPotter · 30/08/2018 15:43

Go!!! Have fun. She may feel better tomorrow and could join you for the concert if not the shopping.
Go for it!

waterrat · 30/08/2018 15:44

Blimey - a day shopping alone in London - my idea of heaven - read a book over lunch somewhere fun, sight see, enjoy the night alone in a hotel.

kaytee87 · 30/08/2018 15:44

@LittleKitty1985 what good would cold and flu capsules do for a sickness bug?

BitOutOfPractice · 30/08/2018 15:45

God going alone sounds great! Do it! You might just surprise yourself!

Dermymc · 30/08/2018 15:45

Go alone. She can't help being ill. You have another day to find someone else for the concert too.

twilightcafe · 30/08/2018 15:45

Go solo and have a great time doing and going wherever you like!

No one will care that you are on your own.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 30/08/2018 15:46

I would love a night in a hotel on my own. I'd be tempted to sack off the concert, order room service, have a long bath and watch crap TV but that's just because I'm pregnant and have a 4yo so permanently shattered. Then i'd spend the next morning shopping (which is so much better on your own when you can take your time) have a nice lunch out with a good book, maybe potter round the gallery in the afternoon. Sometimes it's nice to just please yourself and not have to accommodate anyone else.

SassitudeandSparkle · 30/08/2018 15:48

Go - get yourself to the train station now!

Ask if anyone wants to go - if not, she'll have to pay for her ticket/train/hotel anway. I bet you haven't asked anyone yet.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 30/08/2018 15:49

I was meant to go to the theatre recently with a family member but she rang to say she was ill on the morning. Couldn't find anyone else free so I went by myself and thoroughly enjoyed it.

MrsFezziwig · 30/08/2018 15:49

Given that you won’t get any money back, I would go alone, but then I do a lot of things on my own (rather than not do them at all) and I generally enjoy myself. And surely at a concert you’re concentrating on the performance, it’s not like it’s a restaurant meal for two.

If you say what concert it is you might get another MNetter who would like to go!

Dumbledoresgirl
Go on your own. It’s miserable I agree

Words fail me.

Feefeetrixabelle · 30/08/2018 15:50

Go on your own and sell the spare ticket on

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 30/08/2018 15:50

I feel more sorry for your friend. She's missing out completely and she's ill - you can still go!

Are you mad at your flaky friend? I'd be furious. If I were in her shoes I'd rather dose myself up on cold and flu capsules and get on with it than let down a friend so badly

Don't be silly. How can you be 'mad' at someone for getting a sickness bug? What on earth would you be 'furious' about?

Do cold and flu capsules magically prevent throwing up or make someone non-contagious?

FilledSoda · 30/08/2018 15:51

Please go.
London !!!!!!!
It'll be fab.

HighwayDragon1 · 30/08/2018 15:52

Perfect time to masterdate - that is, go out on a date on your own.

Enjoy!

pippy002 · 30/08/2018 15:52

I did suggest to my friend travelling down and just seeing how she feels in the morning but she hasn't replied.
I've text a couple of friends
It's actually wicked at the west end (so not a concert I guess,a show is a better description)
Really good seats and I was so excited.

WeShouldBeFriends · 30/08/2018 15:53

Why would you not go?!

serbska · 30/08/2018 15:53

I would go alone rather than not go at all

justchangingagain · 30/08/2018 15:53

I would definitely go by myself without a second thought, for my sister it would be the end of the world, and boy would everyone know about it.

leghoul · 30/08/2018 15:54

It'd be far worse if your friend had gone and given you whatever bug she has, such as norovirus

Anyway definitely definitely go. Ask around if anyone else interested - but definitely go to London

pippy002 · 30/08/2018 15:55

I suffer with anxiety (not panic attacks but generalised anxiety ) worry about things etc
I'm trying to tell myself il never see any of these people again so go!

Fuck sake. For a sickness bug. Hmm

OP definitely go alone, I have done before, albeit planned, and it is a wonderfully peaceful time, in spite of the fact it's London!

lalalonglegs · 30/08/2018 15:55

Perfect, if it's the theatre, you can use her seat for your bag and coat Smile.

GO! Angry
