We have booked and paid to go to London for a concert tomorrow night.
Leaving at 6.30 pm tonight
She rang a hour ago saying she was ill with sickness bug and can't go.
It's too late to find anyone else to go.
So I'm loosing out on £90 train
£150 hotel and £79 concert ticket :-(
Do I go alone?
I know I won't enjoy it alone tho
Tomorrow was meant to be shopping then concert ..coming home on Saturday

Well done 👏👏👏👏
Have a wickedly wonderful time op

MrsFezziwig · 30/08/2018 23:26

LittleKitty1985 you suggest the OP’s friend might be lying based on the fact that you have said you lied at work to get a day off because you had “something else to do”.

Glad you weren’t ever one of my work colleagues. Babbling on about how strong and healthy you are doesn’t disguise the fact that you clearly aren’t a person with integrity.

peachgreen · 30/08/2018 23:31

So glad you're going OP! I've been to the theatre by myself loads of times and I love it. Have a fabulous time!

peachgreen · 30/08/2018 23:33

Hey LittleKitty1985, please update when you're pluckily battling your way through norovirus with nothing but two ibuprofen and a Lemsip Max Hmm

Ontheboardwalk · 30/08/2018 23:34

Working in London I did my first show on my own - loved it. Booked last minute got front row seat next to photographer who left after 20 mins. Loads of space for me

No one will be watching you but if you look around there will be loads of people on their own having fun. Even if couple of people sat together they’ll prob be on their phones, checking mumsnet obviously, rather than talking to each other.

Keep us updated!

seven201 · 30/08/2018 23:39

I'm so glad you went! Have an amazing weekend.

LittleKitty1985 · 30/08/2018 23:41

@MrsFezziwig I've taken two days off for personal reasons in 10 years. I've never taken a day off sick and instead taken flu capsules and got on with my work. I'd say that only taking 2 "sick" days off work in 10 years shows far more integrity and work ethic than colleagues of mine who take 10+ sick days off a year coz they have minor colds!

Cupoteap · 30/08/2018 23:45

Yay so glad you've gone, hope you are having fun!

bringincrazyback · 30/08/2018 23:52

Go alone and enjoy some 'you time'!

arranfan · 31/08/2018 00:05

You won't be short of things to do and places to wander on your way to the theatre. It's hugely enjoyable just to walk round Covent Garden through to the West End and the theatres.

I'm another who adores Wicked and will admit to a small more accurately, just this side of a full scale sob

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 31/08/2018 00:07

You'll be fine, I go on city breaks and concerts alone any chance I get.

CanYouHearThePeopleSing · 31/08/2018 00:14

If you haven't already, download the Citymapper app on your phone. Tell it where you want to go and it will tell you exactly how to get there. I used it in London recently and it was brilliant. I used buses for the first time ever because it told me where the stop was and how far to go. You see loads more than you do using the tube.
Have fun!

Ginormoustrawberry · 31/08/2018 00:23

LittleKitty1985

Are you being deliberately obtuse or are you in fact that stupid?

Cold & flu capsules don’t work for sickness bugs 🙄🙄

OP - I hope you have an amazing time 💐

TheDarkPassenger · 31/08/2018 00:24

You’ve honestly tempted me to book a night away alone, it actually sounds amazing 🤣 nice bath, book and chill with no one bothering me? And getting to see a show? Sounds like heaven!

Lulu2106 · 31/08/2018 00:32

I live up the road from Leinster Gardens and I never knew that about the two houses! You learn something new everyday. Thanks for that!
Hope you are having a lovely time.

Monty27 · 31/08/2018 00:32

Keep us posted OP. Have a great time Smile

RebootYourEngine · 31/08/2018 00:37

I am a teeny bit jealous as I love London and I love wicked.

Hope you have a good time.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 31/08/2018 00:40

so happy to hear you are going, and I hope you keep us updated, but mostly I hope you have a wonderful time.

You should be very proud of you. I am, and I don't even know you :)

ThisIsNotMyRealName1 · 31/08/2018 00:54

Great stuff pippy, have a fabulous time - update us now and then so we can have an away time too :)

Beeziekn33ze · 31/08/2018 01:00

Pippy - Enjoy yourself, we're all with you in spirit. And thank you for promoting such a lovely warm supportive thread!

tumpymummy · 31/08/2018 01:09

Oooh, this lovely thread is inspiring me to go to London on my own now!! Haven't been to London for years.

PolkaDoting · 31/08/2018 01:34

So glad you went!

AdelesBeard · 31/08/2018 07:53

Might be too late OP but if you've got a smart phone download the citymapper app - it's brilliant for showing you how to get around London on foot, tube and bus. You put in a start and end point and it gives you all the options, then you can track yourself on the app so you always know where you are.

Loopylou6 · 31/08/2018 08:33

No update from op, think that must mean she's had a blast and is probably slobbering in her sleep in a swanky hotel right now Grin

twoheaped · 31/08/2018 08:39

Glad you decided to go!
I went to London this week and my tube journey was rather circuitous but it's easy enough to finally get yourself on the right line Grin
Hope you have a great time!
