We have booked and paid to go to London for a concert tomorrow night.
Leaving at 6.30 pm tonight
She rang a hour ago saying she was ill with sickness bug and can't go.
It's too late to find anyone else to go.
So I'm loosing out on £90 train
£150 hotel and £79 concert ticket :-(
Do I go alone?
I know I won't enjoy it alone tho
Tomorrow was meant to be shopping then concert ..coming home on Saturday
Gutted

£320 on a weekend with a friend. Goodness me. What a lot of money you young people spend

It's 2018. Travel, accommodation & theatre tickets aren't cheap. Long gone are the days you could have a weekend in London for thruppence h'apenny farthing and come home with change for t'charabanc.

Nerdybeethoven · 01/09/2018 08:15

Hope OP is having a lovely time. I live near London and often go to things alone. So does DH as one of us has to stay home with the kids - we take it in turns. Feels completely normal. Easier than trying to organise a friend to go. People don't judge. Also, lots of nice fast food places if you don't want to be alone in a restaurant and / or want to kerp costs down: Leon, Wasabi, Itsu for example.

yummyeclair · 01/09/2018 08:19

Been to shows on my own and it great staying over so relaxing on your own!

Failbydefault · 01/09/2018 08:24

Just to add, London is now a 24 hour city, with the night tube up and running. The streets will still be thronging with people after the show, so it won’t feel as scary as you think. Good luck!

BillywilliamV · 01/09/2018 08:50

How joyous, a weekend London alone!

Shampaincharly · 01/09/2018 08:53

@ikiboo , a new word for me ! Thanks.

beanaseireann · 01/09/2018 10:07

Go on your own.
I've done it and I'm the least brave person ever.
And London is in a different country to where I live when I braved it.

Monkee4 · 01/09/2018 11:13

I always thought it was a charabang ! but you're absolutely right ikiboo just googled it [laughing]

Ah! The enthusiasm of you lot - well, most of you lot Grin - has got me wishing I were without the mobility problems that have come with my eighteeth year or I'd be off like a shot next week and hang the expense.

Still, these days we are blessed with the internet and currently I'm 'visiting' Turkey by following someone's blog, watching the whirling dervishes on youtube, buying the odd souvenir and having a brief chat with the Turkish seller, and introducing myself to Turkish coffee and some of the food... Where to next year? I don't know yet, but there's always a way!

I really hope your London experience gives you courage to fly even further OP, now that you've found your wings.

VerbenaGirl · 01/09/2018 15:14

sugarytits321 · 01/09/2018 15:25

Love it when the OP doesn't let us know what happened (not)

SassitudeandSparkle · 01/09/2018 23:19

After her update on Thursday which said that she was going, I assume we'll hear more when she get back tomorrow. Hope it was fab, OP.

pippy002 · 02/09/2018 14:19

Hi I'm sorry I didn't update.
I ran out of 4g and didn't want to pay for hotel WiFi
My friend actually came down on the Saturday morning and we had a brilliant time.
The first night by myself I didn't sleep great but went shopping till my friend arrived.
I felt so positive after doing it.
Wicked was amazing and would highly recommend It.
Thanks for the people who pushed me to go.
Best thing I did.
