Just that really.... inspired by the recent sticker campaign.... "Women can't have penises" and "Some women have penises"....

Simple question - simple answer.

Me - Yes, I believe women can't have penises.

do a women's class with a FTM pre op who is taking illegal hormones

Very sad. That person will do themselves a lot of damage :(

StrangeLookingParasite · 28/08/2018 14:59

Live and let live people. Love not hate.

Stating biological facts is not hate.

Corkscrewbetty · 28/08/2018 14:59

I usually have one about three times a week. I'd have one twice a day if I could.

IllGiveYouSomethingToCryAbout · 28/08/2018 14:59

What frequency said.

BertrandRussell · 28/08/2018 14:59

Women isn't have penises. But some trans women do. And I believe absolutely in their right to live their lives peacefully and unharrassed, protected by all the laws that protect non trans people.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 28/08/2018 14:59

of course they don't!

GoatWoman · 28/08/2018 14:59

Women do not have penises.

Human beings cannot change sex.

Ollivander84 · 28/08/2018 15:00

Yet - I know. I have a friend that was desperately unhappy, MTF transition, I didn't even know until they told me. Transitioned via NHS, all legally and happy as 18 years on

The other person is never happy, wasn't before and isn't now and I think is using that as why/coping

NonaGrey · 28/08/2018 15:00

I find the question problematic.

It's not a question of belief. It is an empirical fact.

I don’t understand why we are discussing this as if “belief” is relevant to the question.

BertrandRussell · 28/08/2018 15:01

"Lots of women can’t give birth. It’s not a qualification of womanhood that you can."

It would be very foolish to say that being able to give birth is a definition of being a woman.

Postino · 28/08/2018 15:02

I wonder if it will get as far as the dictionary definition being changed

FishCanFly · 28/08/2018 15:02

they can have penises. in jars. preserved in formaldehyde.

RatRolyPoly · 28/08/2018 15:03

Typical human females do not have penises. Typical biological males do. Some biological males have a female gender identity. Woman is a description of gender, not biological sex (unless of course you ask for some sort of anatomical and chromosomal check before applying the term), so on rare occasions women (trans women) may have penises.

It's really not so hard to understand.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/08/2018 15:03

No - women don't have penises. Nor do they have Y-chormosomes (except in very rare, XXY medical anomalies).

There are men/males who feel "inside" that they are women - that's fine, we feel how we feel - but they are NOT women.

If they have the appropriate surgery to remove their external genitalia, I will be prepared to accept them in women-only areas in swimming baths, changing rooms etc,as long as it didn't make any XX -chromosome individuals uncomfortable, but otherwise they can use the men's facilities.

Because they are men.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/08/2018 15:03

I have a friend that was desperately unhappy, MTF transition, I didn't even know until they told me. Transitioned via NHS, all legally and happy as 18 years on

Times have sadly changed. Transition used to be the last resort and now it is advocated much earlier - and often causes of dysphoria are underlying or more fundamental... and the 'net is a source of bad information and dangerous drugs.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/08/2018 15:04

they can have penises. in jars. preserved in formaldehyde

Mmmm. Now there's a thought . . .

mostdays · 28/08/2018 15:04

No, I don't believe that.

SlartiAardvark · 28/08/2018 15:05

Do they have to be attached?

A woman could have jam jars of the things laying around the house.

But if you're talking about attached, then no - if you have a penis then you're a man, it doesn't matter what you wear etc....

Ollivander84 · 28/08/2018 15:05

Yet - exactly
It's a class where we are quite undressed due to the nature of it so I wear a vest, often rolled up and short knicker type shorts
I feel uncomfortable with it but I can't express why. Maybe because I knew them before the transition

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/08/2018 15:06

Women do not have penises. Gender is a dangerous social construct I'd be happy to see done away with but as long as gender still exists, I am happy for people to live in their chosen gender but sex and sex segregated spaces and activities need to be protected.

THIS ^

What Frequency says.

Seafoodeatit · 28/08/2018 15:06

It's irrelevant, a woman is whatever the figment of a man's imagination dreams it up to be. I don't want to bore with the scientific bit e.g the love of pink, wearing skirts and high heels, happily receiving 'compliments' from strange men.

Branleuse · 28/08/2018 15:06

Having a penis is a really big clue that you are in fact a male

BossWitch · 28/08/2018 15:07

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3349086-Plaid-Cymry-candidate-faces-disciplinary-for-stating-no-women-have-penises

This would be one of many good reasons why we need to keep stating the facts. And this is just from browsing active threads in the last 4 minutes...

BreconBeBuggered · 28/08/2018 15:07

Taking a wild guess at what you're driving at, OP: no, women in general do not have penises. Transwomen may or may not have intact penises; again, this isn't really my business and it doesn't have any impact on me either way.
Owners of penises who claim to be women but act like predatory men are men. They're not transwomen and they're certainly not women.

CripsSandwiches · 28/08/2018 15:07

Not another stupid antagonistic thread. I'm happy for someone to present as a woman whatever stage they are at in the sex change process. Their genitals are none of my or your business. I don't think my status as a woman is defined by my genitals.
