Don't get me wrong she seems like a lovely lady and does have some useful tips but AIBU to think she cleans alot and often. As a single mum I don't hardly have anytime during the day to do this amount of cleaning! Now it's making me feel bad that I don't clean this much 😂

Clearly typing whilst breastfeeding is not my friend.

Mytype · 19/09/2018 06:52

Your missing my point. I understand all your points but why does it concern you? You don’t like what she does that’s fine...just don’t watch or follow? It’s pretty simple really.

Mytype · 19/09/2018 06:54

Sophie has been cleaning HER way for a while and just because her followers have grown she now has a responsibility of others? We are all adults and know the dangers of chemicals and mixing. If Sophie wants to do that it’s up to her but what she does shouldn’t concern any of you!

Mytype · 19/09/2018 06:54

Ooops sorry you’re

GulagMilkMonitor · 19/09/2018 07:03

I quite like watching her, I let my stories roll through and she is one of the few that I don’t skip.

That doesn’t mean she has no responsibility. If you broadcast to hundreds of thousands of people, and continue to do so you have a responsibility to make sure the information you give is correct, safe and legal.

People with comment on public figures. Bullying is of course a no-no but criticism is no bad thing and will always fall upon the shoulders of public figures.

Just because you criticise an element of what someone does (plastics, mixing of toxic substances) does not mean you don’t like them, are a bully or are mean. Just because you can criticise an element of what someone does doesn’t mean you should stop watching.
I thought the last two albums from The Killers were shocking but I still go to their gigs.

@gulag is speaking so much sense there. Those that say just don't follow don't get it. It's social responsibility. Actively promoting something that can harm people just isn't sensible. There are plenty of people who will follow blindly without knowing the dangers or researching. It happens in every industry, with people in all different forms of fame. People blindly follow and always will.

Cleaning is a fantastic mindfulness type therapy and so I can't knock it, but yes think of the environment /health etc. This isn't bashing. This is, as gulag says, constructive.

merlotmummy14 · 19/09/2018 07:33

I love her stories for cleaning tips but her actual photos of her house are so bland. I do kind of wonder if she has some sort of obsessive cleaning disorder that everybody is sensationalising?

LuckyAmy1986 · 19/09/2018 07:52

It’s a bit silly to say if you don’t like what someone is doing to just ignore it. In the privacy of you own home, fine. If you are putting it out there purposely for people to see it, which was the case even before she had loads of followers, then people should be allowed their opinion. You can’t just accept the good ones and tell people who disagree not to comment!!

GrimSqueaker · 19/09/2018 08:04

This is the whole mentality of the insta-famous crowd though. Like me, tell me I'm amazing, buy the stuff I get paid to promote when I hit enough followers to attract the money... but if anyone dares criticise me I'll cry that people are mean and I'm upset and just set the follower army on them to hurl insults and accuse people of bullying. You see it time and time again - look at Zoella, look at the insta-mums that send their followers over here, look at Attic 24 in the crochet world, look at the great cleaning celeb wars now.

The second anyone questions something being suggested we go from being sensible collected blogger to just crying that people are mean and begging their friends to go sort it all out.

LuckyAmy1986 · 19/09/2018 08:10

Oh I agree, and I find it bizarre that people are falling over themselves to defend her and gush about her, that they care that much about someone they don’t know. Too many people are sheep that’s the problem. It’s not just about Mrs Hinch, that goes for a lot of these Instagram “stars” who have absolutely nothing special about them.

PaddysMarket · 19/09/2018 08:14

Boopsy She's been quiet because she has got flu.

rainbowsandsmiles · 19/09/2018 08:45

Grin squeaker - she addressed bullying in one of her stories, basically said it was never acceptable. To say it's "crying and setting followers on people" is pretty ridiculous and unfair.

squiz81 · 19/09/2018 09:45

@GrimSqueaker what happened with Attic24? I missed that.

I really like Gulagmilkmonitors posts, you've really hit the nail on the head.

I probably am part of the "plastic police" but I really don't understand why anyone wouldn't be when it's very obvious the damage plastic is having on the environment.

GrimSqueaker · 19/09/2018 10:00

Attic24... well she did all the mandalas for Yarndale... then her followers finally realised that yarndale wasn't some massive act of yarn-related altruism and wondered where the mandalas were going (think they were kept for display at other commercial projects - but my memory's hazy on that one) and realised that basically she was actually making a profit out of her blog and associated interests and started questionning things... so there was much stropping and upset and "woe is me" posting.

Then someone else was using yarn around pegs to try colour combinations for projects, and replicating colour schemes from stylecraft to sell before the Attic "official" shop had packs in stock - so she unleashed her followers, accusations of "stealing" the idea of wrapping yarn around poundshop clothes pegs abounded and generally more shit flew around the internet. Again stirred up by lots and lots of "woe is me" and "I feel sad".

Crochet people get seriously bonkers though - look at any crochet along group before the big project takes off in general and it's just craziness... but with pointy sharp objects around.

And what went on with the Hinchgroupies over on TOMM when she raised concerns about making your loo into a chemical cauldron of the cleaning aisle was just fucking ridiculous the other week. And it IS basically crying and setting followers on people - and they ALL seem to bloody do it. Few posts about how sad they are with enough "oh I couldn't possibly name names" full of enough hints for the most dense to click on and figure it out and they know full well their playground gang are going to go over there and let them know what they think.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 19/09/2018 10:08

Anyone seen the story MrsH just posted? It's her dog, and she's captioned it: "He doesn't criticise me, judge me or betray me.. I couldn't be without him just now."

??!!?! What does that refer to?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 19/09/2018 10:09

Oh, it'll be this, I guess:

Again stirred up by lots and lots of "woe is me" and "I feel sad".

WhatsGoingOnEh · 19/09/2018 10:16

I've never followed anyone who got famous before. Does it have to be the death knell for their content? I seriously LOVED Mrs H's cleaning stories - they were so fun, funny, inspiring and engaging! But since it's all taken off, those videos have largely stopped.

Is that it now? What usually happens?

rainbowsandsmiles · 19/09/2018 10:20

What'sgoingon - she posted the other night to say she was ill, so I'm presuming that's why she hasn't had many stories. Hopefully normal service resumes when she's feeling better Smile

WhatsGoingOnEh · 19/09/2018 10:36

@rainbowsandsmiles - Hopefully! (I wish I looked that good when I had flu. 😂)

I can see all her new followers wondering what all the fuss is about. I miss her cleaning!!!!

squiz81 · 19/09/2018 10:37

Thanks for the info @GrimSqueker that's a pity things went sour. It does all leave a bad taste in the mouth. I'm fairly new to crochet (I'm more of a knitter) and haven't come across this in the knitting world, crocheters must be more feisty! 😃

It seems to be when money becomes a factor that tensions run high and the blog/IG account stops being fun.

Why are the Hincharmy stockpiling cleaning products? Are they buying in bulk at a discount or is there some shortage coming that I'm not aware of? Or an apocalypse?

Grammar · 19/09/2018 10:41

Thank God I'm on no other social media other than this and have a job. Sorry, really smug post and don't mean to be judging anyone else. Just myself

rainbowsandsmiles · 19/09/2018 10:47

Yeah, because people who have jobs can't enjoy watching videos on Instagram. Confused Hmm
What's the difference say between watching some Insta videos on an evening or a couple of episodes of your favourite programme? Nothing, it's what you prefer watching.

Booie09 · 19/09/2018 10:59

Whoever said a clean house is a empty life id say a untidy house is a lazy house....tidy as you go and don't buy loads of little shit nick nacks...but who the Fuck has time to put a sink go sleep!
