Women have never been good enough to be the face of a brand. But in a brave and stunning move for equality , Pampers have picked Daley and Black as perfect brand ambassadors

So it’s virtue signalling to show men in the advert. And it would be outrageously sexist to show women. That’s the basic tune of this thread.

make up your minds. Fucking hard to please.

Sisgal · 23/08/2018 08:38

I'm a mother of 4 and, shock horror Shock I do the food shopping cooking cleaning dealing with kids etc. It's the real world. Women are better at that shit than men. I don't see what's so wrong with there being things that women are better at and things that men are better at. Simple.

Juells · 23/08/2018 08:39

Brave And Stunning.

P3onyPenny · 23/08/2018 08:42

And now you're goading.

OrchidInTheSun · 23/08/2018 08:43

I don't think women are better at shopping/cooking/cleaning - that is outrageously sexist. Grin

BuntyII · 23/08/2018 08:44

@P3onyPenny so women have to buy all the nappies but it's sexist to point that out. Fucking hell where do you even start with that kind of logic.

P3onyPenny · 23/08/2018 08:46

Why do women have to buy all the nappies? Hmm I never did.

MissusGeneHunt · 23/08/2018 08:47

There's a lot of Judgey McJudgefacing going on, lots of offence being taken, and many words out of context. So, again, to save everyone's heated concerns, what's wrong with just a picture of a baby?!

Iknowwhoyouare123 · 23/08/2018 08:52

It still will be a picture of a baby.

BuntyII · 23/08/2018 08:54

Oh and I couldn't give a shit about Daley and his partner advertising pampers except that I don't think it will get more men changing nappies. Heterosexual men watching it will just think oh changing nappies is for women and gay blokes. And not that many men are into diving. Could we have an advert with Guy Martin or Rory McIlroy changing a nappy?

Beamur · 23/08/2018 08:56

iknowwhoyouare
That made me laugh (sorry)
However, I do think Dads should be the 'face' of wipes - in my limited experience he certainly used the most...

Nutkins24 · 23/08/2018 08:58

Meh, surely it’s a good thing to have men being the ‘face’ of a baby brand? Most advertising is outrageously sexist. Perhaps this will set a precedent, women could even advertise beer one day.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 23/08/2018 09:01

It's a good thing. He's the baby's father, the way their baby came into the world and the fact he's gay doesn't make this any lesser.

holidaycountdown54321 · 23/08/2018 09:04

Well it's worked hasn't it, you are all sat here discussing it. It's just a publicity stunt to show how inclusive they are. There'll be a transgender couple soon on there without a doubt. Then we'll all sit around discussing that too. Oh and in our house my husband does the shopping and does 50/50 of the nappies etc. Tom Daley being an ambassador for nappies won't have any effect on whether my husband will change nappies or not.

SpeckleDust · 23/08/2018 09:20

Heterosexual men watching it will just think oh changing nappies is for women and gay blokes. And not that many men are into diving. Could we have an advert with Guy Martin or Rory McIlroy changing a nappy?

Absolutely this. And get Tom Hardy in on the nappy-changing action.

Wishiwasa · 23/08/2018 09:21

@RJnomore1 😀😀 that's quite an image! Also a vote for liking the legend advert, despite using washable nappies and paying no attention to nappy adverts due to no tv (I know, I should live in the 1930s)

Sparklesocks · 23/08/2018 09:22

Well they're parents...they have a baby...they use nappies. Doesn't seem like too wild a choice? Maybe if it were for tampons that would be a different story!
I personally think it's a good thing to show men associated with nappy changing and childcare. And there are all sorts of types families.

OctaviaOctober · 23/08/2018 09:30

It would be nice to see straight men get one of these campaigns for once. The baby/cleaning advertising worlds clearly think men should only have to take responsibility for these things if there is no handy woman in the family.

NerrSnerr · 23/08/2018 09:31

@OctaviaOctober like John Legend who was the first male face of pampers?

NerrSnerr · 23/08/2018 09:34

Heterosexual men watching it will just think oh changing nappies is for women and gay blokes.

Really? I think some of you need to choose your husbands and educate your sons better if this attitude is normal for you. I know there are some utter arsehole dads out there who won't change nappies but it my group of friends they're definitely in the minority.

rainbowsandsmiles · 23/08/2018 09:37

Meh. I can't get worked up over this. They're parents. With a baby. So stands to reason they're perfect for nappy ads.
If Jessica Ennis and others who are female have indeed done the ad, your "but women never do these ads" argument falls down somewhat.

rainbowsandsmiles · 23/08/2018 09:40

so women have to buy all the nappies but it's sexist to point that out.

Since when do women have to buy all the nappies? Confused
DH certainly bought lots too when the kids were in them, it wasn't just me buying them. Hmm

Sisgal · 23/08/2018 09:44

Och who really gives a shit anyway, Pampers are crap. Prefer asda own brand tbh

geekone · 23/08/2018 09:52

@Sisgal you clearly don’t know my family. My DH is far better at all of those things you mentioned cleaning, childcare, cleaning,..... cleaning Grin. Maybe not shopping as I do love to spend money, especially on Gin and Shoes but I don’t think that counts really.

ferntwist · 23/08/2018 09:55

I’m never buying Pampers again. Very disappointed.
