Women have never been good enough to be the face of a brand. But in a brave and stunning move for equality , Pampers have picked Daley and Black as perfect brand ambassadors

And women can just buy a syringe full of sperm. That's AOK. Never an answer to that,it has been mentioned several times.

Yes, I noticed that's been asked a few times, I'd be interested to know if it's just gay men who "shouldn't" have babies as parents should have both their mother and their father, or does that extend to lesbians too?
No one seems to be able to answer, do they?
Do lesbians have to involve the baby's father in a relationship?

P3onyPenny Flowers for you and your son

bananafish81 · 24/08/2018 11:08

The body of a woman used by rich men. I hope she is recovered and baby coped OK without her during the fourth trimester.

So is it the commercial aspect that's the issue?
The fact they're two gay men?
Or the fact it's surrogacy at all?

Would you say the same for me and my husband and my friend? I can't carry a child, my friend has offered to help us, as she said she loved being pregnant but has absolutely no interest in having another child, and would love to help us have a family, by being the 'tummy mummy' (as she refers to it) for one of our leftover frozen embryos (made with my eggs and my husband's sperm) She said she has no desire to raise another child, she would like to look after our baby for us for 9 months, then give him or her back to us and go and drink wine!

Thanksto you and your son Peony - I know several gay couples who have beautiful, happy, well adjusted children through surrogacy. I remember cuddling my friends' daughter saying that she was so very very wanted and loved that she had two daddies and an egg mummy and a tummy mummy, that's how important she was and how much everyone wanted her to be born. They are in touch with the donor and the surro, their baby girl is now a robust and cheeky little toddler. Her daddies never believed they'd be able to become fathers when they came out as gay, now they're potty training and taking their daughter to parties with nursery friends.

Im really on the fence about commercial surrogacy whoever is paying the surrogate, no problem with altruistic surrogacy

I dont care who the parents are if someone wants to have children

I think buying some sperm isnt the same as surrogacy, commercial or otherwise

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 24/08/2018 12:48

Although they themselves are controversial figures they do stand for a lot.

One father has adopted the child, making them a gay couple with a baby on mainstream television which is a big thing.

Surrogacy and it’s pros and cons aren’t really spoken about in the media and it will bring that into the forefront too.

Anything that isn’t atypical 2.4 kids is a plus on Main Street tv in my opinion.

Interesting that the "babies should know both parents" argument from some only stretches as far as it meaning that means they should know the mother. Not the Dads. You'd think it'd stretch both ways if people were honestly concerned about the baby knowing where they came from.
Serious double standards.

SoupDragon · 24/08/2018 13:04

Isn’t buying sperm technically buying a baby?

rainbowsandsmiles · 24/08/2018 13:07

Soupdragon - exactly!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 13:29

Where in earth have i said that babies should know both parents

I have already said i dont care about the oarents of a child and i have no problem with some forms of surragacy

I also haven't said i think commercial surragacy is wrong

As i said im not sure...I haven't made my mind up

So no double standards here thank you

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 13:30

soup

I have no problem with anyone buying a baby

I havent said i have a problem

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 13:32

Oh sorry soup

Yes buying sperm is buying a baby

Same as buying an egg

Just realised you asked a question m so I completely agree there

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 13:47

Or would it be half baby

bananafish81 · 24/08/2018 13:58

I think buying some sperm isnt the same as surrogacy, commercial or otherwise

Yes buying sperm is buying a baby

Same as buying an egg

So sperm provided FOC by a known donor (including the route that many people undertake, via private arrangements with strangers via closed FB groups, to obtain sperm for home insemination rather than paying for IUI at a private clinic) isn't buying a baby, because that's altruistic and not commercial.

But treatment with sperm via a licensed fertility clinic, that's purchased from a sperm bank, is buying a baby?

Egg and sperm donors can't be paid in the UK - they can receive up to £750 in expenses only, they can't be paid for their donation as they can in other countries. Egg sharers can receive discounted IVF if they share their eggs with another couple, but payment isn't legal. So the money for the sperm covers the administrative costs but doesn't go to the donor. Same with egg donation in the UK

But this is still buying a baby because you're purchasing sperm or eggs?

rainbowsandsmiles · 24/08/2018 14:12

Where in earth have i said that babies should know both parents

Wasn't aimed specifically at you, some have said so though.Just wondered whether it stretches to dads too or just mums.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 14:15

Oh good lord

I would have been better saying that I understand the argument that buying sperm or an egg could be considered to be buying a baby

But as you need the egg if you are buying sperm and you need sperm if you are buying a baby then you are not buying a baby...you are buying the means with which to make a baby

My point regarding surragacy is that nine months of carrying a baby and giving birth to a baby isnt the same as buying some sperm

To be honest im slightly confused by this...ive never thought before today about the ramifications of buying sperm or an egg and ive also never said i have a problem with surragacy, but i seem to be defending myself an awful lot at the moment Smile

I also never made the connection between free sperm and paid for sperm, the term altruistic was used purely for surragacy.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 14:17

Wasn't aimed specifically at you

Fair enough

It did look like it was aimed at me as it was my quote you used but I appreciate the clarification

WTF has safeguarding got to do with anything?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 14:23

Yes

I have looked into egg donation myself and friend of mine bought sperm Smile

BlackShirt · 24/08/2018 14:27

It wall the wider issue of giving males what they want and the witch hunting against anyone with any opinion that upsets males, and who don't get what they want, regardless of others. All that seems to matter to some people are male tears, male feelings and male entitlement.

Sparklesocks · 24/08/2018 14:33

Some really nasty, bigoted opinions on here.

The way I see it:

Lovely baby with two loving parents - a good thing
Representation of homosexual couples in advertising - a good thing

rainbowsandsmiles · 24/08/2018 14:39

Some fucking disgusting attitudes on here.
