Tom Daley to be new face of Pampers

Women have never been good enough to be the face of a brand. But in a brave and stunning move for equality , Pampers have picked Daley and Black as perfect brand ambassadors

OP posts:

I'm confused about what the issue is as it seems to have changed.

Too many men in advertising.
Not enough lesbians.
Gays being parents.
Fathers changing nappies.
Fathers not changing nappies.
Surrogacy (but only to gay male couples apparently)

What is it?

Has the OP just popped over from FWR 'cause she's angry about men in general but doesn't know how to be specific?

NerrSnerr · 24/08/2018 02:54

@Bejazzled When Jessica Ennis Hill was brand ambassador for pampers was it also equally pushed down your throat or do you just feel that when it's a gay man advertising something? It's just an advert. You're not forced to sit and watch it.

Slarti · 24/08/2018 08:01

We wanted to leave the thread as a whole as we felt it was a valid debate

Honestly, if questioning the legitimacy of a nappy ad for featuring men isn't in itself deeply sexist, then I don't know what is.

TacoLover · 24/08/2018 09:07

Men and women who love each other have been having babies since the dawn of time. Occasionally a gay man will have a baby with a woman he loves, there are ways of loving another outside of romantic or lust love.

So in your opinion the only way a gay man can have a family is by having a child with a woman that he is not sexually or romantically attracted toConfusedBecause that sounds like an amazing way to live doesn't itHmm

BlackShirt · 24/08/2018 09:12

People can do what they like. I believe in the child having loving parents and that includes having a mother. I don't force others to live by my values.

There is a big push to remove mother in general. It's the most important relationship a child has.

SoupDragon · 24/08/2018 09:13

and baby coped OK without her during the fourth trimester.

The baby has two loving parents. I’m sure he’s doing just fine.

BlackShirt · 24/08/2018 09:13

As I said love is not about romance and lust. There are many ways to become a parent.

I don't understand the point you're making. If a man is gay, he's not going to be attracted sexually or romantically to a woman.

What about a father?

BlackShirt · 24/08/2018 09:29

You don't need to get worked up by my opinion. I am somebody with no power or influence. People can do as they please with consenting adults within the law. Not everyone will agree it is a good thing to do for children, it is an opinion I posted above you don't like it. Enjoy the rest of your day.

BlackShirt · 24/08/2018 09:35

Professional offence, name calling, outrage it no longer bothers me, I have had it all from TRd to SERF. I have I guess now a gang will witch hint women that don't want mothers expelled from the life of children what are we SERFs (surrogate exclusionary radical feminists?)

SillySallySingsSongs · 24/08/2018 09:40

I disagree. In my DSC case it was the most damaging relationship they had.

You seem to think all mother are saints that never do wrong.

Confused
Nikephorus · 24/08/2018 10:06

The only thing that would bother me about having Tom Daley is the fact that he seems too bothered about fame and having everything he wants the second he wants it without there being any effort involved. He wanted a relationship but cheated anyway, then rather than being committed and taking the time to prove to his partner that he was mature enough they rushed into a fancy wedding. Then he decided he wanted a child so boom, one baby appears. It's all a bit too Hollywood for my liking, you can buy what you want to satisfy that need and then dump and move on ten seconds later. I'm not convinced their marriage will work and I'm not convinced that either of them are prepared to grow up and be decent parents.
Yes definitely to lesbians and gay men as representing Pampers, and straight men too. But either normal everyday people or famous faces who actually put their kids first and don't use them as the excuse for the next Hello or OK interview spread. Not fame-hungry celebrities.

NerrSnerr · 24/08/2018 10:14

How on earth do you know how long they have been planning to have a child? Maybe he didn't think that he had to discuss his future plans with you first?

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 24/08/2018 10:19

I agree with nerr

Ds1 would like children, he is 19

If he adopts at 28 even if it is done in the space of a few months it wont mean that he had only just decided!

Yes because that's exactly how you win Olympic medals and world championships hey. Hmm

PavlovianLunge · 24/08/2018 10:23

Tom Daly is someone you can definitely have too much of. 🙄

Oh the irony.

3luckystars · 24/08/2018 10:26

Pampers nappies are the worst, no soakage. I don’t care if the Pope is on the packet, they are no good!

rainbowsandsmiles · 24/08/2018 10:32

OK, what about lesbians having a baby? Should they not have them either without the father having a relationship with the baby?

Slarti · 24/08/2018 10:33

having everything he wants the second he wants it without there being any effort involved.

Face-palm

Yeah you just happen to have bigoted and derogatory opinions about gays and lesbians but you're the real victim here. Hmm

rainbowsandsmiles · 24/08/2018 10:42

So are you saying a gay man has to have a baby with a woman he loves in order to have a baby? Erm.... sorry to point out the bleedin' obvious, but if you're gay, you're not so much about the women, are you? Grin
Sounds like a miserable way to live if you're having to pretend.
Then no doubt people would be complaining as they felt deceived.

P3onyPenny · 24/08/2018 10:47

And women can just buy a syringe full of sperm. That's AOK.

Never an answer to that,it has been mentioned several times.

P3onyPenny · 24/08/2018 10:52

Just for the record. We've already had tears from my 14 year old gay son re becoming a parent in the future which he really wants. Doubt very much TD just clicked his fingers and thought guess what I'll have a baby tomorrow. Hmm

Teens coming to terms with being gay ,which is no picnic, go through all this. Making sure said son doesn't find this thread as it would really upset him.Why oh why MN feel the need to continue it I don't know.
