Now that the evenings are getting darker I feel sad that summer is ending .. and pissed off with the "cosy" people !! I hate winter .. what is "cosy" about bumbling about in the dark and scraping ice off your car, getting fat with stodgy food , seeing all the shit sentimental Christmas TV adverts and being pale , corpse like and with drizzled on hair !!! .. this is light hearted but I just don't get it ! .... I've stayed away from the " We hate summer" threads as instructed as they were not for me ... so now it's my turn !!

I love all of the seasons, but fucking hate February.

Shortest month that seems to go on for eternity.

Fucking cunt.

CrumbsInBed · 19/08/2018 10:01

YANBU btw op, we all have our own personal opinions on what is our favourite season(s) of the year, and nobody’s personal opinion trumps anyone else’s 🙂.

I dont mind autumn in general but I object to it starting in early august just as I begin my annual leave. I am so sad that the lovely weather has vanished and been replaced by grizzle before I got the chance to enjoy it. Happens every bloody year hence my user name. I already back to socks on, curtains drawn and carb craving.Bah.

fussychica · 19/08/2018 10:04

I love autumn but preferably spent somewhere warm and sunny so I'll be off in September.Grin I will miss all the ridiculous Christmas build up and return just in time to get all my goodies for Christmas.
I'm no bah humbug but the Christmas cards already for sale in British Heart Foundation and National Trust shops and probably others piss me right off. It's mid August ffs, we've not even had the Bank Holiday yet and it's officially still summer until 1 September meteorlogically and 21 Sept for the equinox.

LucheroTena · 19/08/2018 10:09

I imagine if you live in parts of the country that has typically seen weather in low to mid 20s you probably don’t get what people are moaning about, eg. I’ve holidayed in Cornwall and Wales this summer and it’s been delightful, warm and sunny with some breezes.

Living in or around London with consistent temps of high 20s to mid 30s, soaring humidity, vast swathes of concrete and buildings retaining heat, traffic spewing fumes and more heat, no breeze, infrastructure not built to withstand temps has been true hell. I for one welcome autumn. We didn’t even get a reprieve in spring, just went from freezing to boiling. Am concerned autumn weather is going to take another couple of months to start though.

AfterSchoolWorry · 19/08/2018 10:13

Yanbu

I've just said this on another thread:

It's all downhill from here.
Back to the school grind.
Tedious, suffocating, winter clothing.
Poxy, repetitive, Christmas rearing its ugly head again.
Cold, short, dark days on the way.
The endless, bleak, grey of Winter.
Claustrophobic months stuck indoors.

I wouldn't give a flying fuck if I never saw another 'cosy' sock, jumper or welly ever again. I hate darkness. I hate the nasty texture of 'cosy' fleecy, clothes. I hate sitting in traffic on the school run and then work. I hate Christmas. It sucks hairy balls. Same old crap year after year. I hate the relentlessness of it all. There is nothing redeeming about it. Nothing. I dread it.

HidingFromMyKids · 19/08/2018 10:14

Has everyone forgotten the chaos when we had extreme wintery conditions in March?!

I'm with you OP I don't drive so constantly cold or wet, I can't get up in the morning as its so dark and cold, my house is very draughty and I can't afford the heating, my DC cry at their hands being cold but won't wear gloves Hmm etc etc.

Yes the leaves look nice, hot chocolate and blankets bla bla but it's just not enough.

Growingboys · 19/08/2018 10:26

YANBU

I love summer and agree re the misery of the cold and dark.

OutPinked · 19/08/2018 10:29

I hate summer. The heat last month was unbearable, I was a disgusting sweaty mess most of the time. I’m pregnant so that worsened things but I’ve never been able to deal with heat very well. It makes me feel nauseous and gives me a headache.

I’m extremely pleased it’s cooled down this month and can’t wait for Autumn to fully kick in. Autumn is my favourite.

Asthenia · 19/08/2018 10:31

I’ve actually really enjoyed this summer - long evenings and loads of picnics and bbqs and sunbathing, it’s been wonderful. But god I love autumn and winter. The sense of new beginnings, cosy evenings, long invigorating walks - I just love it! I don’t spend all of summer excited for autumn though - I just enjoy the seasons as they come! January and February are the worst though - not even Christmas to look forward to

Winter costs so much in heating, no gas here so have to use oil which costs a thousand per winter. Summer pays for our electric as we have solar panels but not enough light for them in winter. It's not been boiling either had to light a fire the other week as it was so cold in the house. It's August for goodness sake. Really don't understand why people don't like sunshine and a bit of warmth. I bet they go abroad on holiday for it though.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 19/08/2018 10:40

My favourite season is autumn. I love the smell of damp leaves. I also love dark nights, as DS2 can actually get to sleep!

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 19/08/2018 10:45

I love spring summer and autumn. Winter not so much. It's pretty autumnal here by mid to late August-fruit ripening, leaves changing etc. It's a misconception that the whole of August is summer. June is midsummer.

IJustLostTheGame · 19/08/2018 10:46

Hahahaha February really IS a cunt!!

I love winter. I can wear my ankle length woolly jumper my aunty knitted me and light the fire. Then I can sit in front of it reading a book all evening.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 19/08/2018 10:47

Alicatz and Afterschoolworry I'm with you. I've loved this long hot summer. I've decided I suit this weather the best, like that song 'I want to go where the weather suits my clothes'
Autumns not too bad, but I hate winter with a passion and more so as the years go by. It seems to last forever, just cold, dark, grey, expensive and miserable. What's to like about that?

keepingbees · 19/08/2018 10:50

I love autumn, love the colours and atmosphere. Hate winter, it feels like bloody Narnia in this country. Never ending months of dark depressing days, cold, damp.

Livinglavidal0ca · 19/08/2018 10:53

I’m an autumn person really and love the idea of it, but I absolutely thrive in summer. I think my health and mental health is much better.
In winter I have colds all the time, my heating bills are going to go up, and I get depressed.
I’ll be stocking up on vitamin C tablets and not be so stingy with my heating, wed just moved out in February this year and it took us until it warmed up to figure out our storage heaters Grin

AfterSchoolWorry · 19/08/2018 10:54

Love you too alicat

Here's your sister with the hot flushes, I worked long days all summer in sweltering heat (no air con) physical job with chub rub, hot machines, epic menopausal sweating and I STILL prefer Summer. That's how much I despise winter !

userxx · 19/08/2018 10:56

I'm with you OP. Soooo depressing.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/08/2018 10:58

I was in Spain in 46 degrees a few weeks ago. It was heaven on earth. I could walk, I could run. I am now back and already visited the doctor to see if there was anything that could be done about the pain I am in when the damp and cold sets in. Take more painkillers. I wasn't built for this weather. For those who are talking about seasons. What season is it when everything is grey and miserable?

MorrisZapp · 19/08/2018 10:59

I think it depends a lot on your feelings about kids going back to school.

I absolutely LOVE the start of each new school year. Watching my son get bigger, making new friends, getting an exciting new teacher. Also, childcare worries over.

It all harks back to my own school and uni days when autumn meant new pencils, new jotters and a fresh start.

I love the turning seasons, passing years etc. As I get older it happens too quickly but I love the security of knowing pretty much what each season holds in store.

I also love Christmas, my biggest night out of the year is my office Christmas party and I look for dresses from January onwards!

SinglePringle · 19/08/2018 11:02

I’m with you OP.

IT IS NOT AUTUMN YET AND WE’VE MORE GLORIOUS HEAT PREDICTED!

That feels better! I hate the rain, cold, drizzle, wind of winter and have adored this glorious summer. I genuinely don’t understand those that don’t like sunshine and heat.

I’m dreading the winter. Last years was so bloody long.

More sunshine and high temps please.

ilovesooty · 19/08/2018 11:02

@AfterSchoolWorry

Where's the applause emoji when you need it?

"cosy" is going on my list of most hated words.

apriljune12 · 19/08/2018 11:02

I love all the seasons to beseasons.

So s hot summer, cold winter, mild sunny spring and crisp fresh autumn. That’s perfect. It’s when the seasons are wrong it’s crap Wink
