What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 19:11

I am genuinely asking this question out of curiosity not being inflammatory but I will no doubt be accused of this in typical mnet style! Anyway here goes-

I don't understand why some women are so proud of the fact that the first thing they do when they get home is to take their bra off and put pjs on.

A) I don't have time as when I get in from work there's stuff to do.
B) why would you want to sit there with everything dangling about

I think it is much better for your state of mind to have a bit of pride In Yourself, to wear a bit of makeup, clean clothes, brush your hair etc. On another note if your bra is so uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong bra!

I feel sorry for you that you don't feel comfortable enough, in your own home, with your family, to do these things. It's very uptight. I've just asked my husband about your post, and he said the same.

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 20:00

Soydora. I think I've expressed an opinion as mnet is a forum - members are allowed to do that.

Don't tie or clip up wet hair. It has more elasticity than dry hair and will be stretched, and gradually shrink as it dries, then snap. If you need to keep it out of your face, wear a headband. You can get towel ones that are good for your hair and you can pretend you're in an 80s exercise video.

SoyDora · 18/08/2018 20:01

Err... yes? I was referring to you saying ‘another can of worms’. I was just suggesting that this post can’t really be described as ‘opening a can of worms’ as that would imply you’d caused debate/argument between posters, which you haven’t.

ibblebibbledibble · 18/08/2018 20:02

I don’t understand people’s obsession with pyjamas. To me, they’re just something you wear to bed. I feel really grubby if I sit around in them for some reason.

BloodyDisgrace · 18/08/2018 20:03

Maybe they have big boobs which need to be let out.
I frankly don't care what people do in their homes but I don't bum around in pyjamas even when I'm really ill - because it will make me feel even more ill, like I can't even get dressed. It's the mood/effort thing.
(as to make-up I never wear it, inside the house or out. Simply not interested. I feel good enough without it but love perfume)

PortiaCastis · 18/08/2018 20:03

I'm the same as fake got no pants on and my chuff is getting an airing

SoyDora · 18/08/2018 20:03

I wear pyjamas in the evenings (well, more lounge wear I guess) but I sleep naked!

Pepper123123 · 18/08/2018 20:03

What makes a good state of mind for me is getting home, all jobs done, immediately taking my bra off and putting pjs or comfy clothes on.

There's nothing more pleasurable and satisfying than that first sit down all cosy in front of the TV.

I think it's very weird that you think women should suffer in the privacy of their own homes for the sake of some made-up 'pride' in themselves.

Pengggwn · 18/08/2018 20:03

'Better'? In what way? Surely if removing my bra or putting on my pyjamas makes me feel better, that is the only measure of 'better'? Why would you give a shit?

Serin · 18/08/2018 20:03

My boobs are not "dangly" thank you.
Have you thought about joining a gym.

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 20:03

Soydora. I see your point I stand corrected

I do know where the OP is coming from though. Clearly people on this thread have great self esteem and are comfortable to be comfortable in what they want and it's no-one else's business. That is totally spot on. However for people who struggle with self esteem and confidence, making an "effort" so that they feel confident in how they look can be a positive thing for their mental health, until they get to the point where they see no need to give a shit

Fakeflowersandlemonade · 18/08/2018 20:04

Oh thanks AynR great advice especially the 80’s excercise video.

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 20:05

Jeans at home? Not comfy for me. Fluffy PJ bottoms and relaxing top.

Pjs for lots of people substitute loungewear and other things. Also most people obviously don't sleep in the pj/loungwear.

Ooooooh. Going to supermarket in PJ. Would love to! My PJ bittoms look better than lots of people's trackies😁 And smell divine every time I move thanks to Unstoppables (dumb ads though).

tabulahrasa · 18/08/2018 20:05

In what way is changing into jeans taking pride in yourself?...

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 18/08/2018 20:06

Jeans are uncomfortable anywhere.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/08/2018 20:06

Yes, you are allowed to have your opinion, but can you not see that it is a rather unpleasantly judgemental opinion, on something that has absolutely zero effect on you, @daffodil10?

Honestly - I think you started this thread so you could tell us all how superior you are to the pyjama clad slobs, and were expecting applause for it. Sorry to disappoint.

Oh, and for the record (and so you cannot dismiss my opinion, because you think it might come from one of the people you look down on), I do not take off my bra, or put on pjs when I get home - but if it makes someone else feel comfortable and relaxed when they get home, that is just fine by me.

Petalflowers · 18/08/2018 20:07

I don’t have dangling bits either.

You can still do stuff in comfy clothes.

If. You are at home and not going out, why do you need to. Wear make-upetc,

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/08/2018 20:07

You’d love me op. I am the ultimate of decorum and style.

This time of year I wear jersey maxi dresses. Clean one in the morning for the day. Then I wear it in bed as it doubles up as a nightdress.

I am always dressed.

TatianaLarina · 18/08/2018 20:08

There speaks a small-titted woman.

Pepper123123 · 18/08/2018 20:08

Also, I am very thankful to have been blessed with good skin. I take advantage of that by very rarely using makeup.
I feel just as good about myself when I leave the house with no makeup as I do when I have some on.
My confidence and pride certainly don't come from how much product I put on my face.
Not that I think badly of women who like wearing it.

GrumpyOldMare · 18/08/2018 20:08

You'll hate me,then.

I never wear make up or heels.I get in from work, get a shower and straight into my pjs. I might not even brush my hair!
Right now,I'm sat here in my pjs,my manky, tatty slippers that have a couple of holes in and am very comfy. It's been a long old day - left home at 7.30 this morning and got home at 7pm.Leave home at 8.30 in the morning to do it all again.

I have pride in myself,I work, pay my rent and bills on time, and have brought up my (autistic)son alone. I've done good.Getting into my ratty pjs at 5/6/7pm doesn't change that!

imnotreally · 18/08/2018 20:09

Are you a time traveller op?!

What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?
DieAntword · 18/08/2018 20:09

Wearing my nighty at home. So comfy. Only ever wore makeup once in my life. Feels great, no sense of shame here.
