What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 19:11

I am genuinely asking this question out of curiosity not being inflammatory but I will no doubt be accused of this in typical mnet style! Anyway here goes-

I don't understand why some women are so proud of the fact that the first thing they do when they get home is to take their bra off and put pjs on.

A) I don't have time as when I get in from work there's stuff to do.
B) why would you want to sit there with everything dangling about

I think it is much better for your state of mind to have a bit of pride In Yourself, to wear a bit of makeup, clean clothes, brush your hair etc. On another note if your bra is so uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong bra!

what has wearing make up got to do with pride in yourself? I would say the opposite, wearing make up shows you are NOT proud of who you are.

Bambamber · 18/08/2018 19:20

What has make up, clean clothes got to do with taking your bra off? Hmm you do realise you can do all those things all while not wearing a bra?

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 19:21

I change into my pj bottoms, which function instead of sweat pants or whatever people wear at home, as soon as I arrive because..... THEY ARE SOOOOOOO SOFT AND COMFY.. Don't do the bra thing though with F size...

Chill out. Let people do what they want in their home. It's not harming anyone.

Faraway75 · 18/08/2018 19:21

My bra comes off at the door and is hung on the coat hooks with everyone's jackets and umbrellas Grin

SoyDora · 18/08/2018 19:21

I am very proud of myself. I am well read, fit and healthy, can hold a decent conversation on all sorts of subjects, a decent mother... I rarely wear make up though. I don’t take my bra off when I get home as I’m more comfortable with it on, but I don’t think I’d have less worth as a person if I did so.

SuperstarDJ · 18/08/2018 19:21

Nice try OP GrinGrin

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 19:22

And you are not supposed to keep make up on until you go sleep. It's not good for your skin

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 18/08/2018 19:23

As long as you don’t sleep in it, you’ll be fine.

dudsville · 18/08/2018 19:24

Pride only exists for those with boob support ladies. Come on. Get with the programme.

cheesefield · 18/08/2018 19:24

OP can't have much to be proud about in their life if the equate not taking their bra off with self esteem. Jesus Christ.

I have seen unbelievable improvement in my skin since I make point of taking make up off as soon as I come home and not wearing it on days off if I am at home. It doesn't dry out anymore. I actually don't have to worry about peeling patches and I am not even using so much less cream. Actually none now. Skin is soft, clean and hydrated.
But I understand everyone's skin is different so it would help to everyone

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 19:27

*wouldn't

Skyejuly · 18/08/2018 19:29

Nothing to do with pride. Just a bad patriarchal view that women have to look a certain way. Nah thanks.

That may be more to do with using products that don’t suit the skin. Everyone’s skin is suited to different things.

Certain foundations make me dry while others do not, it depends on the products.

Donthugmeimscared · 18/08/2018 19:29

I never change into my pjs or take my bra off when I get home but I never wear make up and don't even own any so I probably shouldn't leave the house. I honestly can't see why you care what others do in their own homes. It doesn't affect you and is frankly none of your business.

Fiirefly · 18/08/2018 19:29

The whole make up thing.. what makes you think everyone needs to wear make up?

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 18/08/2018 19:29

I bet my pyjamas are nicer than your clothes.

MysweetAudrina · 18/08/2018 19:31

Another one who doesn't feel the need to put stuff on my face to increase my self esteem. I do yoga every morning so when I am not working I am usually wearing yoga pants and vest top. I normally put pyjamas on around 9 and take off my sports bra then. I do like to shower and get dressed in the morning even if I am not going out otherwise I would just laze for the day.

pouraglasshalffull · 18/08/2018 19:31

I thought this post was going to be very different from what it was!

I agree people should have some pride in how they look in public, you do feel 10000 x better when you are a bit more made up, and I must admit I do sometimes find myself judging people who look like they have literally rolled out of bed and straight out their front door

But, why should people have pride in how they look in their own house? I spend my days being made up, in less-than-comfortable clothes, the first thing I do when I get in is put my PJ's on, put my hair up, makeup off and get comfy. A bit of a strange comment I personally think

chickenowner · 18/08/2018 19:31

Also, mine don't dangle. Perfectly pert thanks

Me too! Grin

I get changed as soon as I get home from work, then straight away sort out my clothes, breakfast and lunch for the next day (unless it's Friday) and make a start on dinner. I feed and sort out the animals, and then I can relax and put my feet up for a while.

I'm not sure why you consider that to be wrong?

DarthLipgloss · 18/08/2018 19:31

I have H cup boobs. Im happy with them, dp loves them, kids don't notice them.
However its nice to take my bra off at the end of the day as its hard working and sweaty. (Yes it fits well).
Also my job and social constraints make it difficult to walk round outside bra less.

InspectorIkmen · 18/08/2018 19:31

More GF'ery.

None of anyone's damned business what another woman does in the comfort and privacy of her own home!

NameChanger22 · 18/08/2018 19:32

My bra comes off on the way home and I never even bother to wear pants.

StorminaTCut · 18/08/2018 19:32

Grin oh great, the 1950s called OP, they want their apron & headscarf back.

Skyejuly · 18/08/2018 19:32

I'm still in my pyjamas.
