What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 19:11

I am genuinely asking this question out of curiosity not being inflammatory but I will no doubt be accused of this in typical mnet style! Anyway here goes-

I don't understand why some women are so proud of the fact that the first thing they do when they get home is to take their bra off and put pjs on.

A) I don't have time as when I get in from work there's stuff to do.
B) why would you want to sit there with everything dangling about

I think it is much better for your state of mind to have a bit of pride In Yourself, to wear a bit of makeup, clean clothes, brush your hair etc. On another note if your bra is so uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong bra!

You're so droll, OP.

winterdeballesteros · 18/08/2018 19:49

I don't get the bra thing. I'm only a C cup and find it quite uncomfortable without one, I wear them in bed too.

In all other respects I am a slob. I put my pyjamas on at 4pm today.

AynRandTheObjectivist · 18/08/2018 19:49

I gotta hand it to you OP, I really didn't think you were going to get any bites. I thought it was too obvious and too silly. But you were right. Kudos.

MissMarplesKnitting · 18/08/2018 19:51

Ye god's, leave each to their own.

Now, I prefer bra on until bedtime....but comfiest pants and hoody are ON as soon as I can get out of the uncomfortable work clothes.

Make up comes off, it's better for your skin and taking the day off feels great. You can let the lotions and potions do their work if they're put on in the right sequence, with time between.

Think of make up off time as having pride in your skincare regime.

As for PJ's, I'm with everyone else. I genuinely bought some printed trousers this summer as it is like wearing PJ's all day. Ultimate trousers as far as I can tell.

NettleTea · 18/08/2018 19:51

I dont wear make up.
I dont take my bra off because most of the time I havent got one on
I have plenty of pride in myself, but that has nothing to do with primping myself up to try to attain some marketting depts idea of what a woman should be. Who I am goes beyond some fat smeared over my face and a bit of wire under my tits.

(if you like make up thats up to you tho, your choice)

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/08/2018 19:51

I quite like seeing the neighbours come out in their pjs and nighties to put the bins out :) I suppose I could do that now since I don't have loads of running about with DSs to various clubs and stuff that I did when they were younger. I actually find my bras quite comfy so never felt the need to remove them plus I don't own any PJs so that probably also adds to it.

So, no I don't do it but i couldn't really care less about what other people do. I do draw the line at people in the supermarket in their nightwear though, how hard is it to pull on a pair of jeans and a top?

MissBax · 18/08/2018 19:52

Haha I thought this was gonna be about people shopping in their pyjamas or something, but you give a shit what people look like at home? How sad !

RaininSummer · 18/08/2018 19:52

I dont own pjs but do switch work trousers for jeans or leggings as soon as I get home.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/08/2018 19:52

@daffodil10 - I don’t want to shock you, but it is possible - in fact it is absolutely fine - for people to think and do things differently from you.

Two options occur to me, to explain why you started this thread -

1 - you have reached adulthood without ever learning not everyone is exactly like you - which would demonstrate a stunning lack of emotional intelligence.

Or,

2 - you started this thread to demonstrate how superior you, because you keep your bra on, don’t put on pjs, and do housework when you get home, unlike the braless, pyjama-clad lazy slater s your OP is so judgey about.

Neither option paints you in a particularly flattering light.

InfiniteVariety · 18/08/2018 19:53

I never wear make-up
And I have nothing that dangles

Tallula386 · 18/08/2018 19:54

OP- how do you do your housework in jeans?? Most uncomfortable house working/ indoors attire ever!!

Wearing jeans to clean the bathroom is as irritating as seeing people putting newborn babies in jeans.

I wore jeans all day and came home to get straight into my comfiest Gilly Hicks trackies. Bra is off and I still look a bit of alright Grin

Waxonfeckoff. I think you may have just opened another can of worms. There'll be a whole load of posts now on wearing pjs in the supermarket and how it's fine to do that 😐

SilverySurfer · 18/08/2018 19:55

Is that you Hyacinth Bucket ? Too funny Grin

When I worked, unhooking my bra was the first thing I did when I got home, even before taking off my coat. I retired fifteen years ago and have only worn a bra on six occasions since - 1 wedding, 3 funerals and 1 Buckingham Palace Garden Party. I'm fortunate that my boobs aren't large enough to dangle as there is no way in hell I am putting a bra on again. As for make up it must be 25 years since I wore it. Oh dear, what will become of me?

InspectorIkmen · 18/08/2018 19:55

You're so droll, OP

Is that 'droll' with a 't'?

Grin
JacquesHammer · 18/08/2018 19:56

Why would I be proud of myself for something that takes no talent Confused

Why would I be proud of myself for submitting to patriarchal constructs of what “woman” should look like, not least in the privacy of her own home Confused

I’d rather be proud of actual achievements

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 18/08/2018 19:57

There'll be a whole load of posts now on wearing pjs in the supermarket and how it's fine to do that

That’s not fine, ever.

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 19:57

Sdt don’t want to shock you, but it is possible - in fact it is absolutely fine - for people to think and do things differently from you.

But obviously not absolutely fine for me to think differently to you and have my own opinion

TheLittleThingsLikeVodka · 18/08/2018 19:57

You’d hate me, I had a bath this morning, then put on lounge pants and one of dps old tshirts (without a bra) and am still wearing it now.

SoyDora · 18/08/2018 19:57

I think you may have just opened another can of worms

Do you think you’ve ‘opened a can of worms’ with your OP? I think it can only be described as that when you’ve caused debate/argument between posters. As far as I can see, no one on here has agreed with you, so no argument.

This is going to go well.

pulls up a chair, grabs popcorn and removes bra

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/08/2018 19:58

PJs at home; normal “leisure wear”
PJs in the supermarket/ on the school run ; slovenly

Fakeflowersandlemonade · 18/08/2018 19:59

You would love me OP. I’m currently wearing DP oversized t-shirt and fleecy pj bottoms. No bra and shock horror no pants either. Wet hair piled on the top of my head in a crocodile clip. I’m the epitome of elegance.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/08/2018 19:59

If your jeans are that uncomfy, maybe you need different jeans? I have loads of pairs and wear then for everything except work :) I have loads of pairs. Just realised I am also sitting with a pair of converse on which aren't the most comfy either so I might just take those off and get in the spirit of Saturday night!
