Do you regret your tattoos

Moominfan · 10/08/2018 16:24

Been wanting a tattoo for years but I know I'm a fickle soul. I'll go through a phase of wanting a certain theme and it passes. I'd like a tattoo for a tattoos sake, but would hate to regret it. Does anyone regret their tattoos how long did you wait until you decided on one?

I did. Got it done at 18 and it was a bit, well, silly. Got it lasered off 10 years later.

GimbleInTheWabe · 10/08/2018 19:38

Have you seen this before OP?
Semi permanent tattoos could be a good option to see if you really like it enough to go permanent.

I have no tattoos and can't imagine ever having one. Seems these days more people have them than don't!

i have loads (full sleeves with one still in progress, my back, my legs), and don’t regret any of them.

2ducks2ducklings · 10/08/2018 19:47

I love my tattoos. I wish I hadn't had them where they are as I can't see them myself very easily, but I wanted to be able to cover them if needed.

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 10/08/2018 19:50

I had my first at 18, had it extended at 21, and have since had many, many more. I don't regret one of them.

specialsubject · 10/08/2018 20:00

never been able to find the answer to this - can tattoos be completely removed? I understand it depends on the colour but if you do regret it, does it go completely?

just curious! I don't have any because a) I don't like pain and b) I can't imagine any pattern/design I'd want for the rest of my life.

MaggieAndHopey · 10/08/2018 20:10

There isn't a definitive answer, @specialsubject. It depends on the colours in the tattoo - if I remember rightly, reds are hardest to remove, but also it depends on the sort of laser used. Black tattoos are the easiest to remove and yes, some tattoos will fade completely, though a lot of lasering is done just to fade tattoos enough to cover them with another tattoo!

ineedwine99 · 10/08/2018 20:15

Some yes, I'm getting those lasered off though. 4 of them i love

RedPandaMama · 10/08/2018 20:19

I have 2, got one at 18 and one last year at 21.

The one I got when I was 18 is big, and it's a very quirky design by an up-and-coming artist in Manchester who was only a trainee at the time. It's strange and to be honest a lot of people would probably think it's tacky, but I love it! It's quite big and goes all the way from the top of my bra on the side to my hip, no one really knows I've got it as you can only see it in underwear or a bikini.

Second one is a Manchester bee and that I love because of the meaning, but hate where I got it - on my bicep just above my inner elbox. It looks a bit odd on its own so I think I need to get some flowers put around it or something.

oblada · 10/08/2018 20:27

I love mine (2) and getting another one done tomorrow. They're done by good artists and they mean something. They're also easy enough to cover (upper arms and lower back). Overall very happy. May do more on my back in the next 10-20yrs, let's see. But not going to cover my forearms or legs.

specialsubject · 10/08/2018 20:42

thanks for the answer maggie.

strawberrry · 10/08/2018 20:43

I have 5, don't regret them but also wouldn't miss them if I didn't have them! They are very easily hidden so I forget I've got them half the time.

lynmilne65 · 10/08/2018 20:48

They are common as muck !

Hopeandeggs · 10/08/2018 21:04

I only have one. A Manchester worker bee as both myself and my daughter knew someone affected or who died.

No regrets at all.

Amen @nofuckingroomonthebroom.

Regret some, not others, laser removal hurts like hell and is super expensive so definitely think it through!

Lalaisloopsy · 10/08/2018 21:27

I don't like 1 of 5 but don't regret or hate it

Moominfan · 10/08/2018 21:28

Thanks gimble that's a great idea

I have seven.

I don't regret any of them really but I'm not keen on one (my first) as it's on my back and slightly off centre which annoys the hell out of me. Planning to add some bits to it to make it appear central.

GreenMeerkat · 10/08/2018 21:32

@Hopeandeggs sorry for your loss Thanks

I have the Manchester bee too

GreenMeerkat · 10/08/2018 21:34

Bore off @lynmilne65

LyndorCake · 10/08/2018 21:44

I have two phoenix on my side. I went on to have two disastrous relationships so I see them as me rising from the ashes, more beautiful and bold than before. Basically they made me who I am, who happened to be exactly who my DH was looking for.

Tbh, I forget they're there all the time. Mine are on my hips and side, not places I look very often. To me, they are no different than a birth mark or scar.

Megan2989 · 10/08/2018 21:49

Hated mine so much i had it removed, i once had somebody tell me i would be a classy lady if it was'nt for the tattoo i had!

dustarr73 · 10/08/2018 21:57
