Or are Audi drivers all morons?

6 week's holiday with DC and doing a lot more driving at all times of day and evening.

It's got to be 90% of the time, when there is a car up my arse, itching to take over, doing a lot more than speed limit, undertaking on motorway (when I'm at limit), not giving way etc it is mostly always an Audi!!

Why is this? Is it just me? Do you know any nice, decent people who drive Audi's? Are they all failed Nicky Lauder's? It's annoying me now. AIBU?

It's a universal truth...if you are a BMW or Audi driver, you're a cockhead!

BikeRunSki · 10/08/2018 20:26

I hope I wasn’t . I had an Audi as a company car about 10 years ago. I didn’t chose it, it was passed on from someone who left. I drive it pretty much like I drove the VW I had before it, and the Skoda I had next.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/08/2018 20:33

Veni, seeing as 19lottie has already put you straight, I'll just ponder, without expecting a reply, why you post without knowing what you're talking about.

There are some seriously vapid posters on this thread, it was a bit amusing, now not so much.

Unihorn · 10/08/2018 20:33

I think lots of cars attract a certain stereotypical driver. For example, Nissan Micra - old woman, Skoda - old people in general, Ford Ka - 17 yo just passed their test, Corsa/Polo - boy racer etc.

I'm generalising there of course but I don't think people should be so offended by the OP's suggestion. FWIW I have owned two Skodas and am 27 because I find them reliable and am 70 at heart Grin

mypoosmellsofroses · 10/08/2018 20:34

Have just swapped a trusty old Ford Focus for a TT convertible. 4 kids, so many years of sensible cars, very deliberate choice to have something a bit more fun now they are all grown up. Drive a lot for work and I'm very much a cautious driver but always aware of surroundings and drive to conditions. When you spend a lot of time on motorways you see that nobby driving isn't confined to high performance cars, just that they are sometimes more visible (and in greater numbers due to lease deals)

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/08/2018 20:45

lyingwitch

My 20 year old car has 375 hp.

It is limited to155 mph.

I think superfast is a car capable of in excess of of 190mph.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/08/2018 20:52

155 might as well be 300 given that it's difficult to exceed 120mph on the majority of the roads in the UK so your personal definition of superfast isn't really relevant in context, is it?

I think Mondeos are nippy enough for me and I wanted one. I had an Audi instead and that's quick enough too. I haven't tried it flat out and I don't intend to.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/08/2018 20:59

lying

That's not the point. If you say superfast it is comparable. A Mondeo, good as it is, doesn't bear comparison to a fast, super, or hypercar.

Imchangingmyname · 10/08/2018 20:59

Lying I think there are some very defensive Audi driving posters on this thread, too.

OP posts:
crazycatgal · 10/08/2018 21:03

The mondeo isn't super-fast. A 0-60 of 7.1 seconds isn't super fast.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/08/2018 21:04

and I think you're goady, OP. I'm sure the name-calling is thrilling to you which is why you started the thread.

crazycatgal · 10/08/2018 21:05

Sorry wrong stats, the current Mondeo ST has a 0-60 time of 8.3 seconds.

Imchangingmyname · 10/08/2018 21:09

Not goady at all! Only on MN are people 'goady'. Not my intention to upset people but I have genuinely noticed it and I wanted to know if it was just me!

OP posts:
crazycatgal · 10/08/2018 21:12

I find it's BMW drivers and then White Van men who drive like idiots. I've not really encountered any bad audi drivers yet.

Curious0yster · 10/08/2018 21:13

Of course you are being goady! Declaring a large proportion of the public as ‘morons’ based purely on the car they drive is offensive and bound to upset people.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/08/2018 21:18

But why is lying not admitting they know fuck all about cars?

Icepinkeskimo · 10/08/2018 21:20

I believe there are so many young men driving these Audi's like maniacs these days due to the finance that Audi have these days.

This is not a sweeping statement it's actually a fact. Audi A3's and S5's are the drug dealers choice of transport these days, great acceleration, solid German engineering, and smooth handling, it fits the bill for their needs.

An example of one such drug dealing moron is documented below:-

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/12/19/birmingham-crash-man-killed-smash-left-six-dead-drug-dealer/

Not all drivers of high performance German cars are morons, and I believe that if Audi hadn't introduced their finance deals, then yes the roads would be safer, but saying that there would be another manufacturer who would take up the gauntlet and allow these morons to drive like maniacs.

youarenotkiddingme · 10/08/2018 21:21

It funny but I've noticed a skewed tendency for Audi drivers to be the culprits - closely followed by BMW's!

Except I know there's some amazing Audi drivers it there and love the cars and would quite like 1 myself.

But I think every trip I've ever taken up the M3 has had me cursing "wanker M3 Audi twats" 😂😂

Curious0yster · 10/08/2018 21:22

Icepinkeskimo

You genuinely believe that roads would be safer had Audi not introduced finance deals?? That is ludicrous!

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2018 21:28

My last car was an Audi A8, now I have a Porsche.

I’m not a selfish driver but I’m impatient with idiots.

How can you be undertaken unless you’re hogging the middle or fast lane without actually overtaking anything, believing you’re in the right because you’re ‘at the speed limit’? That puts you in the wrong as that’s actually a driving offence. It’s not up to you to police the speed of other drivers...

BeautyBox · 10/08/2018 21:35

Audi and BMW drivers get a lot of stick but if I ever encounter someone driving dangerously or like a moron it's always either a Vauxhall, Peugeot or Renault. Or Citroen. My nightmare is being surrounded by Vauxhall Zafiras

Icepinkeskimo · 10/08/2018 21:45

CuriousOyster,

Sales of Audi cars to drivers under the age of 26 have gone through the roof since Audi made its finance easier to the said target buyer. The most popular car purchased by this target age group being the A3.

So yes I do believe that if Audi had not made this finance available this target age group the roads would be safer for all concerned.

The incident in Birmingham was possibly one of the worst road traffic accidents to happen in the city centre. Not only did the driver of the Audi kill himself and two other occupants in his car, but kill 3 innocent people in a taxi.

So you may think it is ludicrous, I wonder if those families of the innocent people in that taxi would agree with you.

The majority of morons driving these high performance cars are young inexperienced Male drivers, who can get an Audi on finance for a next to nothing deposit.

TooManyPaws · 10/08/2018 21:52

The police are coming to interview me on Sunday after a road rage incident yesterday evening when I was followed and verbally abused - by a BMW driver. The police officer in the control room who phoned to offer the appointment reckoned that he must be compensating for something. Yes, I did report it to 101.

Unihorn · 10/08/2018 21:56

We used to get lots of known drug dealers in my restaurant late at night. They all drove BMWs.

Corneliawildthing · 10/08/2018 21:59

You are right - our chavtastic town is full of Audis and most of the time I see bad driving, it is one of them
