Or are Audi drivers all morons?

6 week's holiday with DC and doing a lot more driving at all times of day and evening.

It's got to be 90% of the time, when there is a car up my arse, itching to take over, doing a lot more than speed limit, undertaking on motorway (when I'm at limit), not giving way etc it is mostly always an Audi!!

Why is this? Is it just me? Do you know any nice, decent people who drive Audi's? Are they all failed Nicky Lauder's? It's annoying me now. AIBU?

It's not Audi or BMW - it seems to be any German car brand, anyone in a 4 x 4 or anyone who just thinks their car is newer/bigger/more expensive than yours and therefore they have more right to be on the road than you are.

WoahBaby · 10/08/2018 12:15

You not heard the term 'audi wanker'? It's like this weird state that comes over people as soon as they get the keys to an audi.... So they can't help themselves but drive like a wanker.
[runs and hides]

Rainbowmelon · 10/08/2018 12:15

If someone's undertaking you on the motorway, and you're doing the speed limit, you're in the wrong lane...

Hamiltoes · 10/08/2018 12:16

I must be the opposite then because I get inexplicably annoyed when an audi driver in front of me doesn't drive like an Audi driver. Like doing 40mph on an NSL for example... why buy an Audi 😂😂😂

LadyLoveYourWhat · 10/08/2018 12:17

For @BiddyPop, just in case you are serious/it wasn't a typo

Or are Audi drivers all morons?
strawberryHaribo · 10/08/2018 12:17

Yeah. Especially 25 year old males called Tristan. HTH

Namelesswonder · 10/08/2018 12:20

So funny! I drive Audi A3. Talk about sweeping generalisations.

saltnvinegarchips · 10/08/2018 12:22

I always find it's bmw's.

Imchangingmyname · 10/08/2018 12:25

bluebug I am not a middle lane hogger, can't abide those either. So if I'm overtaking in the middle lane of the motorway and the fast lane is just as busy and an Audi undertakes me because they are above normal road rules and want to get ahead whatever it takes..then I'm in the wrong?! Ok then...

Shaboohshoobah1 · 10/08/2018 12:26

I drive an A3. It’s fucking amazing. I love it - I also drive safely and don’t tailgate. Only arseholes judge other people on the type of car they drive.

thenightsky · 10/08/2018 12:27

God I have this car-length issue with DH all the time on motorways. He makes me so fucking angry, hurtling along at 70mph hanging off the arse of the car in front and when challenged says... 'oh its fine, I'm a good two car lengths off him'. Grrrrr. I'm sure when I did my test it was meant to be 27 car lengths!

WarPigeon · 10/08/2018 12:27

As a biker I see the majority of car drivers as unobservant tits. the ones that normally always see me are the boy racers (I think it’s the amount of time they spend looking out for police cars!).

So no I disagree, it’s not just Audi’s.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 10/08/2018 12:28

Speaking as an experienced hitchhiker (not through choice) I can categorically state that there is no point in sticking out your thumb for an Audi, because they WILL NOT STOP. Ever.

I think that says something about the Audi demographic tbh.

WarPigeon · 10/08/2018 12:28

Thenightsky

It was 2 seconds in my day, or 4 seconds in the wet.

runningkeenster · 10/08/2018 12:30

BTW If drivers are undertaking you then you are in the wrong lane, not being observant by looking in your rear view mirror enough and should have moved over long before they came near you

Complete rubbish. Often it's simply because they're impatient. Someone is doing 50mph in the inside lane, you see them, you move over and you're doing 60mph. Undertaking impatient driver rushes up at 80+, comes past you, almost goes into the back of the car in the inside lane and squeaks past at the last minute. Yeah, great driving. Slow down, give the person time to overtake and then overtake yourself. Or use the 3rd + lane if there is one. Despite the middle lane sitter obsessives' view, it is better to move out to overtake in plenty of time rather than moving out at the last possible second.

Unihorn · 10/08/2018 12:30

It's definitely BMWs. I often wonder what people think when they buy one as surely everyone knows about the stereotype...

Tika77 · 10/08/2018 12:31

Yes, and BMW drivers even more so. I’m sure they’re all sent on a ‘crap parking’ dhort course before they get the car handed over.
(And I won’t start on the cab drivers in their Priuses who drive judt below speed limit all the time.)

Papergirl1968 · 10/08/2018 12:31

I don't have a problem with Audi drivers but by god, the majority of 4x4 drivers, especially of Land Rovers, are entitled knobs. Round here anyway.
They force their way through, cut you up, never let you out of a side street into stationary or slow moving traffic, and never acknowledge with a smile or a hand up if you give way to them.
Pricks.

Rainbowmelon · 10/08/2018 12:32

But if the audi in the left hand lane is going faster than you, who are you attempting to overtake??

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 10/08/2018 12:32

tbh BMW drivers are unpredictable, all kinds of people have them. Audi drivers on the other hand, are definitely twats.

Stopfeckinexaggerating · 10/08/2018 12:32

I drive an Audi Q7 and don't drive like an idiot. I have too much much respect for other road users and also love my Audi. 9 times out of 10 I have my kids and/or dogs with me so not going to risk anything happening to them.

Oakmaiden · 10/08/2018 12:33

Confirmation bias, I think it is called. You see a car driving aggressively - you look at the make. If it is for example an Audi or BMW you say "Bloody Audi/BMW drivers are all morons". You have confirmed your bias. If it isn't then you will just say "That driver is a moron" and dismiss the car make from you mind.

Gingaaarghpussy · 10/08/2018 12:33

I met an audi driver on a country lane once. She had just passed a passing place, so being the nice person i am, i stopped and waited for her to reverse back. Arm waving, from her, ensued.
She realised that i wasnt going anywhere because a) there was a corner behind me and b) the passing place was just behind her.
It would appear that she was a person who was crap at reversing.
As we passed each other, she called me some lovely names. I just said thankyou for letting passed. the kids were in the car as well

isupposeitsverynice · 10/08/2018 12:36

my husband bought an audi when he left me, so clearly yanbu at all Wink

Oakmaiden · 10/08/2018 12:36

And Warpigeon is quite right - you should always leave 2 seconds worth of distance between you and the car in front - 4 seconds if it is wet or there are other adverse road conditions.
