Or are Audi drivers all morons?

6 week's holiday with DC and doing a lot more driving at all times of day and evening.

It's got to be 90% of the time, when there is a car up my arse, itching to take over, doing a lot more than speed limit, undertaking on motorway (when I'm at limit), not giving way etc it is mostly always an Audi!!

Why is this? Is it just me? Do you know any nice, decent people who drive Audi's? Are they all failed Nicky Lauder's? It's annoying me now. AIBU?

OP posts:
AnguaUberwaldIronfoundersson · 10/08/2018 12:36

No, we're not. I observe safe distance and speed limits even though my Audi is sporty and high powered. In fact speeding and safe gaps are a bug bear of mine along with people who run lights...

Birdsgottafly · 10/08/2018 12:36

I know a few Female Area Managers who get good deals through their work on leasing Audi's and given that they travel a lot of distance during their working hours, it's a good choice. They are all tolerant/respectful drivers.

VW are also a good choice, we always had an VW estate. We could load it and the top box with camping gear and pull a trailer with no issues. (for the person who said it was any German car drivers).

You are probably confirming your bias.

PeakPants · 10/08/2018 12:37

I have the same experience. Nearly always male audi drivers though. I think that because it is a premium brand car and a bit of a status symbol, it (and BMW) attracts wankers in a way that other brands might not. My sister drives an audi so I know not everyone who drives them is an arse, but there is definitely a trend.

PattiStanger · 10/08/2018 12:37

You've lost the argument with your thread title, of course it doesn't apply to them all.

Oddbutnotodd · 10/08/2018 12:38

I have driven BMWs for a long time but not at the moment. I definitely can see that now more people cut me up because I’m not in a BMW although my car is quicker than average.

Only yesterday I was tailgated by an Audi driven by a woman. I agree a 2 second gap is a minimum. My car has a sensor which would let me know if I get too close to the car in front.

Agree with the Range Rover Evoke comment. They also tend to wear sunglasses!

problembottom · 10/08/2018 12:38

I loved DP's Audi A3, such a great little car to drive. Sadly so did the local car thieves who threatened him with a machete for his keys and used it in an armed robbery. I think they attract all types!

Figlessfig · 10/08/2018 12:39

My husband thinks drivers of all German cars are appalling, with special reference to Audi, BMW and Mercedes drivers.

I get a bit miffed about that, as until recently I drove Beamers for years and our eldest has a Merc.

BlueBug45 · 10/08/2018 12:39

OP if there is space in the inside lane for you to be undertaken by another driver then you are clearly in the wrong lane.

@runningkeenster why are you doing 60mph on a 70mph speed limit road. Are you a coach driver?

@Rainbowmelon I don't think the OP gets it.

LonelyStranger · 10/08/2018 12:40

Was a BMW driver for a long time, switched to Audi for a while. Now a Mercedes driver, so does that mean I’m a good driver now that the car isn’t BMW or Audi Grin

LuluJakey1 · 10/08/2018 12:40

4x4s are my bugbear. The number of people who drive them is ridiculous. Most never go further than the school run or Asda or shopping at John Lewis but they drive petrol guzzling, tanks designed for off-road driving.

Todamhottoday · 10/08/2018 12:41

I have an A8 and Im not a moron driver and have had other Audis in the past as well as BM's (would never go back to them either).

Its not the cars it the 'morons' who drive them

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 10/08/2018 12:42

Maybe some people are just jealous because they can't afford an Audi. I drive an A3 Convertible and always adhere to speed limits, etc. It is not fair to generalise on things like this.

Immigrantsong · 10/08/2018 12:42

OP here is a joke I once heard to make you smile every time you get frustrated with a driver:' what's the difference between a hedgehog and an AUDI (BMW...) Driver? In the hedgehog the pricks are on the outside, whereas on an AUDI car on the inside'!

BlueBug45 · 10/08/2018 12:43

@Figlessfig a few years ago when worked in a few different towns in the West of England I noticed that all Merc drivers would stop for me at zebra crossings without fail.

Looking into the cars the more sporty ones were generally driven by middle-aged and older male drivers, while the hatchbacks were driven by mum types - and this was regardless of ethnic origin.

Atthebottomofthesea · 10/08/2018 12:43

I am overall just a horrid person. I wear my Audi badge with pride.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 10/08/2018 12:44

Immigrantsong - oh how terribly funny.

Unihorn · 10/08/2018 12:46

MilkTrayLimeBarrel
Hilarious.

aliceinchunderland1 · 10/08/2018 12:48

You probably find this because there are lots of Audi's on the road. I have an Audi and am also not a twat.

JustTheLemons · 10/08/2018 12:49

You are bvu. It’s always BMW drivers.

Or are Audi drivers all morons?
Immigrantsong · 10/08/2018 12:50

@justthelemons Grin

knittingdad · 10/08/2018 12:52

AUDI = Arsehole Undoubtedly Driving It

That said, my brother-in-law had an Audi for a few years and he was a very calm driver.

I do think that people who drive as though they own the road, and everyone else should get out of their way, are more likely to buy a fancy car than, say, a second hand Skoda.

I definitely experience more hassle from drivers of a Ford Mondeo than a Ford Ka, for example.

CurlsandCurves · 10/08/2018 12:53

I drive an A6. I’m a careful and considerate driver.

I like to think I’m a nice person too 😊

Atthebottomofthesea · 10/08/2018 12:53

You don't need 20 odd car lengths inbetween, you need your thinking distance. The car in front will also travel whilst breaking.

The chevrons painted on the motorway are not 24 car lengths apart.(or 12 seeing you need to be 2 apart)

nervyuyt · 10/08/2018 12:56

YABU

Also, it's is Niki Lauda

Unihorn · 10/08/2018 12:57
