Pyramints
Tab coke
Treats the chocolates in a yellow bag before M&M's
chocolate cigarettes that came in a box to look real

SoSoFullTooMuchChoolate · 03/08/2018 21:39

Highland toffee (10p or thereabouts!!)

Penny (or even half penny) sweets :)

A decade or two later ... magnum chocolate bars (the best chocolate bar I've ever tasted! Never to taste again!!)

SoSoFullTooMuchChoolate · 03/08/2018 21:44

Oh and those smiths crisps where you add the salt (in a little blue bag) yourself!

sunshineandthunder · 03/08/2018 21:46

Galaxy truffle eggs
Gypsy creams
Coconut boosts

Topper bars - around in the 80's, nobody EVER remembers these! They were smaller than other chocolate bars and were nougat, toffee, crispies and chocolate. Sort of a mars bar/toffee crisp hybrid.

careerontrack · 03/08/2018 21:56

Pacers. Those stripy chewy sweets and fruit polls which always stick together

LithaFest · 03/08/2018 22:16

High-fives to the poster who said school chicken supreme!! It was pretty much grey slop but it was damn tasty! Did every school in the UK have the same menu?

itchychin · 03/08/2018 22:20

These! 😭

Definitely Secret Bars...

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 03/08/2018 22:49

Home Bargains do nerds and dweebs @litha

FissionChips · 03/08/2018 22:50

You can buy nerds from Wilkos.

I wished they’d bring Astros back.

pandarific · 03/08/2018 23:00

I'd kill for one of these. I wish they still made them. Sad

LithaFest · 03/08/2018 23:07

@PomBearWithoutHerOFRS wow, I've not seen them in years. Thought they'd gone. I shall definitely have a look next time I'm there 🙌🏻

whyisitsobad · 03/08/2018 23:07

This was my most favourite thing as a child 😍

OhNoes · 03/08/2018 23:35

KP WigWams

The coloured monster biscuits (can't remember the name of them but they had Red Devils, Orange Ogres, Green Gremlins, Lilac Loonies and Yellow Perils!)

Dracula ice lollies

Cresta strawberry pop

liz70 · 03/08/2018 23:57

Pacers i.e. Opal Mints not Fruits (can't even remember the "new" name for OF; that's how old I am. Just that they were "made to make your mouth water".)

McVities Ginger Bread. Only I would buy one now and cut it in half across the top, so I could scoff all the gooey soft top to myself.

Mr. Kipling Manor House Cake. See above but for crunchy demerara sugar topping. Although that's probably fucked with the new low sugar mandate. Sad

Funny Feet icecream lollies.

Cider, Lager and Lime and Cherry Brandy flavour lolly ices.

Chewy pink shrimp sweets (nearly typed sweeties; I've lived in Scotland for too long. Grin)

My mum's ham shank with lentil and split pea soup

My mum's homemade blackberry (picked from hedges, obviously) pie, served with vanilla ice cream

My mum's mince and carrots and onions, served with mashed potato and tinned sweetcorn. Simple and filling.

There are more, but that's all for now.

Starlight345 · 04/08/2018 00:16

@ohNoes they were called spooks

meerkatinmyUggboots · 04/08/2018 01:34

ProfessorMoody I spotted Trio bars in Co-Op the other day.

Anyone remember Fuse bars? they were Cadbury;s IIRC

meerkatinmyUggboots · 04/08/2018 01:35

Pringles don't taste the same either. I can't put my finger on what it is but they taste different. Stil good but nowhere near as good as before.

Why do "they" keeep messing with our food?

GrumpyGoose · 04/08/2018 02:01

@SoSoFullTooMuchChoolate I've seen magnum chocolate bars recently. Home bargains I think, or similar. Wilko and B&M are other similar stores near me so could be them. Did you know they did an Easter egg too? Probably be out right after Christmas!

Also agree with whoever said the chewy sweets in the net bag, long fruit flavoured stick sweets in paper? So. Good.

I often think about soured cream and chive walkers I had at a fireworks night with the spice girls on the front. The ones I've tried since never taste the same.

GrumpyGoose · 04/08/2018 02:08

Yes to mingles too. Visited a Lindt shop recently and their dark mint Lindor hit the spot.

barcodescanner · 04/08/2018 10:52

Things mentioned on here that we sell in the shop i work in.
Rainbow Nerds
Jolly Ranchers
Pop Tarts
Sweet Tobacco (not in a pouch though)

We also have small bits of honeycomb covered in chocolate (Honeycomb Bites)

Were the fruits sweets in a net called Fruit Bonbons

KittyB52 · 04/08/2018 11:18

I’ve seen Funny Feet for sale recently - might’ve been in a supermarket. I was on the hunt for Mini Milk, which I found.

I miss the vanilla Walls ice cream which came in small blocks in a wrapper. You unwrapped it and then had to manoeuvre it into a rectangular cornet or (for the pros) between two wafers.

And having Googled it, it seems to be made by Lyons Maid, with pre-decimalisation prices. So clearly I am older than I thought I was. Confused Grin
