to ask how often you have a bath?

I'm not talking about showers, I'm talking lying/sitting down in a tub.

We have been having one about 3 times a week (me and dp share bath water), but I'm wondering if this is too much? We shower the other days, obviously. I know people who never have baths as they say it's too expensive.

Does anyone know how much it costs to have a bath (from the water usage perspective?) Our ater bill isn't outrageous so I'm curious to know how much the baths could be adding to it.

Three times a week preferably. More in the colder months to warm up as I tend to get cold down to my bones.
Absolutely love a good bath and soak. Sit reading for one, watching TV on my phone. Wait for my hair to dye. Great for clay masks etc,. People comment on my good skin/complexion and I always think a long bath helps with it. Just once a week good exfoliation and/or facial mask.

Spicylolly · 01/08/2018 01:05

Last year was my last one, can't stand laying in water that keeps getting colder and colder and contains my own filthyness 😆

Beechview · 01/08/2018 01:12

Hardly ever. The only times I have a bath is when I’m ill and I don’t have the energy to shower.

I haven't had a bath for decades.

Showers are on average more likely to save water than baths. If a shower is less then ten minutes long and a bath is comfortably deep then you are probably saving water. If you take a very shallow bath however, you will save water over the shower, but why would you do that - you would just end up cold and wet - and YYY to Spicylolly's thoughts here.

And bleeuuuurgh to reusing bathwater.

cricketmum84 · 01/08/2018 05:43

I only have baths in winter one every other day with bubbles and wash my hair in the shower the other days.

It's too hot for a bath in summer so we only ever get showers. Although the length of time my 13 year old is in there it would probably cost more than a bath!

tomhazard · 01/08/2018 06:33

I bath a couple of times in winter just to enjoy the deep heat. Rest of the year it's shower only

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 01/08/2018 06:35

Maybe once every 3 months or if my shoulders hurting (lifelong shoulder issues) which again is only every 3/4 months or so. I’d rather showers and only really have time for showers.

AJPTaylor · 01/08/2018 06:37

Twice a day sometimes.
I love a hot bath. Helps me sleep. Fortunately i dont worry about the cost, our water bill is around 50 a month.

Redglitter · 01/08/2018 06:38

Hate baths & the space they take up in the bathroom. Think my last bath was about 30 years ago

mydogisthebest · 01/08/2018 07:49

I would say showers use far less water. When I had a shower over a bath I would occasionally put the plug in to see how much water I used. It was very little.

I am in the shower for about 5 minutes at most and can wash my hair in that time too (short hair)

Itchytights · 01/08/2018 07:52

Yearly

cooliebrown · 01/08/2018 08:39

we had new bathroom suite September 2016 - I have never had a bath in it, only stood in bath under shower...

MuddlingThroughLife · 01/08/2018 08:54

I have a bath almost daily usually but as it been so hot and I've been so busy I've been having quick showers instead.

When I have a bath I relax in the warm water either reading a book or watching the soaps/Netflix on my tablet. It's bliss.

Firesuit · 01/08/2018 09:20

Does anyone know how much it costs to have a bath (from the water usage perspective?)

The bath I'm thinking of buying holds about about 150 litres of water, and Thames Water price for supplying and removing 1000 liters is about £2, so would say the cost of water for a bath is £2 * 150/100 = 30p.

Firesuit · 01/08/2018 09:22

Obviously that's if you're on a meter.

And the calculations should have been £2 * 150/1000 = 30p.

spidey66 · 01/08/2018 09:54

Rarely. Sometimes if I fancy a pampering session eg facemask, deep conditioning treatment etc, but I don't do that often.

I used to have one sometimes to ease period pain but I've had a hysterectomy so obviously no period pain any more!

Shockers · 01/08/2018 09:58

Only ever if I’m in an hotel with a bath large enough for DH and me Smile.

Motortrader · 01/08/2018 10:01

Re: costs.

I shower frequently with the kids, who invariably put the plug in. It takes about 10 min to fill the bath with the shower running. So, if you enjoy long luxurious showers, you might not be saving money.

Bluelady · 01/08/2018 10:17

Every day. No water meter so our water costs are the same however much we use.

IncyWincyMouseRat · 01/08/2018 10:30

Once a fortnight maybe? Jump in the shower for about a minute most mornings, have a couple of longer hair washing, leg shaving showers (still probably 5 mins ish) per week and a very occasional bath.

We only have the immersion on very briefly each evening which is usually enough for us to do the washing up in the evening and still have a warm shower in the morning. DH mostly showers at work or has a cold rinse at home after training sessions. If I want a bath I have to remember to go and actually switch the hot water on! This makes us sound like we’re desperately poor or something! We’re just economical! For me it’s not about saving money but avoiding using a whole load of electricity and water we don’t actually need (we don’t have gas).

Hallendbak · 01/08/2018 10:33

Every morning and night. Only wash hair a few times a week though because of extensions

paap1975 · 01/08/2018 10:34

I've had one in the last 5 or more years

MiddlingMum · 01/08/2018 10:38

About once every ten years or so. But a shower every day.

jarviscockerslover · 01/08/2018 10:56

Never- but I don't have a bath. I'd love one!!
