to ask how often you have a bath?

I'm not talking about showers, I'm talking lying/sitting down in a tub.

We have been having one about 3 times a week (me and dp share bath water), but I'm wondering if this is too much? We shower the other days, obviously. I know people who never have baths as they say it's too expensive.

Does anyone know how much it costs to have a bath (from the water usage perspective?) Our ater bill isn't outrageous so I'm curious to know how much the baths could be adding to it.

My last bath was at least 55 years ago ! Grin

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 31/07/2018 21:13

I have a bath every day.

Cup of epsom salts and something nice-current fav Neals Yard but need to wait for it to go on offer!!

I don't really like showering and I love a bath.
I have turned into my Mother!!

Hushnownobodycares · 31/07/2018 21:14

Once a year whether I need it or not Grin

Actually, daily in the evening. Love wallowing in me own muck, me.

Everyoneiswingingit · 31/07/2018 21:15

Often in the winter, never in the summer.

clippityclop · 31/07/2018 21:16

A handful of times a year, mostly in winter and always at the end of the day. Hot baths with good smellies, possibly a candle, wine and a book sorts out most things. Dh usually hops in too Shower every day otherwise to wash hair, shave legs.

MamaMumMama · 31/07/2018 21:16

Daily, I get in after the kids

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 31/07/2018 21:16

Twice a day.

Bugjune · 31/07/2018 21:16

I'm like Gemini69, shower every morning to wake me up and get clean and have a bath every night for relaxing in. I buy a crappy magazine to read, wallow in either bubbles or salts, use the time for shaving legs, face masks and I wash my hair in the shower afterwards, before I go to bed. Love it.

AlpacaLypse · 31/07/2018 21:19

I last had one in a divine Victorian bath at an airbnb, which didn't have a shower. Bath itself was lovely but getting out again was hell. I have joint problems. However hostess had left a pile of bath books to hand, so at least I'd enjoyed the first two chapters of Rivers Of London again... and took it off to bed with me after I'd finally struggled out!

Ellie56 · 31/07/2018 21:20

Hardly ever and only then if part of me is aching and I think a soak might do it good.

mindutopia · 31/07/2018 21:21

Last time I had a bath was when my first was born (5.5 years ago). I hate them. I take long showers though, so no better at water conservation. If you enjoy it, then enjoy it, I guess.

LeftRightCentre · 31/07/2018 21:21

About 4 years ago in a nice hotel. Showers all the way.

AlpacaLypse · 31/07/2018 21:22

Oh and in answer to OPs actual question - twice in last twelve months. Showers are for getting clean. Baths are for warming up when soaked to skin in snow and mud. Luckily I only got truly soaked once this winter.

SlimGin · 31/07/2018 21:23

Probably more than we should since we got a water meter installed.

I hate washing my hair in the shower, and my shower has a horrible habit of flicking from boiling hot to cold, then taking ages to get warm again. So I stand there naked and freezing in a bad mood until the water comes back. I probably waste enough water doing this it could half-fill my bath.

Also I get so much done in the bath e.g. ordering things for the house, replying to texts!

Hassled · 31/07/2018 21:23

Pretty much every day. It started off as my escape from the kids when I was a SAHM - DH would come home from work, we'd eat and then I'd have 20/30 minutes alone in the bath reading the paper while DH dealt with the madness downstairs. It kept me sane. Now the DCs are pretty much grown up but I still have that post-meal bath.

mrsm43s · 31/07/2018 21:23

Pretty much never. I'm generally bored of the idea before the bath is run. Love my daily showers though.

DH is a bit of a fan of baths, with bubbles and everything. He'll happily slope off to have one if he gets an opportunity. Probably more in the winter than in summer though.

graysor · 31/07/2018 21:24

Never. Takes too long to fill, can’t get the temperature right. Uncomfortable to sit in, different bits getting too hot or too cold. It’s boring, and then need to have a shower after anyway to wash myself and hair properly. Definitely can’t see the point of them myself!

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/07/2018 21:26

Very occassionally in the winter e.g. if I have a cold or have been out on a particularly cold day. Never in the summer because we are not on mains water (comes from a well) and so I feel that baths just use too much.

I do shower every day though!

DH is the same.

DS is four and generally has a bath most days but has been having showers lately due to the water situation.

OkMaybeNot · 31/07/2018 21:27

Hardly ever. I never feel clean.

SunnyLikeThursday · 31/07/2018 21:27

Twice a day often, but I am secretly a mermaid.

BMW6 · 31/07/2018 21:28

I haven't had a bath for about 8 years.

Tunnocks34 · 31/07/2018 21:28

Every Friday night, when the kids are in bed with a glass of red wine and a face mask. I use bubbles, salts, dim the lights. Bliss.

Yogagirl123 · 31/07/2018 21:29

I never use the bath due to mobility issues, I prefer walk in shower I use the shower daily.
