To be upset that the NHS 'pay raise' has cost me a grand?!

Just this.

My pay is £86 down this month. That's £1,032 a year. What a lovely reward for a decade of service.

I'm glad I voted no. Sorry NHS staff hate to strike.

Silence from Unison, full formal apology from RCN & this from RCM.

Aye sounds about right from the RCM. They’re beyond useless.

Treesaw · 27/07/2018 00:16

I’ve just checked my bank and my wages are so much lower this month. I’m top of band 5. How does that even work??? I need to get my wage slip. I’m gutted.

MadameJosephine · 27/07/2018 00:32

The problem in our trust with people appearing to lode pay seems to be for those who had received an increment since April. The pay calculator that payroll are using is based on the pay point you were at on 31 March 2018 so it fails to account for what’s happened since then. If you contact payroll they should be able to correct it on an individual basis

This pay journey tool is useful www.nhsemployers.org/your-workforce/2018-contract-refresh/pay-journey-tool

PunchtheClock · 27/07/2018 01:23

We get paid the last Wednesday of the month. Im off sick so i only got basic anyway. Im the top of my band 6 and work 33 hours. Thats another issue. Has anyone else been forced to take longer breaks so they can get an extra shift out of us a month? Hence why half of us dropped to 33 hours.

Treesaw · 27/07/2018 01:28

punchtheclock that’s awful. Makes me so angry.
I can’t sleep now because I’m so upset about my wages. I’m £150 down from what I expected. I’m on sick pay too this month so was only expecting basic wage anyway. But I can only just cover my bills with what I’ve been paid. I was expecting my back pay too so put an extra £100 on my credit card. I’m seriously gutted. Must be a mistake surely but don’t even know when I can get to work to get my pay slip because I’m on crutches. Sad

WarPigeon · 27/07/2018 01:40

Forced pay rises are a mistake. If the budget itself is not increased your pay rise merely has to come from elsewhere in the pot.

This what has happened to me. I got my increment in May and the pay rise I got is based on my previous increment. I can't find anywhere that says when the pay deal is effective from.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 27/07/2018 02:09

I voted for action up to and including strike last week with GMB. We were the only union who called them out from the start.

giggly · 27/07/2018 02:14

Come to Scotland to our our devolved NHS which Westminster can’t touch👍🏻 I’m a top 6 and have just got an n extra £120 a month😳 with another 6% in the next 2 years. I’m absolutely worth it and happy that it covers no tea/ lunch break for the last10 years🤪

Until the Brexit power grab. 😢

1st April.

TopperHarley · 27/07/2018 08:01

Wow I've just read this and I'm absolutely livid. I knew the RCN had misled its members (including me) but I didn't know some people would be worse off. Fucking cunting Tories AngryAngryAngry

Myrnafoy · 27/07/2018 08:35

Punch the clock Same situation in our trust so many people work 34 hours rather than 37.5. Not paid for breaks but because we have them we’re not fulfilling our contracted hours So every few weeks we have to work an extra shift Shock

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 27/07/2018 08:42

pay journey

Those are the figures from the calculator in March. The 1.1% lump sum is paid at the start of year 2 in April 2019.

Unison are suspiciously quiet. I would have negotiated my pay/banding in April if the figures had been accurate.

StealthPolarBear · 27/07/2018 09:09

"hula008

I've looked on the NHS pay calculator today (not the RCN one grin) and my pay I received this month is around £1000 less! I was point 2 in my band but I've now gone into starting"
You are £1000 down? Shit what are you going to do?

PunchtheClock · 27/07/2018 09:11

And I’ve just found out we no longer get paper payslips, is that everywhere?

AgathaMystery · 27/07/2018 09:15

Tree saw & punch just an aside about you both being off sick so on basic pay. There is provision within the NHS for HCP to be paid an average of their salary whilst off sick.

Let's say you work 33 hrs a week & 24 hrs of that is nights that you do regularly then you can rig payroll and ask for your average anti social hours to be added in.

It's no big deal, it's done all time

OP posts:
AgathaMystery · 27/07/2018 09:16

Posted too soon - your union steward should be able to help you claim it. There is no need to be on basic pay if you average a lot of anti social when off sick.

Our are online, but we still get the paper ones. Although they’ve been late for the last couple of months.

missyB1 · 27/07/2018 09:28

So DH (hospital consultant) has worked out he should in theory get an extra £18 a week, BUT his pension contribution and NI will go up so that will cancel out the extra money. Basically at best he will be no better off, at worst he could be worse off. He already takes home less than he did 10 years ago.

rupertpenryswife · 27/07/2018 09:30

We are completely on line this month no paper ones, I cannot yet access the app so only managed to briefly check it at work the other day. Also someone was asking about pay dates we get paid on the 24th of each month unless it falls on a weekend in which case they bring it forward.

It's really sad to hear about what is going on in some trusts with breaks and things, our trust pushes the 12 hour day but if you want to work short shifts they have altered the hours so you always owe time so, early is 7-2 with 1/2 hour unpaid so total 6.5 hours the late is 2-8 with 1/2 hour unpaid so only 5.5 hours. Did you also notice no hand over time if you are on an early you have to wait for the late to come in at 2 so you are usually 1/2 late off and we just accept this 🙄.

NeedHelpWithOutfit · 27/07/2018 09:31

I'm a nurse on point 18 and because I've been moved back to point 17 I'm actually £47 a year WORSE OFF before I even take into account higher deductions Angry

Undercoverbanana · 27/07/2018 09:38

Jesus Christ. This is outrageous. I’m not an NHS employee but I am an NHS user and so proud of it. I have never experienced anything but the most amazing service from the NHS. What is this government trying to do to you all? FFS.
