Just that really. I'm interested in what people consider to be far right and what people think causes it and what should be done about it.

I think it's caused by inequality and people feeling hopeless.

OP posts:
DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 02:11

Aah! You're a Corbynista!

All makes sense now.

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 02:17

#notacult

...apparently.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/07/2018 07:38

I dislike Brexit, that’s all Grin

It must be hard for Brexiteers when they realise what the great project was and is actually doing. No wonder they get upset about words like collusion. Doesn’t sit well with take control back, I suppose.

ImAIdoot · 30/07/2018 07:58

You’re cool with racist incidents going up, with the great leaders Farage being an anti-Semite, with jacob Rees mogg hiding his money, with David Davis doing fuck all and then fucking off, with no solution to the Irish border, with companies leaving the U.K, with the fear among business communities, Nhs, farming, social care, with stockpiling of food and meds, with the insecurity of eu citizen in U.K. and U.K. citizens in the eu, with leave campaign illegal overspending, with racist and untrue poster campaign, with illegal targeted ads, with putins backing, with Arron banks leaves biggest funder having repeated secret meetings with Russian officials

There's the slander.

When even you personally can stop lying about others as a kneejerk tactic to close down debate in this thread , then perhals you can act like it's a ridiculous idea that people do it more generally.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/07/2018 08:15

Don’t you mean ‘violent’ slander? Grin

Or were you referring to the fact she called me a corbynista?

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 09:49

It is a post full of lies Helmet.
You made up a list of things & suggested that I have expressed those views at some point.

I have not.

It's people just like you that have poisoned political discourse. You lie, obfuscate & attack others to shut them down.

Your posts are perfect example of what's gone wrong with political discourse all wrapped up in a perfect cliche.

Do you carry on like that in real life, or just online?

Helmetbymidnight · 30/07/2018 12:40

Anyone who supports Brexit has to accept that this is what they are supporting.

I know they don’t like it- and like to do the, ‘oh but I voted the Norwegian model’, or but ‘I’m not a racist’ but this is who they’ve throw their lot in with.

A random person on the internet pointing out that’s what Brexit stands for? That’s what Brexit is?
Oh yes, that’s all the problem with the world today.
Grin

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 13:05

Anyone who supports Brexit has to accept that this is what they are supporting.

Utter bollocks.

Your posts are perfect examples of the reactionary, narrow, shallow thought processes that have become prevalent in today's political discourse.

What a wonderful cliche you are!

Helmetbymidnight · 30/07/2018 13:17

I’ve read all your posts! you can’t really think you’re saying deep or meaningful, do you? Seriously? GrinGrin

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 13:24

I’ve read all your posts! you can’t really think you’re saying deep or meaningful, do you? Seriously?

Yet another fabrication from you.
You're a real stranger to truth aren't you?!

Please do point me to any post at all where I have said that I think this.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/07/2018 17:39

so we agree, there is nothing deep or meaningful in your posts. Hooray!

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 18:00

so we agree

Confused I haven't 'agreed' with you.

I objected to your weird obsession with making up things I've apparently said.

You really need to stop telling porkies.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/07/2018 18:12

Says the poster who said brexiteers are regularity called nazis on mn and Twitter Grin
Brilliant.

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 18:15

They are.

Moussemoose · 30/07/2018 18:22

Everybody is called a Nazi. Get over it.

Jeremy Corbyn has been called a Nazi.

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 18:24
Confused I'm over it - don't worry. It was just a statement of fact.
thecatfromjapan · 30/07/2018 19:02

Weird de-railing of thread about rise of Far Right.

Daisy are you or aren't you disturbed by the attempt to mainstream the Far Right?

It's a Yes/No answer.

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 19:08

I'm equally concerned about the rise of both extremes, right and left.

An earlier poster summed it up better - it's the rise of ideology & identity politics, along with the accompanying hate for those who don't stick rigidly to the prescribed dogma that are the problem.

And fwiw, I'm not trying to derail anything.
I just won't ignore blatant lies is all - especially when they are about me.

SillySallySingsSongs · 30/07/2018 19:11

I'm equally concerned about the rise of both extremes, right and left.

Yep me too.

DaisyTwirl · 30/07/2018 19:13

Wrt not adhering to prescribed dogma - you only have to look at an active thread on brexit where the OP & others are being vilified for not being 'proper remainers' because they aren't sticking to the 'We're All Doomed!' script.

It's extremists in all walks of life & politics that are the problem:
Left/right
Leave/Remain
Etc etc

thecatfromjapan · 30/07/2018 19:44

Except that ... it is the Far Right who are massively well-funded and an actual, present threat at the moment.

Seriously.

If you are posting in good faith - indeed, anyone on here posting in good faith - can I urge you to set aside some time to think about the threat specifically posed by Steve Bannon.

Please.

I do not believe his views are acceptable to the bulk of Conservative MPs. Now is the time - if you have a Conservative MP - to write and express your dismay at Gove and Johnson legitimising him and his aims by meeting with him.

This is not me attacking the Conservatives - Far from it.

Whatever diplomatic letter your MP writes back, my suspicion is that they will be glad to have evidence that this is a poor direction of travel for the Party.

There is almost certainly a leadership challenge in the offing.

Do not let Bannon get a toehold.

Help the Conservative non-Far Right MPs get a bit of backbone and keep this man far from the Party.

Seriously, this is a plea, really, to people to not let a legitimate, mainstream Party become a Trojan Horse for the Far Right.

It really, really matters.

Justanotherlurker · 30/07/2018 21:05

I agree with being very wary of Bannon and the shit Boris etc, but to say the left are not well funded is a little naive.

thecatfromjapan · 30/07/2018 21:30

Not in the same league as. An on. He's a nexus.

That network HAS to be stopped.

It's potential to undermine democracy - from all angles - is a present crisis.

I'm actually horrified that our political structures are so big-tied at the moment, the UK isn't moving in this with urgency.

thecatfromjapan · 30/07/2018 21:30

Hog-tied.

Bloody phone.

Justanotherlurker · 30/07/2018 22:20

Not in the same league as. An on. He's a nexus.

Well you admit both sides are being supported..

That network HAS to be stopped.

4 legs bad, 2 legs good..

It's potential to undermine democracy - from all angles - is a present crisis.

Matter of opinion and insinuates that without funding the right will be non existent.

I'm actually horrified that our political structures are so big-tied at the moment, the UK isn't moving in this with urgency.

There is a reason why the lerch to right is a global issue and it goes far deeper than funding, it requires some introspection instead of trying to find a bogeyman.
