Just that really. I'm interested in what people consider to be far right and what people think causes it and what should be done about it.

I think it's caused by inequality and people feeling hopeless.

OP posts:
PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 26/07/2018 16:31

pretending that there is no problem with the far-right today is properly the stuff of morons.

Humour me then, what threat does the UK currently face from 'far right' parties? What is your definition of a 'far right' party?

Helmetbymidnight · 26/07/2018 16:31

They are anti Semitic they have done the sums and thought fuck it more Muslims than Jews so fuck the jews

What the fuck is that? What is this idea that Muslims and Jews are ‘opposites’? You know they can actually get along. There are Jews and Muslims in the Labour Party and Jews and Muslims in the Conservative party.

Metoodear · 26/07/2018 16:32

ImAIdoot

I would call it the re-classification of normal politics as far right.

The main stream is about where they always were - broadly right of centre on some issues, broadly left of centre on others, it's just that now people are labelled right wing nutters for things that have been uncontroversial to say for basically all of our lifetimes.you will be told your a bigot for wanting women only spaces

For example

ragged · 26/07/2018 16:33

yanbu (I'm increasingly concerned about Bots on MN, too)

Did I say far right party? Did I? No I didn’t.

So why should i provide You with a definition of a far right party? Look it up yourself.

counterpoint · 26/07/2018 16:38

The U.K. has the most far right party in the whole of the EU as we are Brexiting. Can't get more far right than not wanting migrants or to mix with other states.

But we are great at pr so make out every other country has more far right voters and activists.

Sadly the Labour Party have courted the Muslim and Asian population as a whole they have used dog whistle politics they know being anti Semitic plays well in some quarters

Bramble71 · 26/07/2018 16:39

I can understand why you'd feel this way, OP. I certainly believe that it's slowly beginning to happen, not just in the US but here and across Europe, too. Extremes are certainly crawling out of the woodwork and the likes of Rees-Mogg are coming to the fore slowly in politics. I think it will be an insidious process, creeping up on us.

I've just see a tweet from a Tory MP, publicising a crowd-funding effort to pay a fine imposed on Darren Grimes for, I think, electoral funding breaches. To me, this is completely wrong. He needs to be punished, not have the public paying his fines.

It seems that in the last 10 years, anything that isn't 'far-left' is classed as 'far-right' to nobody’s benefit. Like the idiots who make remainers look stupid by saying leavers are racists.

longwayoff · 26/07/2018 16:44

Its very scary. Look at the first few posts here. Jeremy Corbyn can only be described as far left because of the increasing polarisation. He is a socialist. Not a communist. Not a Zionist but not anti Semitic. The very fact that he is increasingly demonised as if he has Hitler in one drawer and Stalin in another is evidence of the increasing influence of the far right and its penetration of the media. Drawing on more politics of the thirties, Steve Bannon has fully absorbed the lessons of Dr Goebbels and is putting it all into play. Its extremely depressing.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 26/07/2018 16:47

Did I say far right party? Did I? No I didn’t.

No, you just heavily implied it

Metoodear · 26/07/2018 16:47

And anyone who thinks the Us has ever been anything else than right wing is clearly not African American or Mexican

They even started on the Asians now

Most of the university have started applying harder entry tests for Asian students stating they are becoming over run

This is currently being tested in the courts as we speak

counterpoint "The U.K. has the most far right party in the whole of the EU as we are Brexiting. Can't get more far right than not wanting migrants or to mix with other states."

I just despair at comments like this! I'm going back to the stories about cheeky next door neighbours, it's less depressing.

MrSpock · 26/07/2018 16:48

YANBU, I worry about it too.

thecatfromjapan · 26/07/2018 16:48

About 30% of a YouGov poll claimed they'd vote for a Far Right Party.

That's a problem.

Personally, I think it's a lot of people who felt that it was their birthright to be positioned above various minority groups. They are furious that this isn't how the future they believed they were promised has planned out.

They are furious with those members of minorities who have succeeded and now have positions of authority and power - however limited.

They are furious with the liberals who have pushed for systems to enable such progress.

They loathe progressives: progressives have taken away the future they were banking on.

Where you or I might see progress, and a move towards equality, or an attempt to dismantle privilege, they just see theft of the future they were counting on. A future in which, however little they had or achieved, they could reassure themselves they were at least positioned above those minorities.

It's a terrifying, angry, hate-filled place they live in.

And then there are the extremely rich, libertarian capitalists who seek to ride the wave of that anger, feed it, fund it, fuel it - and profit, profit, profit from it.

Screwing down wages and workers' rights and public benefits and narrowing opportunities - secure in the knowledge that the haters will go along with their own lives becoming worse, just so long as those minorities and liberal enablers are prevented from rolling out equalities that make them feel bad.

It's sick. A real sickness in politics. A demon that has been unleashed.

I find it terrifying. And I think every one of us needs to resist.

Metoodear · 26/07/2018 16:48

Jewish people do not agree with your statement

That JC is not anti Semitic and for do I

MrSpock · 26/07/2018 16:50

Not all brexiters are racist, but all racists are brexiters.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 26/07/2018 16:51

"To the barricades comrades.................."

"Guys?"

"Hello?"

Guys?

I agree. And its diaguating.

Metoodear · 26/07/2018 16:53

am black am I am furious with liberals

I prefer centerists most people are in the middle with their view

Men don’t belong in women’s jails m
Men cannot be women
But now thanks to the so called liberals they can what progress

Black people are still more likey to be in jail the have a degree so not much progress their then

Just like fucking Corbyn the liberals love a rally and a banner but do fuck

All watched a documentary about the New York time raging against the racist DT
Then they were asked how many black journalists they employ
1 nuff fucking said

WidowWadman · 26/07/2018 16:55

Families ripped apart by arbitrary earnings thresholds, much needed workers prevented from taking up job offers due to arbitrary rules designed to reduce numbers no matter the cost, people held in indefinite
administrative immigration detention in places where abuse through staff is rife and investigations into such abuse are stifled by government and nobody seems to give a fuck.

This has been getting increasingly worse over the last few years (May as home secretary was instrumental in this). This is not normal. Or at least it shouldn't be.

SilverySurfer · 26/07/2018 16:59

Same old. Hope you're being paid well for this tripe OP.

Very well said PanGalaticGargleBlaster

As for Milliband making a good leader, I laughed out loud. When he led the Labour party he was totally inept, which culminated in him forgetting to mention the economy in his last Conference speech although I reckon it's because he didn't have a fucking clue about the economy, same as all Labour leaders.

We have no far right parties anywhere near gaining any power in this country.

Helmetbymidnight · 26/07/2018 16:59

No, you just heavily implied it

Humour me. Where?

TheNumberfaker · 26/07/2018 16:59

I am more worried about the fair left
Such a great typo!
