Mine was £15 from ebay. It was a Monsoon wedding dress, unworn with tags still on. I bought a petticoat to go underneath for another £20.

Very fortunate as I hired one from an amazing designer. One of her samples fitted me, she altered it into a halter neck which I was dead set on, and I paid £250 which included some accessories. Had I bought it, her dresses start at £4,000. Obviously I don't have the dress to keep but that didn't bother me. I had the necklace and shoes to keep.
She had just made dresses for two friends of mine (wealthy friends!) hence I feel I got lucky as she doesn't usually hire.

12 years ago I should add

About £300 in the early 2000s

It was handmade with silk and chiffon but very simple, as were most at that time.

My mum paid for it and said she would pay for whatever I wanted but I just couldn't justify spending thousands, no matter whose money it was.

£50 off ebay but it's a little mistress dress.

salsamad · 23/07/2018 22:58

Mine cost almost £900 in 1994, brought for our wedding in 1995.
My parents paid for it and it was from Pronuptia.
It was a beautiful rich cream colour and made from heavy bridal duchess satin (100% silk). The gown had a full skirt and full, long sleeves (that was the fashion then). It had very pale pink and gold embroidery on the bodice, sleeve cuffs and on the skirt.
I've still got it boxed up in my loft.

Enko · 23/07/2018 23:02

it cost me £250 for the silk £50 for the pattern (specially made) and a bottle of wine for the aunt of a friend who sewed it for me..

Dhs suit cost more back in 1996

Pronovias from a local wedding shop. £1600 Blush

My groom wore a hired tuxedo for £80.

I wish I had bought one of the cheaper dresses. Our wedding was not actually as expensive as the dress suggests. It was 60 guests. No massive hen/ stag dos, just drinks with friends.

It is a lovely dress- which I will never wear again and doesn’t fit anyway anymore as my ribcage expanded after having kids

madcatladyforever · 23/07/2018 23:07

It wsn't I made it myself. Cheap as chips and completely unique.

defineme · 23/07/2018 23:11

£800 In 1998 handmade for me, I designed it.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 23/07/2018 23:12

It was a Maggie Sottero at £1200 in my local bridal shop.

bobsandvagene · 23/07/2018 23:12

£90 from BHS wedding range (was half price in the sale) and was actually lovely!

mummabubs · 23/07/2018 23:13

£600 for a sample dress (Sottero and Midgley) that I loved but could never have justified paying full price for (nearly £2000). I spent another £100 on alterations as the sample was 3 sizes too big. This was in 2016.

wombatron · 23/07/2018 23:15

£1600 + another £250 for alterations. It was Maggie Sottero

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 23/07/2018 23:24

£1900 for my Madeline Gardner dress and belt, bought in 2013. I loved it but wish I'd got a cheaper one tbh!

Missingpate · 24/07/2018 23:21

£190 earlier this summer from an online sale. We eloped and i was adamant i didn't want to spend more than c.3/400 as it would have seemed so wasteful and at odds with the relaxed feel of the whole thing. Was sure I'd find one in Monsoon or Debenhams but didn't like any I tried on and was starting to think I wouldn't get one in time - only stumbled across my dress by chance desperately looking for budget dresses. Got it a month before and loved it, was perfect, and came with a wrap/veil as well 😊

Saltandsauce · 24/07/2018 23:48

£100 from Debenhams in 2005, and it was fuckin awful! Absolutely have no idea why I picked it, but have regretted it since (thankfully not the wedding, just the dress!) xx
