£1000 inc hoop and veil

mrsFruitLoops · 22/07/2018 14:59

About £140 from ebay (brand new) Knew what I wanted, saw this one, Loved it, sizes all matched mine and didn't want to spend a fortune on something I would wear once. It was perfect.

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 22/07/2018 14:59

Mine was £1000 in 2006. My mom paid half. It was a Benjamin Roberts dress from a bridal shop in my hometown.

blueskiesandforests · 22/07/2018 15:00

£60. Got it from eBay Grin It was exactly what I wanted. The idea of a bridal shop and fittings made my skin crawl. My shoes actually cost more, about £85, and were ruined by grass stains during the reception, thought the money on shoes (very nice sandals) wouldn't be thrown away because I'd wear them all summer... Oh well.

Sassi Holford. between 1800 and 2000 not certain. In 2006. My Grandfather had left me a legacy to buy my wedding dress which I only found out about when I went to try them on so I spent more than usual and bought a French lace bolero/cape too to go with the dress that I can give to my daughter.

blueskiesandforests · 22/07/2018 15:00

That was in 2003 I think

Chrisinthemorning · 22/07/2018 15:01

£1500 altogether including all the accessories. Pronouvias dress from a small boutique.

Chrisinthemorning · 22/07/2018 15:01

In 2006

specialsubject · 22/07/2018 15:02

£30 from Miss Selfridge, I think, couple of decades ago. Got a lot of wear from it as I wouldn't have been seen dead in a silly white frock, so it was a usable dress. Might even still fit now.

0lgaDaPolga · 22/07/2018 15:02

£1050 plus alterations in 2015. It was from a small bridal shop and was given a discount as it was the shop sample.

SwimCap · 22/07/2018 15:02

Skirt - £45 from and Etsy seller that made it.
Top - £40 from an online corset shop.
Shoes were custom Converse, about £60ish IIRC

Haberpop · 22/07/2018 15:03

The cost of mine is probably immaterial as I got married 30 years ago and made my dress. I have just bought my daughter's wedding dress, it was £1100 (the alterations cost me another £200) and she looks stunning in it, I cannot wait to see her on the day.

blueskiesandforests · 22/07/2018 15:03

I couldn't have worn my mother's dress even if I'd wanted to, as I'm 8 inches taller than her and probably wouldn't have fitted my rib cage into it even if I'd been skeletal, let alone my actual boobs...

birdladyfromhomealone · 22/07/2018 15:03

Mine was £125 in 1984 I bought it myself.
Last year I bought my DD dress for her from Pronovias £3,000

Twofer · 22/07/2018 15:05

£75 from LK Bennett last year, just needed a simple white dress as DH and I were eloping and it was perfect!

HLBug · 22/07/2018 15:05

£3240 Blush 10% off over valentines weekend took it down to £2916 which made it seem like a "good deal". Ian Stuart designed. Sold it after the wedding and got about half back so not all bad. Used that money to then buy some new sofas.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 22/07/2018 15:05

£3.5k including veil. In 2000 though so feels a bit embarrassingly extravagant now. My parents paid. My mum discussed the budget with the store owner and I wasn’t allowed to know the price of anything I tried on.
My parents were very excited about my wedding. I was just excited to be marrying my dh. My mum had the wedding of her dreams. The only thing I chose were my shoes.

HLBug · 22/07/2018 15:05

That was in 2011 I should've said

Nichelette · 22/07/2018 15:06

£895 with veil but before alterations in 2016. It was a mori lee and came from a local shop. It was actually one of the cheaper ones in the shop though I didn't know at the time. I never really treat myself so I was ready to pay whatever within reason for one I loved. It is a lot of money but it was beautiful, I felt amazing and I don't regret it. That said, if my circumstances were different I wouldn't get into debt for one.

sanityisamyth · 22/07/2018 15:06

Mine was made from scratch for me by a seamstress my mother knew. I paid for the material and she threw in the labour (and any alterations) for free. Cost about £300 I think.

Lancelottie · 22/07/2018 15:06

About £100, I think? Made it myself so it's hard to be sure.

ShesABelter · 22/07/2018 15:07

1250 got in a local bridal boutique it was morri Lee.

S0upertrooper · 22/07/2018 15:08

My DM and I went for a mooch in a bridal shop and we were shocked at the queue 😱 I popped into a kilt hire shop 5 mins before closing and they had a sale rail of dresses. £250 Ronald Joyce-only dress I tried on and it suited me fine!

Mulberry72 · 22/07/2018 15:08

1.8k in 2005.

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/07/2018 15:10

£550 in 2013. I had it made by a local lady
