To think that young adults are stuck on a toddler’s diet

Is it just me, or is there a trend for the messiest, sweetest, fattiest dog’s dinner of a dish amongst 20 somethings who pronounce it “amazing” and say “we HAVE to go here”?

I’ll post a couple of pics to illustrate. Maybe it’s just in Liverpool, but it seems to be that they’re all into the equivalent of the ice cream factory at Pizza Hut.

I mean, it's novelty food. They're not subsisting on insta-waffles.

I think you mean 'some' young adults - just like some adults really

lots of young adults just eat food - like other adults

Do you mean teenagers eating what you'd expect a threenager to choose themselves for dinner?
It seems to be the fashion these days to eat the most odd combos, all you can eat options and sugar overload. No wonder sugar tax hey!

My DDs are in their 20's and wouldn't touch that ice cream monstrosity.

Im in my 30s and would definitely eat that waffle. Doesnt mean I dont eat growm up food as well.

It's because they look good on Instagram. What's the harm? It's fun, it's a novelty, and it's a talking point. I doubt anyone, 20 something or not, is subsisting entirely on waffle cones and candy floss. In fact, young people today are generally healthier than older generations - health consciousness has really surged and young people are now less likely to drink, more likely to eat healthily etc.

Also, I really wouldn't feed either of the above to a toddler!

Looks impressive, but the idea of a candy floss burrito is making my teeth twinge.

It's that frog spawn bubble tea I don't understand.

No of course I wouldn’t feed that to my toddler. Maybe I should have said “pre-teen”. A child, anyway.

It looks like the thing we woukd have made at home in the 70s when we were 9 when our mates stayed for tea. A bit of this, a bit of that, some Ice Magic. And then you realise it all tastes a bit shit put on altogether and just mess around with it....

I know they can eat what they want, but I just wanted to know if anyone on here can see the appeal?

I'm always a bit shocked by those video recipes that turn up on Facebook, they are so unhealthy!

Like Nutella pizzas with crap sprinkled all over the top. Just sugar on sugar on sugar.

I mean, I know most people only eat stuff like that once in a blue moon, but there is a connection between this kind of shite and the obesity crisis.

But I don’t think it even looks impressive, personally. It just looks a mess. What do do when you eat a mouthful of ice cream with M and Ms? The ice cream sort of melts and you’re left with cold, hard m and ms that need chewing. Nah.

I can personally say that the bubble waffles from the Baltic Market are delicious and I'm a long way from being a young adult.

Bubble waffle/egg waffle cones are delicious and have been around in Hong Kong since the 1950s so doubt anyone on here has toddlers who pre-date them!

No drama. Just wanted to canvas opinion on whether it appeals to adults generally.

I get novelty food. I like a bit of smoke and fake grass and all that, a la Blumenthal. That’s fun.

And I like a lot of overly sweet stuff. Another highly rated tapas restaurant near to me doesn an amazing Nutella cheese cake.

This just doesn’t look either fun or tasty to me. It just looks like a pain to eat. And fine with all elements eaten separately. But together it just looks like someonr using up half packets of this and that.

I think they drink less than we did. Sugar's the drug of choice.

They might drink less alcohol. But the odd thing to me is that they insist on Diet Coke and then gorge themselves on the most calorific messy dessert in existence. It’s a nonsense.
