To think that young adults are stuck on a toddler’s diet

Is it just me, or is there a trend for the messiest, sweetest, fattiest dog’s dinner of a dish amongst 20 somethings who pronounce it “amazing” and say “we HAVE to go here”?

I’ll post a couple of pics to illustrate. Maybe it’s just in Liverpool, but it seems to be that they’re all into the equivalent of the ice cream factory at Pizza Hut.

Yes, the cocktails sound good, but the food puts me right off. What should I eat if I don’t like the look of the dog’s dinner desserts? Apart from halloumi fries?

Then go somewhere that serves what you do like? I'm assuming there is more than one restaurant.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/07/2018 18:14

Flisspaps: they look nice. I’d have the salt and pepper Sui mai

But why do you have to understand the fuss? Can’t you just accept that other people like different things to you? Confused.
I personally dislike most desserts. Can’t see the fuss at all. Don’t care what other people choose to eat though.

This was from the ice cream man, whatever happened to a 99? My friend bought it for her DC , they all had a stomach bug afterwards l swear it was from this !

@CurlyhairedAssassin glad I found something for you (if you're near there, make the trip. There's lots of sensible food on offer besides the enormous delicious multi coloured desserts!)

Mrsmadevans · 15/07/2018 18:17

They had 1 each Hmm

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/07/2018 18:18

Soy, my point was that I don’t know anyone my age and older that would like that type of food. I’m mid 40s. Fair enough if younger people like it. I just wanted to know if it’s a thing now among 20 and 30 somethings to choose that type of sweetie type mess over, say, an Eton Mess.

For many years i was eating or have eaten many or one of said novelty food, I was once addicted to Professor Whizzs Chocolate bumpies back in the 80’s. But in the end it's probably a sign of our times overindulgence and lack of moral responsibility.
is it not written, He who has taken of the wine and became drunk will lay uncovered in their tent. It is laid bare for all the basics, in a way and all can see it.

And i guess we all shall see.

SoyDora · 15/07/2018 18:19

Well I’m 33 and no, it’s not a thing amongst me and my friends as far as I’m aware. No idea about anyone else, I haven’t asked 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’d imagine some people in their 20’s and 30’s like that sort of stuff and some don’t. Like anything really.

CherryPavlova · 15/07/2018 18:20

No, none of mine would eat those. Thinking about what the youngest has eaten today, as she’s home and out to work.
Avocado on thin bagel for breakfast with apple juice.
Lunch was tabbouleh salad, an apple and a flapjack. Water to drink.
This evening she ate with the rest of us so a nice pink lamb, dauphinois potatoes, roasted, carrots, beetroot and shallots, green beans.

Mine like real food cooked from scratch. They wouldn’t go near a restaurant that served those revolting concoctions.

Sashkin · 15/07/2018 18:20

It doesn’t look radically different to an M&M McFlurry, and plenty of people eat those...

StrawberryStar · 15/07/2018 18:20

But it tastes delicious although there is much better food to be had there

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 15/07/2018 18:20

What's a chocolate bumpy?

PinkBuffalo · 15/07/2018 18:21

I'm in my 30s. I think the original pud looks amazing! I probably wouldn't eat it though.
I drink diet coke as I don't like fat coke
I have never eaten eaton mess Grin

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/07/2018 18:22

Even when I was younger I wouldn’t have wanted to eat a McSlurry, so maybe jt’s just me.

I can still remember the Knickerbocker Glory in my local Kennards! Mmmmm.

We all go through a phase of eating rubbish food. But we grow out of it pretty quickly.

Flisspaps · 15/07/2018 18:29

@CurlyhairedAssassin in your OP you said 20 somethings, now some 30 year olds have piped up and you're now saying everyone under 40 Wink

SoyDora · 15/07/2018 18:30

I’ve never had a McFlurry so not just you.

slashlover · 15/07/2018 18:33

I love a McFlurry, it's an occasional treat though.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/07/2018 18:37

Flisspaps, I don’t know that many people on social media in their 30s. I do know people of my own age and older, and people in their 20s (my generation and older’s offspring)

Seeing as there are people in their 30s coming forward onhere saying they’d like those desserts, I added that age group to it.

I think yabu in worrying about what other adults chose to eat. Much like worrying about other people sex life, it’s really none of my business and has zero effect on my life.
Let it go love.

GetToFuck · 15/07/2018 18:47

Full fat Coke tastes like shit though. Diet is less sweet and I like that.

Mondkind · 15/07/2018 18:50

I think I get it. All I get on my social media feed sometimes (I subscribe to quite a few food channels) is a load of sugary rubbish thrown together - all nice treats by themselves and may be okay in combination with one or two others, but some recent cafes etc. appear to pride themselves on stuff like sugary milkshakes with peanut butter, mountains of sweet cream, sprinkles and cake on top. More than enough to fill the calorie intake for a day and the sugar intake for a week.

I understand they are supposed to be treats, but to me, they are just gluttonous.

GetToFuck · 15/07/2018 18:53

I thought all this was just the fall out from the popularity of Man Vs Food?

ProudThrilledHappy · 15/07/2018 18:56

I need one of those candy floss burritos

spectacularly misses point of thread
