To think that young adults are stuck on a toddler’s diet

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/07/2018 17:36

Is it just me, or is there a trend for the messiest, sweetest, fattiest dog’s dinner of a dish amongst 20 somethings who pronounce it “amazing” and say “we HAVE to go here”?

I’ll post a couple of pics to illustrate. Maybe it’s just in Liverpool, but it seems to be that they’re all into the equivalent of the ice cream factory at Pizza Hut.

I think we should just give it a rest slagging off young people really. They study harder than we did, use less drugs and alcohol than we did have a much harder time buying a house and getting a secure job (not 0 hours) have to do unpaid internships. I grew up in the 1980s, my diet was shit.

I totally agree with this sentiment. OP, you do sound like a joy sucker, pursing your lips in disapproval at the 'young folk' and their decadent dessert choices.

Putyourdamnshoeson · 16/07/2018 18:55

I thought they only are avocadosHmm

Racecardriver · 16/07/2018 19:08

Well at least it isn't glitterfood. Glitter coffee, glitter beer, glitter fucking pizza. It's inhumane. Just thinking about it makes be feel a bit Envy

lily2403 · 16/07/2018 19:29

I have a toddler and no way he gets this type of food,
If you're in your 20's then you're allowed to eat what you want ...I on the other hand just felt myself adding lbs as I looked at those pics

bubblegumunicorn · 16/07/2018 20:31

Hi millennial over here! We are the internet generation where we can find childhood nostalgia at the touch of a button where people my age play with toys on YouTube and binge watch kids tv shoes from the 90s and 00s because we don’t want to adult today! So yeah probably but we didnt grow up in a lot of ways but so what we’re not hurting anyone are we?!

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 16/07/2018 20:36

After all look at the state of the world we've been left.

LoveInTokyo · 16/07/2018 20:52

OP, most young people don't actually eat that stuff very often. It's fine once in a while as a novelty.

Tbh I think the current generation of toddlers who aren't allowed to eat chocolate or anything that isn't some kind of organic vegetable which had lullabies sung to it in the vegetable patch are far more likely to want to rebel and eat any old shit as soon as their parents no longer control what they eat.

I'll never forget a colleague complaining to me that her two year old was given chocolate cake at a birthday party and I was like, "And...? ... ... ... Ohhh yes, very bad, how awful!" Hmm

Leontine · 17/07/2018 01:08

Yes you are being massively unreasonable! It’s just a bit of fun.

I don’t really get the mentality of trying to dictate what ways other people can or should have fun based on what age they are.

Thinking that people shouldn’t eat certain food items because they’re too old is so weird to me.

hellokittymania · 17/07/2018 02:03

I was a very picky eater in my early 20s, so I don't think I would have eaten this. I did like sweets, but I was picky about even those.

Semster · 17/07/2018 03:58

There are plenty of really healthy food trends out there right now too, but I guess they don't give people like the OP a chance to whine about millennials so they're not getting a mention.

Cherrygardenst · 17/07/2018 04:21

I love sugary, fatty foods. Have done since a teen and never grew out of it. Chocolate, ice cream, biscuits... All together!!

I have a BMI of 20 and weight 9.2 stone.

The trick to not gaining weight is to eat hardly naff all else Grin

Sissyjd · 17/07/2018 05:30

100% agree Op. What a nasty mess! Not appetising at all!! Like unicorn vomit if unicons did vomit that is!! 🌈

parkermoppy · 17/07/2018 06:10

I agree that that kind of food looks revolting, but different people have different tastes and some have a really sweet tooth. I think the thing I don't agree with here is putting an age on peoples tastebuds. People of all ages eat this kind of stuff, and people of all ages also don't eat this kind of stuff

SharronNeedles · 17/07/2018 07:17

I think OP creates and sells these types of desserts and is using this as a market research/marketing ploy to gain interest. If so, well done!

Leapfrog44 · 17/07/2018 09:52

Pretty disgusting looking (inc. noxious polystyrene container!) and a good answer to why they are all so fat - or headed that way.

I take an 'eat it or eat nothing' approach to feeding kids so they don't grow up fussy or with a taste for junk. When they're really hungry (i.e. haven't been stuffing faces between meals) it's amazing what they'll eat.

Last night's dinner for example was butter bean stew, wild rice and salad from the garden. That's all there is, so if you don't eat it, you'll go to bed hungry.

MsFrizzle · 17/07/2018 16:29

Hmm
argumentativefeminist · 17/07/2018 16:42

We're all so fat because we know it pisses you off hiphopfrog 😂

NaiceHamble · 17/07/2018 17:13

I sort of get what you're saying, OP. I've really noticed the rise of the 'pile 'em' high' celebration cake, with heaped doughnuts, macarons, meringues, cornets, flakes, etc, stacked precariously onto a very tall layer cake with drip icing running down the sides. It's that wild gluttony thing.

OftenHangry · 17/07/2018 17:18

It's just once in a looooong while treat. Food trends have been moving towards healthy food normally.
This is just a novelty, something to make your "not on a diet" day special. Once a year. I don't know anyone who would eat this on regular basis.

MsBagelLady · 18/07/2018 09:59

I wouldn't feed that to a toddler, I mean how mental would all that processed sugar and colour send them? I never made special meals for my toddlers or teenagers, we ate food I cooked, mashed up for little ones. Luckily my teenagers' eating crappy food fad didn't last long.

Flisspaps · 21/07/2018 13:31

@CurlyhairedAssassin today I am at the Baltic because of you Grin

corythatwas · 21/07/2018 13:37

Funny but most fat people I see around me seem to be middle-aged.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 21/07/2018 13:40

Flisspaps: Grin at the Kinder surprise just thrown on there.

Enjoy! Not my thing at all (as you’ve probably guessed) but you go ahead and fill yer boots!

Well that’s kind of a point to consider, that unless you’re already of a very slight build and massively into keeping fit, once you get to a certain age you tend to put weight on anyway even if you don’t eat that stuff (I am living proof of that). I hope the more naturally slender millennials who are reading this are prepared for the shock of middle-ages spread. It’s rather disconcerting if you’re someone who has never had to watch their weight in their life before!

I don’t know anyone middle-aged who would choose (or be able) to eat that stuff regularly so it’s probably just as well as we’d all be needing to get around in disability scooters. If you eat over a thousand calories in one dessert fairly regularly and you’re middle-aged with a sedentary job there is no doubt you’d end up HUGE eventually. Your metabolism couldn’t cope with it.

So maybe it’s just that younger people have a natural taste for these things because they burn the calories off naturally and so DONT put that much weight on with it.

WaterOffaDucksCrack · 21/07/2018 16:45

This thread has got silly. Now that I do agree with! All the "my kids wouldn't even look at such desserts, they would much prefer an avocado" and the "one serving would last me three weeks" and the people finding it unimaginable that anyone could eat it. Its pathetic.

You know what? Yes they probably do look childish but you wouldn't feed it to a toddler would you?! The creator probably understands most people have an inner child and don't get their kicks from sneering at others for what they consume! It's supposed to be a one off bit of fun.

Oh and I'm in my 20s but I know the same amount of people in their 30s 40s and 50s who are on social media!
