To think it's ok to sell your virginity?

I've seen a couple of things recently about young women, usually 18-22ish selling their virginity for over £1m, sometimes even more. There was one on This Morning a while ago, saying she wanted to save for uni, start a business and help her parents buy their home. Everyone is always horrified by the idea, but AIBU to think it's worth it for an amount of money so massively life changing?

I lost my virginity to a boy who I was in a 'relationship' with and we liked each other, but it was awkward and painful and far from the ecstasy I'd imagined, and we broke up 2 months later. Most other people I have spoken to about their first time it didn't have that 'wow' moment either - mainly we just wanted to get it over with.

If you could fetch £1m, why wouldn't you?

Marrying an older guy and keeping him happy for a few years is hard work with no guarantee of a good pay off. In addition i wouldn't marry someone i wasn't in love with.

Whereas £1m for one night of seedy sex is do able.

Moronically repeating “choice” completely overlooks the fact that choices aren’t made in a vacuum. Don’t you ever wonder why we don’t live in a society where women trade young men for money? Is it cool to live in a culture where one sex has more power and money and doles it out to the other based on youth and sexual attractiveness? And once you’ve lost that chucks you on the scrap heap?
This system shits on all women. Even if you can work it to your advantage for 5, maybe 10 years, after that you’re fucked. And the ugly old men still have all the money, power and control.

A million times this ^^

Exactly what I've been very inarticulately trying to say.

cmlover · 14/07/2018 13:44

race car driver..... I would judge some one more for marrying just for the money, as your hurting other people, the man any children you bring into it, they'll know there's no real love there.

selling your body your not hurting any one. imo sex work should be made legal and should have regulations. , it would make the conditons safer for woman and men workers, the amount of trafficking would go down as it's no longer black market, and thouse who do get hurt will be able to feel like they can go to the police.

Justtheonequestion · 14/07/2018 13:44

Tyhers i suggest you work on your anger towards women and towards sex. You clearly have issues arising from somewhere. Calling other women whores really isnt normal. Unless you are projecting because your husband has used one.
You sound vile and misogynistic. No woman is a whore. Her body her choice. And more moral than being an OW.
How do you think women should have to have sex? Flat on their back in the dark with one person forever? Do they have to be married, or the same age? No difference. Its a penis in a vagina.

UpstartCrow · 14/07/2018 13:46

Do men ever sell their virgin anus?

cmlover · 14/07/2018 13:46

it's no different to abortion right ir laws, wether you agree with it or not peopĺe who choose to do it should be able to safely.

cmlover · 14/07/2018 13:47

upstart yes... there is plenty of gay men who would sell their vinginty m. what an odd question.

NanaNoodleman · 14/07/2018 13:48

Go away and read about how legalisation works and what the experience of prostitution is like for women and see how great an idea you think it is then.
I don’t want my daughter growing up in a country where the law regards her body as a commodity like scar or tin of beans thanks very much.

Royallypissedoff1 · 14/07/2018 13:48

A woman wants to sell her body for money?
'She's a slut with no morals!'

A woman wants an abortion?
'It's her body and her choice!'

Women should be allowed to make their own choices without being shamed for doing things that are perfectly legal! Both involve the female body so surely as neither are illegal, we should just live and let live rather than shame other women for making their own decisions?

This is no different to the abortion argument that says that women should control their own bodies.
Anyone who says otherwise is slut-shaming and shaming women for making their own choices about sex.

Justtheonequestion · 14/07/2018 13:48

Probably upstart, since the customers are also men.

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 14/07/2018 13:50

The Holbeck area of Leeds shows that legalising prostitution doesn't turn it into the "safe" environment one would expect.

NanaNoodleman · 14/07/2018 13:52

Another choice chanter. Get a new mantra, it’s getting stale.
Have we forgotten how to think? Or do people just go round with their eyes closed and never even open a fucking newspaper?

Typhers · 14/07/2018 13:54

Wait what? A whore is someone who sells sex for money, that’s not hate that’s just a basic understanding of the English language. It’s entirely a woman’s choice but you can’t then get upset when the actions are looked down upon by the majority of people.

cmlover · 14/07/2018 13:54

so people shouldn't be able to make their own choices... unless they run it by you and you agree.

so only your choice is acceptable?

No, a whore is an abusive term for any woman engaging in sexual activity which society deems unsuitable
I think you need to work out where your hatred of sexually active wonen comes from. Youre very bitter

Justtheonequestion · 14/07/2018 13:58

Same as slag slapper easy prozzie tart. Not credible language just terms used by people lacking in intelligemce towards women.

Rebooting · 14/07/2018 13:58

From the article linked above:

“Any government that allows the decriminalisation of pimping and sex-buying sends a message to its citizens that women are vessels for male sexual consumption”

UpstartCrow · 14/07/2018 13:59

It's not an odd question, I I just don't see it happening, and I don't see people pretending its empowering for young men to do it.

Typhers · 14/07/2018 14:00

Oh don’t be ridiculous, the feminist minority aside most decent people would be appalled at their children making money through prostitution.

cmlover · 14/07/2018 14:00

you do realise there is a large amount of sex workers who are male to right?

and a proportion of woman who pay for sex as well.

UpstartCrow · 14/07/2018 14:02

'Women do it too'
OK. Do tell us how many male prostitutes are murdered every year by female punters.

Rebooting · 14/07/2018 14:03

Whataboutery.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 14/07/2018 14:07

The vast majority of male sex workers are for men

Even now years after the sexual revolution and women being free from fear of unwanted pregnancy the male sex for sale to women industry is almost minimal

Woman are not conditioned to believe they have to have sex and that it is sort of ok to pay for sex if you aren’t getting any. After all it stops so many men raping Hmm
