I know I know. We should enjoy it but oh my god, I am so uncomfortable.

I've hardly slept for that past 3 nights. I feel irritable and headachey.
My living room is currently a toasty 29 degrees and that's with a huge fan and all of the windows open.

Please tell me I'm not alone with not loving a hot UK!
And before anyone says about all of the snow we had, I would much rather have that. Much easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

I feel like I'm the scrooge of summer!

flopsyrabbit1 · 09/07/2018 00:01

here humidity 64% atm

gonna sleep downstairs again

SheldonandPenny · 09/07/2018 00:05

DH has just gone off in a hurrumph because I need the window open. I have a suspected autoimmune disease which makes me heat intolerant. I'm swollen everywhere with a low grade fever. He needs blackout blinds and heavy curtains and closed windows. I put up with this with each of our summer born babies. I've just refused. He's angry...I'm still hot...

flopsyrabbit1 · 09/07/2018 00:26

this on twitter, its an amateur but im seriously gonna be watching the forecast

i really cant take any higher heat

Sheldon
Sorry but your dh sounds like a right selfish arsehole!
Who in their right mind would insist on wanting windiws closed in this weather? ... the heat is unbearable with the windows open!

Your 'd'h should be more concern with your health concerns than his own selfish needs. How disgusting of him to get the arse with you!

He could always wear a sleeping eye mask to block out the light, or better still, he can piss off to sleep in another room where he can close the windows/curtains. He's unbelievable.

Neededastealthname · 09/07/2018 09:20

The worst things about this heat have been my grouchy toddler and bloody inconsiderate neighbours! My ds goes to bed at seven and I can't have his windows open because despite having gardens the children in the two houses next to me play right outside our house, sometimes with musical instruments, sometimes ringing a bike bell repeatedly but mostly just shouting and screaming, that I can just about accept 7 is still quite early. My biggest issues has been barking dogs, especially next door, sometimes it's 10pm or 6am but this morning it was 4:20am! I had to close the windows during the coolest part of the day! Can't wait for tomorrow.

bsbabas · 09/07/2018 09:26

Its too hot for sex!!!!!!! I think me and my partner are going to kill each other.

Bluelonerose · 09/07/2018 09:32

I feel so grouchy and agitated all the time. Is this why crime/violence and murder is so prevalent in hot countries?

^ this GrinGrin howling and slightly interested

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 09/07/2018 09:37

This heatwave can fuck right off. I'm 6 months pregnant (but carrying like I'm ready to drop according to all the twats who feel the need to keep telling me how big I am) and I've had enough.
I can't sleep in this heat, neither can my 4yo so we're both irritable. I'm on my feet most of the day at work in a building with no air conditioning and it's a nightmare trying to find clothes to wear that are appropriate for work but even remotely comfortable.
This heat is making me feel dizzy, sick and want to kill everyone! Poor DH Grin

lynmilne65 · 09/07/2018 09:38

Your have your wish today

HollyGibney · 09/07/2018 09:39

I'm fine till it hits the thirties then I start feeling really sick and weak. It's dropping down to 23 here tomorrow and I cannot wait! 🙏

LoveLifeLive87 · 09/07/2018 10:15

If your pregnant or suffer from any type of medical condition, it's fair to feel fed up. I remember being pregnant in winter and even then my feet were swollen and felt like they were on fire!
Everyone else shut your chops! Winter was long enough and this weather won't last either.
This is the weather we have to pay to enjoy so your getting it for nothing!
Be grateful we all have electricity and can use appliances to help ease the heat, instead of moaning and being so ungrateful, take some time out and feel privileged. There are people in 3rd world countries who have this most of the year round without the amenities!

Simple hack if your fan is just blowing hot air.......

While your awake
Keep a spray bottle filled with cold water, even some ice cubes to keep water colder for longer. next to you, especially at night, this saved me in my 2nd trimester pregnancy.

Spray yourself arms legs face etc etc and awwwww feels like air conditioning. Yeh a bit of a pain to keep doing it every 5 mins or so but the pleasure it brings is bliss! Smile
_
When you want to fall alseep_
Use a thin fabric sheet, cotton or linen. A flat bed sheet will do too.
Rinse it under cold water and wring it out completely or keep it a little wet, whatever you can bare. Place that on top and it will instantly cool you down with the fan air even if the air is blowing hot.

CurbsideProphet · 09/07/2018 10:41

I'm relieved others feel the same. I've had a terrible headache for weeks now. It's miserable. I'm so jealous of those people floating about looking glamorous and serene. I just feel a crumpled messSad

LanguidLobster · 09/07/2018 10:51

Has anyone read predictions about how long this will go on for?

I think someone said on a thread (maybe even this one!) that it's the longest sun spell since 1976

Bluelady · 09/07/2018 11:04

According to the forecast for where I live it's sunshine all the way to the end of next week, which is as far as the forecast goes. Personally I'd like it to last until the end of September.

Wdigin2this · 09/07/2018 11:10

I love a nice hot summer, but I'm retired and don't have to be anywhere, or do anything I don't want to! BUT, the humid nights are getting to me too!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 09/07/2018 11:10

YABU. This weather is great.

It's only 18 degrees today here in Yorkshire. I am not impressed.

flamingofridays · 09/07/2018 11:11

To make it worse I think ds is totally intolerant to heat. For the second time this year he's woken up sweaty and asked for s drink and thrown up 20 mins later. He did it in May when we'd had a hot weekend too. Nobody else got sick or had been sick so doubt it was a bug.

We're going to spain at the end of August and now I'm dreading it.

worstmovieever · 09/07/2018 11:12

I feel so sorry for my son & my mum who are both suffering with asthma & hay fever because of the heat. Both on steroids and both feeling just awful. We have just decided to move abroad with work so taking mum with us to somewhere much more comfortable and cooler. Can't wait!

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 09/07/2018 11:12

Well cloudy cloudy cloudy here today.

See what you witches have done. Wink

Outfoxed · 09/07/2018 11:13

I’m fine with the heat but I need it to rain soon! Where I live in Sweden we have had one small rainfall since mid May, and I’m worried the well is going to run dry (not on mains water).

QueenOfIce · 09/07/2018 11:32

Can we have a few days of rain then go into a lovely cool crisp Autumn please!

RedPony1 · 09/07/2018 11:34

YANBU

It's horrific, the grass is crispy and browny/yellow. Everything looks rank, leaves are falling and it's just shockingly crap!!

We desperately need rain to revive the fields. My rain dance hasn't worked so far though.

I'm sick of sweating our of every place possible, i want to run and i can't unless i get up at 4am everyday, the ponies hate it and i haven't been competing them because i cannot bare to put all my competition clothes on!!

Yuck yuck yuck

ILoveMyDressingGown · 09/07/2018 14:15

It's just started raining here, hooray!!! The grass will be up to our armpits by the weekend now ShockGrin

Lookingforadvice123 · 09/07/2018 14:23

YANBU, but only because I’m pregnant. 7 weeks and the heat just makes the all day nausea and tiredness 10 x worse. I literally haven’t left the house since I got home from work on Thursday evening. I thought it would be awful being in the 3rd tri in this weather - I was wrong, 1st tri is much worse.

I don’t want it to rain, just cool down to a comfortable 21, 22 degrees. Sunny but not too hot, with a nice breeze. Perfection.

Giggage · 09/07/2018 14:26

I've got it!

We need to collectively provoke Sods Law.

Put away all winter clothes and coats in the loft.
Hang out washing
Wash the car
Wash the windows
Start cutting the grass
Buy summer clothes
Plan a picnic
Sing

All have been proven before to bring on the onset of rain and cooler temperatures.

Think of it as a much more practical rain dance.
