To have had enough of this weather!

I know I know. We should enjoy it but oh my god, I am so uncomfortable.

I've hardly slept for that past 3 nights. I feel irritable and headachey.
My living room is currently a toasty 29 degrees and that's with a huge fan and all of the windows open.

Please tell me I'm not alone with not loving a hot UK!
And before anyone says about all of the snow we had, I would much rather have that. Much easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

I feel like I'm the scrooge of summer!

It is lovely if you don't have anything to do or anywhere you need to be.

The houework has been a bit abandoned because no way am I hoovering the stairs etc in this heat.

jaychops · 08/07/2018 20:35

I bloody hate it and feel like shit. 20 weeks pregnant and we've had the heatwave since about 8 weeks pregnant. Completely fed up!

YoYotheclown · 08/07/2018 20:36

I was supposed to book a last minute holiday for the family. I could have gone for the south of France. I opted for Scotland Grin
kids were not happy .
But I can’t wait.
Hate hate hate this heat.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 08/07/2018 20:36

I normally love the heat but for some reason I'm a sweaty mess in this, it's horrible! I've a layer of sweat all over and don't usually sweat much!

mangocoveredlamb · 08/07/2018 20:36

I am so over it!
My children will not sleep. Everything is sticky with sun cream. I wouldn’t go on a holiday this long. I long for the ability to wear a cardigan and I miss my jeans.
Plus going to work is such a pain, what to wear that is cool enough but not too casual!

Processedpea · 08/07/2018 20:36

It's ok school holidays are nearly here do if will rain then until they go back

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 20:36

No breeze Shock

Air conditioning is way forward. I don't mind being outside in it etc
I just desperately want a break from it.

Reminiscing of holidays abroad. Dipping in and out of the pool, cool tiled floors, icy air conditioning.

YouTheCat · 08/07/2018 20:36

Even my elbows are sweating.

I've just done a Forest Yoga class.

I don't remember 1976 being this hot!

Strax · 08/07/2018 20:37

Oh god it's hideous, today has been the worst. We don't have any rain forecast here during the next 2 weeks which would make it 7 weeks without rain I think. Everything is dry and dusty and parched. I miss grass. Lush, green grass not tinder-dry brown hay.
One more day of intense heat then it should be down to a manageable 24/25ish for a few days.

Mousefunky · 08/07/2018 20:37

YANBU. I’m 5 months pregnant and struggling like hell with it. I feel permanently agitated and sticky, it’s truly shit. It’s also making my DC extremely irritable too. Praying for some rain.

WaitrosePigeon · 08/07/2018 20:38

Those who love it, what about night time?

sakura06 · 08/07/2018 20:38

YANBU. I'm fed up now. Can't go anywhere or do anything outside really (too hot in the south east). The beach is sadly too far. The garden is dying. I'd really love some rain!

Cornettoninja · 08/07/2018 20:39

Bab

Grin I’m a brummie girl too so that made me smile (exiled to the south - sadly not south enough to be permanently by the sea)

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 20:41

I bought a new paddling pool and left my sunroof open last night.
In previous years just these things have had the desired outcome of rain. No such luck for 2018!

Also my hayfever is horrific.

piglet81 · 08/07/2018 20:41

I've had enough of it! Toooooo sticky. Small child is extra fractious too. Wish it would rain!

Hooli · 08/07/2018 20:41

Two weeks ago, me to DH

"Isn't the sunshine great, you can get outside with the kids, it makes such a difference"

Today

"Fuck this, let's just all sit in the living room watching Toy Story with the ineffective fans pointed at us"

We've enjoyed it, but everyone is starting to get hot and snappy now. Just a bit of night rain would be enough for me!

Cantsleeptooloud · 08/07/2018 20:41
  1. I miss the lack of variety with the weather. Every day is the same.
  1. I can't sleep at night.
  1. I was so excited in spring. All the garden was green and bursting into life. Now everywhere is yellow and brown.
  1. The heat has zapped my energy.
  1. I miss my jeans.
Ohmeohmy1234 · 08/07/2018 20:42

This weather is amazing if you don’t work and can spend your days relaxing, staying cool and going to the beach/pool for a dip to cool off. And you can sleep in in the mornings, when it’s at its coolest.

However, if you have to trek to work either walking or on boiling public transport, be a sweaty mess before you even get there, sit in a boiling office all day and then trek home again, and attempt to get a decent nights sleep before having to get up early and do the whole thing again, then it’s absolutely fucking horrendous.

Cantsleeptooloud · 08/07/2018 20:43

Hooli
Yes! We spent today in the car because of the air conditioning.

Thornyrose7 · 08/07/2018 20:45

YANBU I hate it! I have stopped caring about showing my middle aged white legs because there is no choice! But I am walking around feeling sweaty and miserable. Bring on the rain

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 20:46

**I’m a brummie girl too so that made me smile (exiled to the south - sadly not south enough to be permanently by the sea)

Got to love a well placed Bab. I like it more when I use it somewhere unfamiliar with the term.

I work in a kitchen, we have to put jackets and hats on over our clothes. So I'm wearing two layers in this heat. Might as well stick on a jumper.
We are not allowed fans (apparently this cools the food!! It's 29 degrees chef. It's really not going to cool the food!)
So done with being hot.

ClosdesMouches · 08/07/2018 20:49

YANBU. I'm in NW England and it's been like this for weeks. The whole of May was pretty much warm and dry.

Many of us here can't remember when it last rained which is unheard of !
We need rain here.
I can't sleep, I can't stand trying to cook anything.

Rain at night and air conditioning in the house and I'd probably enjoy it more.

Faerie87 · 08/07/2018 20:49

I had my little girl in June and everyone told me, it would be wonderful to have a summer baby because you can get out the house and go for lovely walks.

The problem with that is pushing a pram in this heat it absolute torture!
Poor baby is extremely hot as well when we are out and I worry that she will overheat.
As a PP has said everything is sweaty!

I’ve spent a lot of my time in my front room (north facing thank god!) with the windows open and a fan on, and watching Netflix. Not how I envisioned my MAT leave.

I also worry about night time. We had it drummed into us that baby can’t overheat so I’ve had my LO in a vest and nappy only for the last two weeks!

There is also the question of insects and spiders! We have had our upstairs windows open all the time and the amount of bugs and spiders in the house has been ridiculous! I even had a mini melt down during her two am feed as we had a spider the size of baseball in our bedroom right near her Moses basket!

I am praying for rain, even if it was clear but was between 15-20 degrees that would be bare-able!

I feel like Peter Kay will tell me to have a Selero and shut the F&@k up! Lol x

fleshmarketclose · 08/07/2018 20:50

@Yoyotheclown we got back from a holiday in Scotland on Friday. I was looking forward to it being cool and some rain but it turned out to be hotter than home (Midlands) all week and not a drop of rain or even a cloud in the sky. What's worse is we arrived at the holiday cottage and had to turn all the heaters off as they had been left on regardless of it being 28 degrees outside.
