To have had enough of this weather!

I know I know. We should enjoy it but oh my god, I am so uncomfortable.

I've hardly slept for that past 3 nights. I feel irritable and headachey.
My living room is currently a toasty 29 degrees and that's with a huge fan and all of the windows open.

Please tell me I'm not alone with not loving a hot UK!
And before anyone says about all of the snow we had, I would much rather have that. Much easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

I feel like I'm the scrooge of summer!

I normally love this kind of weather but everytime I step outside now I get a headache. Doesn't help that my fringe is plastered to my forehead in sweat Hmm
Just 1 but of rain please.

TeeniefaeTroon · 08/07/2018 22:15

We had a wee bit rain today and the temperature has dropped to about 18, thank goodness! I'm in the north east of Scotland.

FreeofPills · 08/07/2018 22:16

". It's summer! What do you expect"

Did you ever watch Downton Abbey?

Rosamund- there's nothing like an English summer, is there?

Mary - except an English winter

Grin

That's what I expect. It's very rare to have hot weather for such a prolonged period, the train tracks aren't even able to manage a couple of days.

QueenOfIce · 08/07/2018 22:16

Turn your fans around so it's facing out of an open window it'll cool you down better. I also put a hot water bottle in the freezer then stick it at the bottom of my bed.

SheldonandPenny · 08/07/2018 22:23

Ugh just feel ugh...Is anyone swollen everywhere? I'm not pg either...bit if rain please. I never moan about rain or a bit if cold...

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 22:23

It's awful tonight isn't it?
Really stuffy with no air
My dc are still awake as they're too warm

I actually feel unwell without wanting to come across as a drama queen.

I’ve been putting bowls of water (with largish stones for them to stand on) out for the birds.

Glumglowworm · 08/07/2018 22:26

YANBU

my flat is ground floor and only has the sun in the morning so isn’t too bad thankfully

But as soon as I have to do anything or go anywhere it’s just miserable! Sweaty walk to the train station, sweaty train to work, sweaty office all day, sweaty train again, sweaty walk (uphill!) home. It’s felt relentless the last few weeks even though we had one day of rain last week it was still very warm.

I’m not sleeping at night even in my relatively not-hot flat, I’m very fat which I know is my own fault but it really makes me struggle in the heat.

RainbowGlitterFairy · 08/07/2018 22:30

I don't cope even with normal summer weather, I hate it, I burn ridiculously easily and am a really sweaty person, hot weather makes me grouchy. On the other hand, everybody now sees how uncomfortable I feel every year so you know, that's a small consolation.

dementedma · 08/07/2018 22:31

love it. I live in Scotland and we so rarely get a decent summer that it can stay as long as it likes. the winters last most of the year so a few weeks of sunshine is more than welcome.

agentdaisy · 08/07/2018 22:31

I absolutely hate this weather, its far too hot. I can't drive so have to walk everywhere and it's horrible. I'm sick of being hot and sweaty doing anything more, strenuous than sitting in front of a fan. The only good thing is that I've finally got to the bottom of the laundry pile - but it's too hot to do the ironing so I have a mountain of that instead.

The house is like a hothouse despite keeping windows and curtains shut all day and opening them at night.

I'm not sleeping, the kids aren't sleeping, we're all hot, sweaty, tired and grumpy. The kids are bored but no one has the energy or inclination to do anything and end up even more hot and sweaty.

Ds is sensitive to the heat and despite drinking copious amounts of cold drinks and staying inside or in the shade as much as possible is suffering with heat exhaustion again. Dd and I are suffering with migraines brought on by the heat and humidity. My hayfever is the worst its ever been and ds is getting bitten to bits every time he steps foot outside.

Give me a lovely frosty crisp day over this oppressive heat any day. I love frosty mornings and cold winter sun.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 08/07/2018 22:31

Yanbu. I'm so fed up of the heat. I went out of the back door just now and it's no cooler than the inside of the house. It's just so still and humid and muggy. I had barely any sleep last night because I just couldn't get comfy. I had nothing on and the fan we blowing with a cold, damp towel in front of it but it made no difference! At least when it's cold you can put more layers on.

liz70 · 08/07/2018 22:32

It's lovely here (Comillas on the north coast of Spain). Highs of no more than 23-24°C, with a sea breeze and light cloud, and the odd shower in the evening to keep the air fresh. Everything is green and lush. Soft sand and clear, not too salty, water at the local beach. Gorgeous.Smile

ginghamstarfish · 08/07/2018 22:35

Yes, I hate hot weather and this is particularly horrible. Really gets me down. One thing we have found helps is window screens (DIY kit jobs) so you can leave them wide open but stop bugs getting in. Also put solar film on bedroom windows today, so hopefully that will help as we get sun on there from midday to sunset, and bedrooms are under the eaves making it even hotter.

careerontrack · 08/07/2018 22:35

I’m loving every single second of it. I was totally made for this weather.

AnyFucker · 08/07/2018 22:36

Feck off liz Grin

Meatbadger · 08/07/2018 22:38

YANBU. DD2 and I have had the sick bug all weekend. Thought I wasn’t going to make it. Enough now thank you!

flamingofridays · 08/07/2018 22:40

I usually love this weather however we don't have a proper garden so can't wait outside in it my usually drafty Victorian terrace has turned in to an actual oven and I'm stuck in an office 5/7 days a week.

It's great when you're on holiday and can dip in a pool but when you haven't even got a bloody inflatable pool it's miserable.

Hoping I'm not in the same situation next year. Roll on Autumn. (Never ever thought I'd say that)

liz70 · 08/07/2018 22:43

Sorry. Grin

I saw this recent weather map (we're about 30 miles west of Santander, on the coast), and thought, thank fuck we chose to holiday here out of anywhere else in Spain, as the rest looks yuck!

To have had enough of this weather!
FreeofPills · 08/07/2018 22:43

Debating third ice lolly of the day.

I know they're full of sugar but.....

BiologyIsReal · 08/07/2018 22:44

I find it's the humidity that saps you and makes sweat pour out of every pore (so to speak). 35% dry heat is much more comfortable than 30% with high humidity.

1MorePiece · 08/07/2018 22:48

Oh and the flies and moths that get in from having windows and doors open!

RadioDorothy · 08/07/2018 22:54

I love the sun and the warmth, but admit the humidity is getting to me tonight. Can't seem to get a decent breeze through the bedroom despite all upstairs windows being open, it's so stuffy I feel like I'm laying on an electric blanket. I'm spraying myself with water but it'snot working.

I also had one of my worst migraines in over a year on Friday, diabolically shit it was. Sweating in a caravan bathroom, shitting my arse off on a chemical toilet with my head in the basin. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, DH started cooking an omelette on the bloody gas cooker.

My stomach is still off, I blame the heat.

ShutUpBaz · 08/07/2018 23:02

I am built for winter. I love cold, snow, rain and early darkness.

As a chef I am constantly hot, add the walking school runs to that and I am a hot, melty mess most of the time. I'm confused, disorientated and lethargic in the mornings through lack of sleep. I piss like a racehorse because I drink CONSTANTLY to try and keep cool.

Roll on winter.

Bluelady · 08/07/2018 23:02

It's glorious and going to continue for the foreseeable future. I'm so happy we're getting a proper summer this year.
