I know I know. We should enjoy it but oh my god, I am so uncomfortable.

I've hardly slept for that past 3 nights. I feel irritable and headachey.
My living room is currently a toasty 29 degrees and that's with a huge fan and all of the windows open.

Please tell me I'm not alone with not loving a hot UK!
And before anyone says about all of the snow we had, I would much rather have that. Much easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

I feel like I'm the scrooge of summer!

I hate it. My hayfever is so bad that I feel as if I have a permanent cold. I've had a headache since Friday and I lose my appetite in this heat. I got just two hours sleep last night until I was woken by some idiot drunkenly singing loudly at 4am.

I much prefer cold weather over this.

Schroedingerscatagain · 08/07/2018 23:03

Like others, I’m late peri menopause and I’ve got a bloody temperature too as I often get hidden infections thanks to a faulty immune system

Our house is over insulated, 33 degrees in the bedrooms and I can’t have the damn windows open due to an anaphylactic allergy to wasps

I’m terrified that they’re going to cut crops early and create a perfect storm of heat, allergens and my asthma which could quite possibly kill me

Beloved husband and has so far bought me a dyson hepa fan to clean the air and now ordered an air con unit to arrive tomorrow

He’s a keeper Grin

AnyFucker · 08/07/2018 23:09

The weather forecast here is for 23 deg and a brief rain shower

Rain. FUCKING RAIN

And 10deg cooler

Hallelujah

seventhgonickname · 08/07/2018 23:11

I am enjoying the weather when I'm not working. We have our house sorted with Windows open one side and closed with curtains drawn on the sunny side then all windows open at night upstairs to get a through draft.
Being almost meno PayPal though I now know why my grab and mother didn't like hot days. The nicest thing about a long run is that there is less pressure to be outside all the time making the most if it.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 23:12

Where is this anyfucker?

This weather has reinforced my belief that I was accidentally born in the UK. I should be living in Californian, southern Italy or the north of Australia.
I'm rubbish in anything under 20°.
I can sleep and potter about outside in this heat with no trouble.

Nofilter · 08/07/2018 23:18

I'm fed up with it too. Everything feels like hard work. Mucking out the horses in this heat is grim, the flies - can't even ride it would be cruel to her.

Then there is running around after a 2 year old and don't get me started on sunscreen application and keeping that damn hat on her head!!

Ollivander84 · 08/07/2018 23:23

Can we just have it a tiny bit less warm in the day, so sunny and gentle breezy and then nicely cool at night? That would do

malfoyy · 08/07/2018 23:27

OP I'm in Worcestershire too- look at Wednesday- I'm counting on this being fact!

To have had enough of this weather!
biscuiteater · 08/07/2018 23:29

I like it but this weekend has felt hotter due to it being more humid, still it's okay in the shade and indoors. It's going to get colder though, Tuesday high of 19c so that will feel chilly. Rain at night would be good, just hope it doesn't turn cold and wet for days on end for the school holidays.

gluteustothemaximus · 08/07/2018 23:30

It's hard. Bedroom is 31 degrees with fans on and the window open.

Also, there is a toddler. Who is hot and sweaty and teething and wants cuddles.

I do love the weather, but bit cooler please, 22 is fine thank you, with a nice cool breeze. That would be great, thanks Smile

TattyTshirt · 08/07/2018 23:31

We decided we wouldn't go on holiday this year. "We'll stay home and spend the money on redecorating the whole house" .....

That hasn't happened... I can't dust the table without breaking into a sweat....and don't mention cooking! Has anyone had anything remotely like a family meal for the past few weeks? I can just about plonk some salad on a plate.

I'm not loving this weather. Back to work tomorrow.. What a complete waste of time off. I've done precisely nothing except got up early to walk the dog before the sun comes up, so not even had a lie in after being awake, sweating all night :(

Bring on Autumn. My favourite season. Please arrive soon..... Please Autumn

gluteustothemaximus · 08/07/2018 23:35

The upside is, as we can't afford a holiday here or abroad, this is the heat we would get if we were abroad. Light Summer evenings have been heaven in the garden, when it's cooler too.

LittleBirdBlues · 08/07/2018 23:45

I'm 38 weeks pregnant, still working, and have two DCs aged 4 and 2 to look after. I'm struggling!

The lack of rain is the worst though. Our allotment needs to be watered almost daily which just adds to te long list of responsibilities an dfeela pretty exhausting right now.

Still, I'd rather have this over the wash out that was the summer of 2017.

CookPassBabtridge · 08/07/2018 23:48

I feel so grouchy and agitated all the time. Is this why crime/violence and murder is so prevalent in hot countries? Grin I hate sweating and feeling like I'm burning from the inside out.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 23:49

Malfoyy 14 degrees... sounds heavenly.
We can hope.
My living room is still showing 29 degrees and upstairs is even hotter.

Weather forecast for early hours 3am are 74% humidity! It's only 50% now and I am melting!

OP posts:
EdWinchester · 08/07/2018 23:51

Meh. We have only just got home after 3 weeks away.

We are loving it! Sitting outside all evening - normally I am too cold. Every window in the house wide open - lovely!

Our lawn looks atrocious, mind you.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 08/07/2018 23:51

And with regards to cooking. Nope.

It's been pretty hit and miss.
If it wasn't for the fact I need to parent. I would be serving shredded wheat every evening.
Instead it's shredded wheat with cucumber and lettuce WinkGrin

ChasedByBees · 08/07/2018 23:57

I hate it. It’s just causing headaches and uncomfortableness in this house. We can’t get out and enjoy it.

PinkAvocado · 08/07/2018 23:58

Teaching in British classrooms with ‘safety’ windows that open barely an inch is horrible. Especially when one wall is made entirely from windows so effectively turning the room into a greenhouse.
Trying to keep a baby and toddler cool and entertained is stressful and worrying.
The environmental impact is not great.
Yeah I would like some rain now too.

IChooseTheHat · 08/07/2018 23:58

This is the best summer I can remember us having. As much as I’m getting uncomfortable at times I can’t bring myself to moan about it, The sun might not come back if we do

PinkAvocado · 09/07/2018 00:00

I’d like it an awful lot more if I worked somewhere with aircon and could keep the house cool overnight!
