To ask if you think it is controversial to say that a person with male genitalia should not be allowed to use changing rooms used by people with vaginas?

www.theargus.co.uk/news/16334391.trans-women-are-still-males-with-male-genitalia/

The Argus (Brighton newspaper) says that it is controversial for someone to say this:

"many trans women are still males with male genitalia, many are sexually attracted to females, and they should not be in places where females undress or sleep in a completely unrestricted way.”

The definition of controversial is likely to give rise to a public disagreement.

Do you think it is likely that most people would disagree with the statement that people with penises should not use the changing rooms which people with vaginas are using?

Not for women that cant use mixed sex spaces it doesn't.

The actual answer is a third unisex space.

UpstartCrow · 06/07/2018 10:05

Sorry, the thread moved on.

I'm seriously fed up with people who are completely blind to the groups of women who cannot used mixesd sex spaces.
If people don't know they exist we'll keep listing them; if they dont care then why don't they just say 'I don't care how this affects women' and then we all know where we stand.

Mousefunky · 06/07/2018 10:06

So should lesbians or bisexual women also be banned because they find women attractive? So stupid.

Ghanagirl · 06/07/2018 10:07

@SuitedandBooted
The link you posted very informative and terrifying

Do lesbians and bisexual women have a huge pattern of assaulting women?

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 06/07/2018 10:10

Your post was indeed so stupid, mouse

Moonkissedlegs · 06/07/2018 10:11

I really don't understand what is then problem with campaigning for third spaces?

Well actually I do. It's about validation of 'womanhood'.

LyndseyKola · 06/07/2018 10:12

Not getting embroiled in the thread as it’s a carbon copy of hundreds before it, but:

If you’re a trans woman reading this thread:

I’m cisgender. I accept you as a woman, you have my support. I welcome you wholeheartedly into any female spaces I frequent.

Trans women are women. Being a woman doesn’t relate to your sex at birth or your genitalia.

Have some solidarity from me ☺️

Are you spectacularly missing the point on purpose or can you genuinely not see reasons why this "law" is set to put all women in danger of male sexual predators??

PennyPickle · 06/07/2018 10:21

I’m cisgender. I accept you as a woman, you have my support. I welcome you wholeheartedly into any female spaces I frequent.

Would that be transwomen who have a vagina or all blokes who have a penis and will have free use of women's safe spaces because today they will say they identify as a woman to gain free access to commit sex crimes against women - and there's fuck all women can do about it?

UnderHerEye · 06/07/2018 10:26

@PennyPickle

I welcome you wholeheartedly into any female spaces I frequent

And the women who don’t wish to share their female spaces with male bodied persons? What about their boundaries? What about their rights to sex segregated spaces?

Incidentally it is still the law that we can discriminate by sex where appropriate and it is still lawful to ask male bodied persons to leave sex segrated spaces (in the UK) so welcoming one and all into female spaces where you frequent is breaking the law.

Aeroflotgirl · 06/07/2018 10:27

If they want to make changing areas for both sexes, they need to have lockable cubicals, and lockable showers that are not see through. I agree op, biological men should not be allowed in women's spaces and give versa.

scaryteacher · 06/07/2018 10:28

^ penny. Why can't women see this?

UnderHerEye · 06/07/2018 10:29

Sorry I tagged you by mistake!

Will try again:

I agree penny

Fed up of the virtue signaling and thats the first time ive used the phrase

Ive said eleventy billion times that its just the piss takers i have a problem with

But you still get the 'i know im a lone voice' type bull shit

Everyone on here hates trans people except for meeeeee

Pratchet · 06/07/2018 10:30

You don't know what a woman is though @lindsaykola so I'm not surprised you won't get 'embroiled'. Too hard to justify. Plus if you want to change with male-bodied people, go ahead. MY boundaries are not in your gift.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/07/2018 10:36

The UN understands why women and girls need separate facilities. www.un.org/en/women/endviolence/orangedaymay2016.shtml In many poorer countries, women and girls die or suffer dreadful violence because they don't have access to safe, private facilities for their hygiene needs. And here we are, blithely waving away our hard-won rights to just such spaces. It was one of the things that made it possible for women and girls to get out of the home and take part in public life, a century ago.

sabinaapplecross · 06/07/2018 10:37

The fact that all of a sudden non-transitioned and no intention of transitioning Self-IDs are shouting insistently about wanting access to womens' spaces should be ringing alarm bells like mad

PinkCrystal · 06/07/2018 10:41

Individual changing rooms are the way to go with wall to floor coverage.
Swimming for example should have family or unisex change as an option.
Lots of places have gender neutral toilets and cubicles now. My kids school have always had mixed toilets. It's never been a problem

Moonkissedlegs · 06/07/2018 10:44

And tough shit for the women who are uncomfortable with sharing their spaces with male bodied people. Their boundaries don't matter.

Nice.

UpstartCrow · 06/07/2018 10:44

It's never been a problem for you, but if you;d bothered to listen to other women its certainly a problem for them.
Cubicles in a mixed space can leave you trapped in a cubicle with a predator outside waiting for you.

And schools have a legal duty to provide single sex toilets for children over the age of 8. Girls want privacy when they are dealing with periods, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Ereshkigal · 06/07/2018 10:50

This. These people don't realise how misogynistic they are. They have no interest in the feelings of women about anything. They centre those of biological males by default.

Ereshkigal · 06/07/2018 10:52

That's not a good point. It ignores the need for privacy, and the fact that many women cannot use shared spaces. Mixed sex spaces exclude women including abuse survivors, those in abusive/controlling relationships, and those from strict religious backgrounds.

This.

busyboysmum · 06/07/2018 10:55

Nobody I know in RL thinks it’s the least bit controversial that penises shouldn’t be in women’s changing room, it's common sense surely?

Where are all these people who think it’s a good idea?I haven't spoken to one person in real life who thinks this.

I think the problem is that the media serms saturated with the kind of people who think you can change sex. Whereas no-one I know in real life thinks this.
