To be sick of this 'it's coming home' nonsense

It's not coming home. Who ever said England is home? It makes us look idiotic to the rest of the world. Someone on the radio said they really believe England is going to win this year. The rest of the world must be pissing themselves looking at England cheering over such a mediocre team and having such delusions of grandeur.

It also seems to make people behave like hooligans. I've seen some crazy driving before the matches start, and people were making noise until the early hours last night.

It's just a game! We never get this excited about the olympics, Wimbledon or even Rugby.

Studs up, knee high. Exactly. And then his action was compounded by his angry rant in the direction of the fallen player. Hmmm

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:25

Was it not the England goalie who went in studs up, knee high?
Shoulda been a red card

Should have been a yellow

RoseWhiteTips · 11/07/2018 22:27

Oh go off and lick your wounds, why don’t you...🙄

southeastdweller · 11/07/2018 22:27

It really pisses me off when numpties on here rush to point out on AIBU that the OP is goading - how on earth can you tell that without mind-reading? Confused

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:28

Oh go off and lick your wounds, why don’t you..

I don’t have any. You’re making yourself look really silly (as per usual!)

And alcohol, yet it's a tax on tampons which is used to pay for DV services. Time for an extra tax on strong alcohol to pay towards DV services. It's insane that menstruating women are charged a tax to pay for DV services.

THIS

HollyGibney · 11/07/2018 22:29

You're ridiculously contrary on every thread you're on RWT. I just can't take you seriously I am afraid, I don't actually think anyone does.

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:29

I’m looking forward to the 3rd place play off and a chance to play Belgium again with more matches behind us.

I suspect Trippier will be out which is a concern for me as he’s been one of the revelations I think.

everythingsgoingtobealright · 11/07/2018 22:31

Should have been a yellow

I believe it to be a straight legged studs up challenge to an opponents knee and therefore endangering an opponent which deserves a red.

I guarantee if it was the Croatian goalkeeper everyone would be screaming for a red. *

I love this team. There's something so steadfast about them with GS at the helm, though they were rather frayed in the second half. I don't really follow football in between the big tournaments so don't know as much as you do jacques but I will be watching on Saturday and willing them on as much as I have all their matches.

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:33

Not at all. Some of us actually enjoy watching the game and can do so without being blinkered.

I think the refereeing team was pretty poor tonight in general. Missed free kicks for both sides, a good 4 occasions I counted where they missed corners.

It was the most error strewn officiating I’ve seen in the tournament so far.

RoseWhiteTips · 11/07/2018 22:35

As I said, some of you are very poor losers. Words don’t hurt; losing a football match clearly does.

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:37

Not at all. I’m disappointed but England didn’t deserve to win tonight. Too many missed chances. They weren’t ruthless enough in the first half.

That said, imagine being the kind of person who tries to get their kicks trying (and failing) to be deliberately goady on a forum 😭😂😭

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:39

If the WC has ignited your passion for sport, there’s RL internationals in the autumn, well worth a look if you haven’t tried the sport before.

AfterSchoolWorry · 11/07/2018 22:41

It's no coming home 😊

To be sick of this 'it's coming home' nonsense
HollyGibney · 11/07/2018 22:43

I always get interested round the big tournaments and vow that I will keep it up, but never do. Dd was watching with me tonight though and I asked if she'd like to follow a team. We are In London with QPR, Fulham and Chelsea pretty much equidistant; I actually walked my dog in the park next to Craven Cottage this morning, so we'd need to choose one.

JacquesHammer · 11/07/2018 22:45

World Cup 2019. Could be coming home Grin

everythingsgoingtobealright · 11/07/2018 22:46

JacquesHammer

That's fair enough, I just wish more people had a more open minded approach to analysing the game instead of being bias towards their team.

I think the ref at the England v Tunisia game was worse, England should have had at least 2 stone wall penalties.

I missed fair chunks of that match so you could well be right!

AlecTrevelyan006 · 11/07/2018 22:58

It was fun while it lasted

Regingaphalange · 12/07/2018 00:06

There's notching in the world more attractive than taking cheap pleasure in other's disappointment is there

wakemeupbefore · 12/07/2018 06:50

As a wise old chap allegedly said couple a millenia ago: 'Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall' [nods sagely]
English tabloid coverage was, as expected, very arrogant and dismissive of other nations, well, the world is not sheding many tears now...

likeacrow · 12/07/2018 07:13

When I hear words like "heartbreak" and "anguish" related to a team losing a football match (on radio 4 news just now) I just think Jesus Christ, get a grip!!

GameOfMinges · 12/07/2018 08:34

I wonder if Rose has any qualifications in football officiation...

Anyway, great tournament and great time. Personally I think the 'heartbreak' stuff is more the press than anything else. Everyone I know is happy with how well the team did, wasn't actually expecting a win, would've taken a losing semi finalist spot at the start of the tournament and has thoroughly enjoyed the ride. But then I steer clear of the rags.
