Yes, I do understand that people are excited about the football, but it’s Tuesday night and my DC, who is completely exhausted, has to get up early for school - the rather scary shouting has just woken her up. Yep, I know someone will say I should move to the middle of nowhere. I would love to - as many people would - but sadly that’s not possible.

YABU...

MichiganSparkles · 03/07/2018 22:20

@Wheretheresawill1 please do call environmental health it'll give them such a good laugh!!

onefootinthegrave · 03/07/2018 22:20

Yes YABU as is the PP who suggested that anyone shouting in excitement is a football hooligan.

Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough Grin Grin Grin

CakeNinja · 03/07/2018 22:20

I can’t get worked up about it even though I hate football.
Cars beep horns, motorbikes screech down the road, neighbours have late bbqs etc,
Plenty of noise here.
Sorry your dc is struggling to sleep through it though, it’s a total pain in the arse if they are woken by something beyond your control, I get that.

Plus, as a slight tangent, we had an email at work a couple of weeks ago detailing the risks of and the statistics indicating the rise of domestic violence during the World Cup.
I was really shocked as I hadn’t ever thought about that side of it before although it makes sense now I know.
I kept harping on to dp about it because I was so surprised.

bastardkitty · 03/07/2018 22:21

Log it with the police on 101

Bayleaf25 · 03/07/2018 22:21

Yup YABU. It is only once every 4 years and some of us love it x

campion · 03/07/2018 22:21

Cantsleep You are a v unreasonable parent. Your DC should've been in front of the telly (are you sure he/she wasn't lying on the bedroom floor listening like I used to ). Watching England suffer is character formingGrin

ilovesooty · 03/07/2018 22:21

FFS. It's the first penalty shoot out England have ever won. The team on the whole have conducted themselves with dignity and are managed by a bloke who seems a decent bloke.
If people can't be happy tonight they must be totally joyless.

Tutlefru · 03/07/2018 22:23

YABU.

Pompom42 · 03/07/2018 22:23

YABU

Be proud of your country, be proud of the football, it's coming home. The noise is going to get much LOUDER

NambiBambi · 03/07/2018 22:23

Yes, I'm sure it's all very annoying but I find, "Jesus wept," as an exclamation of frustration/outrage even more annoying.

TwitterQueen1 · 03/07/2018 22:23

oh FFS NoNo of course it's not caused by football. Exercise a few brain cells will you? For those who commit violence, a loss exacerbates it, or to put in words that perhaps you can understand, when we lose, partners who are violent hit their partners more.

KS34 · 03/07/2018 22:24

I watched it in Germany. I cheered very loudly for England, everyone else around me cheered for Columbia. God it was good!

TomHardyswife · 03/07/2018 22:24

OMG, OP lighten up! We won! We never win penalty shoot outs!!!

notgivingin789 · 03/07/2018 22:24

Wait..are some of you lot saying England is in the lead ?!!

Yes England ! You go ! WOOP WOOP.

PeakPants · 03/07/2018 22:25

Let them enjoy it until they inevitably get kicked out on Saturday... But yeah, it is annoying af. Where I am, it sounds like some idiot is letting off fireworks now.

x2boys · 03/07/2018 22:25

Ffs England are through to the quarter finals ,this rarely happens and never on penalties get over yourself Hmm

HairDyedPink · 03/07/2018 22:25

YANBU

They haven't won anything, they just haven't been knocked out yet. Big whoop. If that's the best people can get excited about.

Littleredboat · 03/07/2018 22:25

Why is your DC so “completely exhausted” on a Tuesday night?

To be honest if your kids can’t cope with very occasional disturbance at 10pm you might want to look at what you’re up to all the other nights.

What a miserable thread. And I’m not even a massive football fan!

ReanimatedSGB · 03/07/2018 22:26

There is quite a lot of evidence that domestic violence increases during major sporting events.
Though the sooner the English team lose this one, the better. Not only is it really fucking boring, but English footballers kicking more balls than other footballers or whatever is likely to encourage the worst sort of morons to dial up their racism and xenophobia.

Slartybartfast · 03/07/2018 22:26

Penalty shoot outs are such a disappointing way to end the game, however we WON

Bayleaf25 · 03/07/2018 22:26

And I’m not sure it’s entirely fair to blame domestic violence on the World Cup - I’m sure that the type of people capable of that type of behaviour would find something to make them snap, football or no football.

Nothisispatrick · 03/07/2018 22:26

Environmental health...😂😂😂

Come on, it's one night, your DC won't spontaneously combust.

JustLurkingAway · 03/07/2018 22:27

But....it's coming homeWink

NoNotheresnolyrics · 03/07/2018 22:27

TwitterQueen1 no need to be a meany. I think there are other factors at play such as excessive alcohol consumption for example?
