Yes, I do understand that people are excited about the football, but it’s Tuesday night and my DC, who is completely exhausted, has to get up early for school - the rather scary shouting has just woken her up. Yep, I know someone will say I should move to the middle of nowhere. I would love to - as many people would - but sadly that’s not possible.

Yes YABU.

It's once every 4 years. The world doesn't revolve around your children. And yes I have a 5 year old DS and I live in flats above busy takeaways, couldn't get much more noisy here.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 03/07/2018 22:43

Oh @fiery, I hope that was a watering can and not a hose Wink! Though I hear we’re getting actual rain tomorrow (woo)! I might cheer a la football fan when it happens...

Wonkypalmtree · 03/07/2018 22:43

Cancel the cheque

I am fortunate enough not to be in a position where I am subjected to DV.

In this all female household we have had a tense, nervous, loud, very enjoyable evening yelling at the tv and the players. I am very glad England won. I like to see England (or any other country) flags on display. I like to hear celebrations and happy people.

I am disappointed that Ch6 head honchos pushed back Love Island to accommodate ET and penalties so I still have to watch it Sad

flopsyrabbit1 · 03/07/2018 22:44

makes a change from people moaning about NDN mowing their grass at 2pm on a Sunday and how unreasonable it is as its waking the toddler having a nap

Notcontent · 03/07/2018 22:45

Boooommm - I live in a residential street, nowhere near a pub or a city centre! And I would suggest you read up about how noise and lack of sleep have a terrible effect on our physical health! Who knows, you might be hit by a car driven by a sleep deprived driver...

We have to realise at times some people's celebrations will cause disruption to us. That's life. Ours will no doubt do the same from time to time. Give and take and stop moaning about something others want to enjoy

ShatnersWig · 03/07/2018 22:45

Thank fuck Wimbledon is on so there is something else to watch on TV during the World Cup. Don't tend to get people getting pissed and behaving like tossers over the tennis.

HairDyedPink · 03/07/2018 22:45

Maybe it IS unadulterated good news for all mankind... or something.

It is! England wins mediocre rank in Word Cup. Other countries celebrate a real win, it seems we just know our place Grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/07/2018 22:45

Thank God the football was on so I didn’t have to put up with Love Island being available 😀

It’s coming home.......

NameChanger22 · 03/07/2018 22:46

I hate football. But it makes people happy, I'm fine with that.

However, I am worrying about the streets being lined with broken glass tomorrow, as this usually happens after big football matches. I don't want to get my bike tires fixed again because of the drunken louts. Have a good time, but consider other people too.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/07/2018 22:47

Have you ever been to Wimbledon Shatners.....

PeakPants · 03/07/2018 22:47

It’s just a bit cringe to me for some reason.

I mainly find it cringe because England has one of the world's shittiest teams (albeit they seem to have had a run of luck this time round), yet make out they're some sort of footballing superpower to rival France, Germany or Brazil. England has won once- and that was on penalties and on home turf. Other than that, they have never even been in the final and have only made one semi-final that they lost. I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face if I was German and some English person made out that the countries were on a par.

dontbesillyhenry · 03/07/2018 22:47

You really are dramatic op aren't you. It's not even 11pm

CourtneyLovely · 03/07/2018 22:48

Such a lot of Debbie Downers! Life is tedious. Life is work, sleep, work, sleep. Football is exciting for some of us and tonight we are very very happy. Let us have this, it doesn't happen very often...

Obviously people who watch tennis are better human beings haha 😆

UserX · 03/07/2018 22:48

Again: it's not 'the country being happy'. Some people are enjoying watching something on the telly: fine. But rather a lot of people are going to be disturbing their neighbours, annoying their workmates, brawling in the street and assaulting their partners. It's not 'unadulterated good news' - it's awful news for some people and a crashing bore for others.

It’s just an excuse for anti social behavior. I don’t think that anyone excusing it has any idea of what goes on. And I live in a naice neighborhood! The day that pub gets turned into luxury flats I’ll be doing a fucking victory lap.

PeakPants · 03/07/2018 22:48

I can hear the pub behind me now full of happy drunk people and it's a joyous sound

Yeah, like fuck it is...

dontbesillyhenry · 03/07/2018 22:48

People at Wimbledon get shitfaced on lanson and Pimms

JacquesHammer · 03/07/2018 22:49

Hah my friend who lives very close to the AEC tells quite another sorry during Wimbledon fortnight.

LonginesPrime · 03/07/2018 22:49

It’s ok though I will ring environmental health in the morning as I have evidence

What, you mean the score? Grin

Nailsshinelikejustice · 03/07/2018 22:49

What's the difference between blaming football for DV, racism and xenophobia and blaming revealing clothing for sexual assault?

You may try to make the world just that little bit more colourless for the rest of us. But you won't succeed! IT'S COMING HOME!!!!!!

UserX · 03/07/2018 22:49

Who knows, you might be hit by a car driven by a sleep deprived driver...

Or a drunk driver going home after the game.

QueenofmyPrinces · 03/07/2018 22:49

My husband woke up our 10 month old and 4 year old with his screams and shouts and excited swearing!!

I had to smile because everyone’s happiness is great!!! It’s uniting the country and I’m not a football fan at all but I totally understand why this is a really big deal for some people!!
