AIBU to want the 'midi' length trend to bugger off?

So many gorgeous dresses ruined by the fact that they stop mid-calf. I can't be arsed to wear towering heels to compensate. Wharever happened to good old fashioned 'just above the knee'?

YANBU, who wants a dress to end on the widest part of their leg? I don't think it's a flattering length on anyone. However I also think t shirts are unflattering for similar reasons, I am not stylish at all.

ILoveDolly · 26/06/2018 21:09

Sorry but I love midi

3DSpex · 26/06/2018 21:10

I love midi, I’m afraid. I cringe at just above the knee.

Brendatheblender · 26/06/2018 21:11

YABU. I love midi

CaffeineAndCrochet · 26/06/2018 21:12

Midi is great. I love being able to sit down and have my dress still cover my knees and thighs.

ILoveDolly · 26/06/2018 21:12

@3D I hate my knees they are so knobbly

MVLipwig · 26/06/2018 21:14

You’re being incredibly unreasonable! Finally something that the thick of thigh can wear chafing shorts underneath risk free!

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 26/06/2018 21:15

When I was in my teens and early 20s, mid-length skirts were the absolute height of frumpiness.

Singlenotsingle · 26/06/2018 21:17

It's partly an age thing. Above the knee is ok for teens and early 20's. Midi is fine otherwise, elegant and comfy. Personally, I'll stick to jeans!

Racecardriver · 26/06/2018 21:19

YABU. Just above the knee looks unjiversally ridiculous. Either a good 15 cm above the knees or bellow the knee. Just above the knee looks so so wrong.

KirstenRaymonde · 26/06/2018 21:19

Midi is miles better than ‘just above the knee’ and I’m 5”2 and the top end of a size 12. ‘A bit under the knee’ is my preference though. You can always take a dress up very easily.

MissMildred · 26/06/2018 21:21

In total agreement - YANBU. Unless you are waif thin they are IMHO, frumpy.

ElfridaEtAl · 26/06/2018 21:23

I prefer midi to just above the knee. Im nearly 6ft tall and 'just above the knee' usually ends up a mini on me and it's not flattering at all. Midis & maxis forever!

DitheringBlidiot · 26/06/2018 21:24

I love midi, who wants their wobbly knees out? To me just above the knee is an awful length.

wheezing · 26/06/2018 21:25

I love it as a petite size because I can buy midi and means I finally get a me size maxi dress!!

Amanduh · 26/06/2018 21:26

Yabvvvu! I think they’re great, especially if you’re tall and it means you can get something that actually covers your backside, good length to be able to play with kids etc, dressed up with heels or down with sandals, they’re bloody brilliant!! Just above the knee is tre worst!

rosesandflowers1 · 26/06/2018 21:26

Just above the knee looks awful IMO.

Midi dresses I'm not especially keen on but can look lovely depending.

Petalflowers · 26/06/2018 21:26

I love maxi s.

natwebb79 · 26/06/2018 21:30

Oh blimey, I must be being unreasonable! I love them with heels, I just look ridiculous wearing midi length with flats and have to walk a fair bit at work. I'm 5'4" and without heels they just make me look odd. Perhaps I should persevere.

mimibunz · 26/06/2018 21:32

I have unattractive calves so I love a midi.

ThatchersCold · 26/06/2018 21:32

I quite agree! My legs are definitely my best feature (I’m size 10 with 34” legs), yet midi dresses somehow make my legs look weird and dumpy. Short - fine, long - fine...midi....just no!

AynRandTheObjectivist · 26/06/2018 21:35

I can't find anything just below the knee...it's midi, maxi or just above the knee. I HATE just above the knee.

Fuckedoffat48b · 26/06/2018 21:36

Weezing same here. I have never been able to wear maxi dresses but can this summer!

AuntieStella · 26/06/2018 21:39

I love midis and have been waiting for over a decade to buy some new skirts. Probably more, come to think about it.

I wish that cuts/styles didn't vanish completely (I've seen a fair few threads about jeans)

AynRandTheObjectivist · 26/06/2018 21:40

Midis look good with knee high boots, which is not really a summer look.
