DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

Whatever it is, you need it OUT! Glass over, cardboard under, go go go to fling it out the door.

Lycanthropology · 20/06/2018 19:28

Has no one ever seen the old film "The Blob"?

DO NOT poke it, OP!

SirVixofVixHall · 20/06/2018 19:28

I imagine Snail is v dehydrated. Get him off and then put him somewhere damp, maybe wet his shell.

Bluetrews25 · 20/06/2018 19:28

Come on, get your big girl pants on and woman up!.
Washing up gloves if you must, get a chair to stand on, cover whatever it is with a glass, the darn thing is only small!, and push a card underneath it. Have DCs nearby to open doors or windows for you to take it outside.
You can do this!
You have grown an entire new human being, (possibly) pushed said human out of your fanjo, and cleared up a poonami or two.Are you seriously trying to tell me you will not shift this little thing that is threatening your child in her room? Where is that protective mother instinct? Where is that strong, capable woman?!

Stompythedinosaur · 20/06/2018 19:28

I would remove with a glass and card I think. It doesn't look like a wasp nest to me.

Sugarhouse · 20/06/2018 19:29

When I turn the picture side on it definitely looks like a snail.

DrFoxtrot · 20/06/2018 19:29

To save the panic of it moving by itself you’ll need to poke it. Then give it to me to leave on my XMILs porch.

tastylancs · 20/06/2018 19:29

Cleaners were here on Monday so it can’t have been here then. It’s really not very big. Might see if I can get something in to give it perspective. My photos are really zoomed in. God I’m itching all over.

It looks like a snail haha

Queenofthestress · 20/06/2018 19:30

It's a snail that's been coughed up at a hairball, suck it up and bloody move it woman

shinycat · 20/06/2018 19:30

Do you not agree that it's a snail @tastylancs ?

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 19:30

Zoom to the top of it and look to the left, looks like the ridgy soft bit on a slithery snail

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 19:31

If it's a snail, I'm massively impressed it's gone all the way to the top of the ceiling.

CottonSock · 20/06/2018 19:32

I never did see a snail looking anything like that

Tinkobell · 20/06/2018 19:32

Could this be a little Nightjar chick that fledged (window left open at night?) and became disorientated? Be careful scooping into a nice cosy box OP

LeighaJ · 20/06/2018 19:33

She has now added "There's a spider called a camouflage spider which tugs all of its legs and and discard it, looks like a piece of wood or dirt... If it's a growth it's probably a fungus of some sort... Tell them to poke it to see if it comes alive"

"If it doesn't move I'm gonna go with the fungus"

"Whatever it is it needs to go"

I'm trying to get clarity on the "discard it" bit.

sunshinewithabitofdrizzle · 20/06/2018 19:33

hoover it up (shudder)

mangomama91 · 20/06/2018 19:33

I can see all three pictures
And number three is definitely snail shaped.
And you can see it's body bit underneath.
I'm on team it's a snail 🐌

tastylancs · 20/06/2018 19:34

Got to go and be a parent for a bit and do bedtime. Will then try and get further evidence. Maybe try flash photo. It’s not at all cobwebby or dusty, just plain ugly.

Cancel the cheque

Celebelly · 20/06/2018 19:35

I'm on team 'burn the house down and don't look back'

LeighaJ · 20/06/2018 19:35

This is what I suggest.

  • Protective Eye Wear or Sunglasses will do.
  • Gloves.
  • A bit of cotton wool in both nostrils or a protective mask.
  • Broom.

Use broom handle to safely poke from a distance.

Justanothernap · 20/06/2018 19:36

Calling snail, poster who drew snail shape on the picture nailed it (snailed it..? Wink )

JaretsGirlfren · 20/06/2018 19:36

I am the official spider-getter-ridder around here, home and work...but fuuuuuck that! Shock

lhastingsmua · 20/06/2018 19:36

You’re going to have to get rid of it somehow. Bit ridiculous to wait 3 days to sort it, it will just end up hiding somewhere else in your house then! I hate bugs and snails too but you’re the only person that can sort it out really, unless you manage to convince your kids to
