DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

I’m going to have to install the app to see the pics

Thymelord · 20/06/2018 19:21

It couldn't be more clearly a snail. You can see the shell. It's just got a dusty or cobwebby shell. You can even see it's foot on the top left.

Laiste · 20/06/2018 19:21

Maybe you can only see the photos if you're in Lancashire Confused

Tinkobell · 20/06/2018 19:21

I reckon it was a giant moth...just out and about looking for love. Only you were out so he had to pupate prematurely! Have a heart op!

tastylancs · 20/06/2018 19:22

Mia could it possibly we the beginnings of a swallows nest? We’ve had a lot of swallows here recently.

Can you get really close and take another pic? Even if it’s on the end of a selfie stick or something? Or zoom in big and take another photo?

SirVixofVixHall · 20/06/2018 19:23

I think snail too. I think he has been crushed so that stuff has stuck to his shell, but has managed to crawl up the wall. It isn’t a nest, they don’t stick to walls like that. He is a poor, injured snail who needs to be outside eating rhubarb.

PippilottaLongstocking · 20/06/2018 19:23

It looks like it’s covered in cobwebs, poor thing

Tinkobell · 20/06/2018 19:24

It really does look like a vertically mounted zoo turd with a crust of mould....perhaps a zebra or giraffe wandered by?

Failingat40 · 20/06/2018 19:24

It's a Haggis!!!

Rarely seen outside of their native Scotland I believe Grin

shinycat · 20/06/2018 19:24

Defo a snail after seeing the last pic.

tastylancs · 20/06/2018 19:24

God you lot are making me laugh with your smints and lettuce leaves.Grin

My current panic is that next time I open the door it will just have GONE.

No I can't see the other pics, but see my screenshot for their response to the first. Grin

If it is a moth, get the glass/card and get it out (I hate the things)

We had one last year mahoooooosive thing, it was fluttering round our bedroom lampshade , I thought it was a mouse , the noise it made.

I sort of swiped at it, it flew behind DH wardrobe and its still there , a year later Shock

upsydaisydah · 20/06/2018 19:26

This is such a funny thread, it’s a bit “cancel the cheque” with reams of “it’s a snail” to which the OP is adamant it is NOT a snail. Love it.

LeighaJ · 20/06/2018 19:26

So the pest control expert also suggests poking it. Lol. I let her know after, that it's not on my wall.

DrFoxtrot · 20/06/2018 19:26

But you can see pics on the app and I’ve tried to screenshot them but they don’t seem to be uploading

Have you moved out yet OP?

Not a chance I would spend the night i a house with that!

Namechangedforthisss · 20/06/2018 19:27

👀

SirVixofVixHall · 20/06/2018 19:27

Yes, he is webby and dusty. He has been brought into the house somehow and has managed to crawl up the wall. I’ve had this in my house. They do look surprising with the webby, dirty shell, but he is just a garden snail.

hotchips · 20/06/2018 19:27

Definitely looks like a snail. They hibernate so it's probably been hiding in a dusty nook in your house all winter. Attic or somewhere.

Treesybreezy · 20/06/2018 19:27

That second pic still looks like a large garden snail, from the back end of the shell. It's the size of a large snail... Because it's a large snail. They can be absolutely festooned with crap, they hibernate over winter.

SalutingMagpies · 20/06/2018 19:27

It doesn't need a towel - FFS you'll be giving it a guest soap next. Grin

You have to catch it. What will you do if next time you go to check... it’s gone

shinycat · 20/06/2018 19:28

@tastylancs what do YOU think it is?
