If you knew he was at that moment... would you call 999?

I did. and I'm the one to blame for his prosecution according to him his friends and family and have been blacklisted. unfortunately not the first time he's done it but the first time i've known about it during. his job, life.. my life, my children's lives all affected by this. WWYHD?

You've been blacklisted for reporting him.
Confused

PuntasticUsername · 18/06/2018 22:24

You were not to blame. Presumably you didn't make the decision for him to drive drunk?

steff13 · 18/06/2018 22:27

I would call the police and then end the relationship. I don't have patience for drunk driving.

Who has been blacklisted from where?

mostdays · 18/06/2018 22:27

I very much hope I would do the right thing, as you did. Your dh and his friends and family are idiots. You are decent.

pumpkintree · 18/06/2018 22:28

You did the right thing. If or when i should he he kills or injured others or himself he would have blamed you for that and others to. i know what id rather be blamed for . Ringing the police like you did. I used to run a pub. The amount of keys i would confiscate or call the police. It was never a question of what to do just if id need to call 999. I think you have real courage. It must have been hard but well done on doing the right thing.

MissusGeneHunt · 18/06/2018 22:29

I would like to think I would do so, but it's easier to say 'yes I would' from a theoretical perspective. I think you did the right thing, especially if you were not in a position to persuade him not to before he got in the car.

If they've blacklisted you, they clearly can't see what may have happened had there have been an incident. Their shortcomings, not yours.

Blacklisted? By the family?

LexieLulu · 18/06/2018 22:29

I would but I would never admit that I had called. Let them think they were a random spot check x

Hissy · 18/06/2018 22:30

You absolutely did the right thing. Please don’t allow anyone to make you think otherwise

Greyponcho · 18/06/2018 22:31

Dear OP,
Thank you for doing this,
From the people he didn’t get chance to kill.

notmyusername321 · 18/06/2018 22:39

blacklisted as in 'thrown out' of 'the circle'. not a great feeling even though I know he is in the wrong. according to them all, my children's family, I should be grovelling for forgiveness.

Squeegle · 18/06/2018 22:41

You did the right thing. I can tell it must be really uncomfortable for you. But he is wrong; his decision could have killed someone. I’m sorry you have been isolated.

Squeegle · 18/06/2018 22:41

Have you left him? I think it would be hard to carry on living with him.

notmyusername321 · 18/06/2018 22:42

more than anyone else i am suffering the consequences of his actions (and my actions), loss of income and the breakup of my children's family. and on top I'm being punished by being blamed by his friends and fMily.

OP posts:
notmyusername321 · 18/06/2018 22:42

@Squeegle he left me before i got the chance to leave him!

Blue2017 · 18/06/2018 22:42

My best friend who was more like a sister, a lovely young girl I loved so much died in a car crash where drink was involved, you did the right thing op!! Drink drivers shouldn't get away with it xx

Monday55 · 18/06/2018 22:43

I would have done an anonymous call too to report him, rather than rubbing it all in his face. But then that depends on the relationship you have with him.

notmyusername321 · 18/06/2018 22:44

i'm starting to believe i've been disloyal and deserve to suffer though. my children though do not.

OP posts:
notmyusername321 · 18/06/2018 22:46

@Monday55 unfortunately because of the way it happened the police made it obvious it was me.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 18/06/2018 22:47

Disloyal? No.
Imagine the suffering that a family would go through of he had an accident and killed someone.
And your kids would suffer then too.
What a bloody weird reaction from his family. Do they all have issues with alcohol?

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 18/06/2018 22:48

Yes. My husband almost did and I said if he started the engine I will immediately ring 999 and he knew I was serious so he threw the keys and went for a walk.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 18/06/2018 22:48

Arseholes, the lot of them

ObiJuanKenobi · 18/06/2018 22:48

I reported by ex for drug driving. I never saw him again after that day but he also never had the opportunity to kill someone. A win win!

notmyusername321 · 18/06/2018 22:48

@Monday55 then came round banging on my door in the middle of the night to make sure i hadn't been murdered by him!

OP posts:
ObiJuanKenobi · 18/06/2018 22:49

The more you write about him/then the more convinced I am he is a complete cunt (sorry) and you are better off without him.
Don't look down on this, look up.
You have now presented yourself with a wonderful opportunity to be with someone brilliant, and not someone so selfish.
