to be annoyed at eating sausages for lunch

i buy sausages and divide them into 4, since our dc are older and in and out and not sure if they will be home.
so i defrost for whoever is home for an Evening Meal

DH announces, he will have a sausage sandwich for lunch, or a couple of sausages for breakfast, like a bloody king!
AIBU to attempt to restrict this reckless behaviour?

There was a thread on here where a poster had 8 sausages for three days. Her fella ate them all for breakfast and lunch. Was that you OP?

bobstersmum · 18/06/2018 19:13

King sausage

2blueshoes · 18/06/2018 19:17

His majesty is BU if it means you've got to go out and buy something else for dinner or are on a strict budget.

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 18/06/2018 19:40

Buy more sausages and stop being so tight fisted

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 18/06/2018 19:46

Our lot all have hollow legs, sausages are a mere starter for these princlings. Replace with Quorn Sausages and they will respect your rationing a lot more.

tash7779 · 18/06/2018 19:51

Are you for real?
How is he behaving like a ‘bloody king’ by having sausages for breakfast?!

winniestone37 · 18/06/2018 19:54

It's a sausage stop losing sleep over it - quite frankly tbis comes across as a little weird.

caringcarer · 18/06/2018 19:59

Just buy two packet of sausages or keep spare packet or two in freezer. They are not expensive and surely a staple for breakfast along with, dare I say it, bacon and eggs and a couple of hash browns and spoonful of bakes beans for good measure. Lots of Kings and Queens in our house. Sausages are meant to be eaten. What does it matter if he eats it for breakfast , lunch or dinner?

Crazyunicornlady · 18/06/2018 20:00

It’s fair enough to budget the sausages if you are meal planning carefully and DH should respect that.

Not a huge sausage fan myself but someone here mentioned corned beef hash...mmmmmm

SeasonedMummy · 18/06/2018 20:07

We are on a massively tight budget. I hate restricting food but it must be done to ensure we are all fed proper meals. My husband always checks that something is going ‘spare’ and if it’s not, i.e. it’s for lunch or dinner, he will happily find something else to snack on. The kids check with me (as chief meal planner) before they dive into the cupboards. I cannot wait for the days we don’t have to do this.. some people want diamonds, I long for cupboards of food that anybody can eat at any time! 🤣

So yes, if it was for that reason I would say you’re not being unreasonable but if it’s just control then maybe you are slightly.

ToftyAC · 18/06/2018 20:10

What on Earth lol? Sausage is an anytime food.

susej · 18/06/2018 20:10

I am SHOCKED sausages aren’t an evening meal food????? WHAT Grin

Does everyone have them for breakfast? Anyone eat them for dinner? How strange!

DwangelaForever · 18/06/2018 20:10

OMG I thought it was just me who gets wound up at this type of behaviour!!! I meal plan the hell out of my week, sometimes I will even plan a beige freezer meal if I know dinner timings will be tight. Hubby works from home and sees no big deal with opening a packet of chicken chargrills or fish fingers that were meant specifically for one nights dinner and eating them for lunch. His reaction "Oh just buy more" how about no, I have meal planned the entire week and budgeted, have a cheese sandwhich and sit down Grin

Sorry it just makes me so ragey!!!!!!!!!!

DwangelaForever · 18/06/2018 20:13

Ps people saying buy more sausages and calling you tight fisted can piss off.

PunishmentSnart · 18/06/2018 20:17

Has anyone else seen the word sausage so many times it’s starting to look a bit strange?

Sausage. Sausage. Funny old word.

PunishmentSnart · 18/06/2018 20:18

P.s. sausages can be proper meals.. does nobody do a good ol’ sausage casserole?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 18/06/2018 20:34

I'm a meal planner and people always check with me in our house before they snack on food that is not designated as snack food. It would be unthinkable for someone to randomly snaffle a sausage because they are always for meals.

I'm not totally evil though; I do sometimes buy sausages purely for weekend sausage sandwiches.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 18/06/2018 20:36

And in our case it's not so much about budget as about someone having to drive to the shop.

Thorsbitontheside · 18/06/2018 20:40

PunishmentSnart
Sausage, sausage, sausage....
GrinGrin

Thorsbitontheside · 18/06/2018 20:41

Sausage and chorizo casserole is one of my fave proper meals.

GahWhatever · 18/06/2018 20:49

So the Tesco shopping came. DH left the football to help me heft the crates into the kitchen to unload them. 'Why on earth do we have all these sausages? It's something to do with the bloody sausage king on Mumsnet isn't it? You are so easily led!'

And he is completely correct Grin Thanks goodness for the freezer!

LemonysSnicket · 18/06/2018 20:49

Just defrost more in the microwave? Takes about 6 minutes.

Slartybartfast · 18/06/2018 20:51

Grin I wish I had shares in sausages

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 18/06/2018 20:55

I could murder a sausage now, with brown sauce and an egg in a soft scotch nap!

ton181 · 18/06/2018 21:01

If he eats them, then he will have a smaller dinner ……….
