to be annoyed at eating sausages for lunch

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 11:34

i buy sausages and divide them into 4, since our dc are older and in and out and not sure if they will be home.
so i defrost for whoever is home for an Evening Meal

DH announces, he will have a sausage sandwich for lunch, or a couple of sausages for breakfast, like a bloody king!
AIBU to attempt to restrict this reckless behaviour?

OP posts:
Bluesheep8 · 18/06/2018 21:04

sausage police Grin OP is obviously Sergeant Sausage then! This is so funny Grin

SidSparrow · 18/06/2018 21:08

Poor bloke

LucyEmma89 · 18/06/2018 21:14

Reckless behaviour?! Wow! Does he not go out and earn a living in order to be able to buy such “luxuries” in the first place? I understand if you come home and what’s been defrosted specifically for tea has been eaten, I’d be annoyed at that. But I have a meal plan on my fridge and my OH can see what we are having so would know not to eat it. Otherwise what is so “reckless” or king like about eating a bloody sausage? Do you treat him like one of your kids?

Raven88 · 18/06/2018 21:17

My mum was the same. She would get so annoyed if we ate the tea ingredients.

WTFiswrongwithpeople · 18/06/2018 21:31

I’m having a bowl of cereal for dinner. Why? Because no one can tell me not to.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 18/06/2018 21:32

He ate a sausage for lunch?!!??!!? CUNT.

Sebbies · 18/06/2018 21:34

It never fails to amaze me how many people get really huffy about threads that are clearly light hearted Grin I totally get you OP, we have certain food here that’s tea food and dinner food. My DH said he fancied chilli for dinner today, that’s quite clearly a tea time food. He got a ham wrap instead Grin

I want a sausage butty now though. I don’t have any sausages in and it’s too late to add them to my online shop for tomorrow Sad

NotUmbongoUnchained · 18/06/2018 21:35

have certain food here that’s tea food and dinner food

Why??

NataliaOsipova · 18/06/2018 21:41

What the fuck was he meant to do with them? Turn them into a conceptual art installation?

I'm dying here.....😂😂

irregularegular · 18/06/2018 21:42

Well I must be really odd, because I wouldn't be impressed either if DH ate the sausages. I plan meals and do the cooking. I tend not to have extra in. Sausages, mash, onion gravy and veg is absolutely a dinner. We almost never eat sausages for breakfast, and only for lunch if left over from dinner the night before. If DH ate sausages for lunch, we'd be a meal short, and that would be annoying. He would never do it.

It's not a matter of money, we earn much more than the average, but I plan meals so there is little waste and if people eat the dinner food it messes things up.

irregularegular · 18/06/2018 21:44

And while I have more than enough money to just go out and buy more sausages, I really don't have the time. If he replaced them that would be OK I guess, but just isn't really what we do.

manicmij · 18/06/2018 21:49

Divide the pack in four? Must be some size of pack you can do that with. Unless the sausages are out specifically for a meal then why not have for breakfast or sandwich for lunch. YABU.

Offendedofsurrey · 18/06/2018 21:56

Have you considered frozen sausages?
Cook directly from the freezer so you can just get more out.

3luckystars · 18/06/2018 21:57

This should be in Take a Break.

Barry devoured my posh bangers.

MyKingdomForBrie · 18/06/2018 22:01

Have extra sausages in the freezer. Jesus if I fancied sausages for lunch I’d have them, can’t get my head around the idea that he is told what he can and can’t eat like a child.

PamPooveysCow · 18/06/2018 22:10

You’re cheese royalty, but you don’t understand sausage royalty??

Oh dear!

BurpeesAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 18/06/2018 22:15

I haven't had this much sausage on my phone since the day I joined tinder.

Misses the point

strawberrisc · 18/06/2018 22:23

Oh I wish I had your problems.

BusterGonad · 19/06/2018 00:14

Burpees 😂

BrutusMcDogface · 19/06/2018 08:21

It's not a matter of money, we earn much more than the average,

and while I have more than enough money to just go out and buy more sausages

Hmm
Libbie001 · 19/06/2018 10:08

Sorry but I think you need to get out more or find a hobby.

I have so many things to worry / think about that I would not stress about this. I would just buy more sausages. If I thought they were going to go off in the fridge, I would find a way of using them up so they don't go to waste.

BrutusMcDogface · 19/06/2018 11:37

Libbie obviously missed the update re: budget. This thread was funny but is getting on my nerves now!

(Note to self: you do not have to read it......)

LeighaJ · 19/06/2018 11:42

I don't eat sausages, my husband does, I don't care what time of day he eats them. Hmm

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/06/2018 12:17

Oh yes, the standard Mumsnet 'never had to think about budgeting, just buy more food' response to a (usually) DH who hoovers up all the expensive food without a thought for affordability or whether it was supposed to be for a main meal for everyone Hmm.

There's also the health aspect - processed meat like sausages are supposed to be eaten occasionally not all the time, due to the increased risk of bowel cancer.

CosyLulu · 19/06/2018 12:24

Can't beat a crispy sausage sandwich with brown sauce. Any time of the day.
