to be annoyed at eating sausages for lunch

i buy sausages and divide them into 4, since our dc are older and in and out and not sure if they will be home.
so i defrost for whoever is home for an Evening Meal

DH announces, he will have a sausage sandwich for lunch, or a couple of sausages for breakfast, like a bloody king!
AIBU to attempt to restrict this reckless behaviour?

depends on the sausage

to be annoyed at eating sausages for lunch
Mrsharrison · 17/06/2018 14:38

Give Ronnie the fucking sausage!

MrsMint · 17/06/2018 14:40

YAB slightly U! Sausages are meant to be for breakfast usually! Let him enjoy his sausey sandwich!

Celticlassie · 17/06/2018 14:40

There's a lot of sausage angst going on on mumsnet today.

StaplesCorner · 17/06/2018 14:43

I'm failing at Mumsnet today. Is this a jokey thread? Because I have been hard up to the point where someone deciding have that food for breakfast would mean someone would have to miss a meal later on.

StaplesCorner · 17/06/2018 14:46

I can't imagine my partner ever telling me that I'm "not allowed" to eat whatever I want for whatever meal I fancy. Not having a dig at this poster in particular, others have said similar things, but this made me feel sad, thinking of all the times we only had exactly the right amount of food for each meal and even then it was pretty crap. So yes, eating extra or at the wrong time wouldn't be "allowed" in my house under those circumstances Sad.

spontaneousgiventime · 17/06/2018 14:50

Not had sausages for ages, I really fancy some now

Celticlassie · 17/06/2018 14:51

Even if it's not about money, it's about meal planning. If I had planned to cook something for tea, and half of it was eaten, we'd maybe have nothing else in, or I'd have all the other bits of the sausage meal, but nothing else. Its inconsiderate to the person who does the cooking.

Deathraystare · 17/06/2018 14:58

I had three for lunch today. A veggie sausage sandwich with dijon mustard and HP sauce and onions on pappy white bread. A meal for a Queen (albeit a low class one!!)

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 17/06/2018 15:06

I buy a frozen pack of 20/30 (can't remember)Richmond sausages cook in the oven from frozen

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 15:15

Can I add that it wasnt today, it is a midwork occurrence.
i used to buy bags of Tesco frozen sausages but prefer Waitrose or Sainsbury or even Asda, pack of 8. I am fussy. Yes no doubt controlling, have only read a bit of the thread, will read it now

If you had a set amount of sausages for dinner and he ate half of them, then of course he is BU. If you have plenty of sausages and he just decided he wants some for breakfast or lunch too, then YABVU

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 15:26

thanks for the jokey replies Grin
glad it went that way.

it is down to meal planning and yes I am keeping a close eye on the budget.

it is rather the sausage that broke the camel's back. I am surprised others do not restrict sausages.

I can buy a pack of 12 sausages, grill them and leave them out. As far as my family are concerned that's Open Day. Just pass by and snaffle a sausage, quick sarnie, one for the dog, and one for luck! Wink

Beamur · 17/06/2018 15:31

OP it was your comment about his 'regal' behaviour that made it funny. Hope you're not too cross really. You inspired me to have bacon butty for lunch Grin

pennylulu · 17/06/2018 15:38

Jesus wept.

Shockers · 17/06/2018 15:40

I imagine he did, but I reckon it wasn’t over sausages.

Yogagirl123 · 17/06/2018 15:43

😂 yr DH is very decadent expecting such luxury but as is Father’s Day perhaps his extreme extravagance should be allowed as a one-off mind. Who knows how it will end up otherwise, he might like to try a steak sandwich tomorrow lunchtime!

Nanasueathome · 17/06/2018 15:48

So...clarify for me....you buy a pack of 8 sausages and divide it by 4 ...so 2 in a portion?
How many people does 2 sausages serve for a meal?

Thesearepearls · 17/06/2018 15:49

We do have heated debates about sausages at home. Usually it's around sausage preferences. DD likes those pink slimey Richmond things and I refuse to buy them. I used to go for the ones with pictures of green wellies on them but they don't seem to be around now so I'm going for the organic thingies

I'd be interested to hear your DH's take on the right sort of sausage. He sounds like a man in the know. Being sausage royalty and all.

GahWhatever · 17/06/2018 15:51

I have just done my tescos online order.
OP you are entirely to blame for the fact I've just spent £20 on sausages...we'll be eating the damn things for ever. They had so many types on special offer, so I bought a pack of each!

Goldenbug · 17/06/2018 15:52

Willy nilly sausage usage should be stamped down upon. YANBU.

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 15:52

Grin @thesearepearls

i think he hankers after a square sausage, i might ask him, but he is rather cross today

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 15:53

Thing is now I have no idea how many sausages we have in the darn freezer.

i freeze them in pairs, or fours,

he says he is quite happy with ordinary pork

OP posts:
Sirzy · 17/06/2018 15:58

Surely you can open the freezer and look how many you have? Confused
