to be annoyed at eating sausages for lunch

i buy sausages and divide them into 4, since our dc are older and in and out and not sure if they will be home.
so i defrost for whoever is home for an Evening Meal

DH announces, he will have a sausage sandwich for lunch, or a couple of sausages for breakfast, like a bloody king!
AIBU to attempt to restrict this reckless behaviour?

Sausages are not an evening meal unless toad in the hole with mash, cabbage & onion gravy. HTH

Oh noes, we are doing it wrong.

Oh well.

I must admit, I thought this was a joke thread, but since the OP has updated, and mentioned its a budgeting/meal planning issue, I will take it seriously.

OP you need to get a big bag of frozen sausages like these or if money is really, really tight then even these. You can cook from frozen, so no need to portion up, freeze and defrost, and they are cheap,so your husband can breakfast or lunch like a king whenever he wants.

(of course you could buy nicer sausages hidden at the back of the freezer, and also a pack of the smart price which he can use freely for his regal breakfasting habits)

Cleanermaidcook · 17/06/2018 16:03

Oops I'm doing sausages for tea - and it's a Sunday! Didnt know it wasn't an evening meal! They'll come with mash, veg and gravy.
Op I'm cooking 14 he can have one of mine 😀
On a more serious note I'd be annoyed if he knew they were for a specific meal and we were watching the budget.

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 16:04

prefer it was kept lighthearted.
it was light hearted, in a way.
thanks all.

I do think this thread would not be complete without this clip from That's Life about sausages

LockedOutOfMN · 17/06/2018 16:12

OP defrosted/didn't freeze a specific amount of sausages as they were needed for a family meal. If DP wanted sausages, he could have defrosted his own.

Slartybartfast · 17/06/2018 16:16

I buy them when they are on offer, btw and freeze in portions.

I can't imagine my partner ever telling me that I'm "not allowed" to eat whatever I want for whatever meal I fancy.

Then lucky you, you've never been poor.

ShesABelter · 17/06/2018 16:22

"I am surprised no one else restricts sausage" my dh does sometimes if he is in a huff with me. I never have sausage for breakfast tho more a late night snack.

Idontevencareanymore · 17/06/2018 16:24

I buy the cheap frozen ones for sausage sandwiches.

I splurge on the Tesco finest ones when they're on offer for actual meals. Such a treat.

I imagine he did, but I reckon it wasn’t over sausages.

Might have. Maybe he'd planned to use them for the last supper but that traitorous bastard Judas had them for breakfast.

Starlight345 · 17/06/2018 16:43

My Ds has been away with the scouts for the weekend . Came home with half a portion of battered sausage , chips and gravy . I smiled and said oh sausage for lunch . He thinks I have gone a little crazy

JurassicBark · 17/06/2018 16:44

To be Frank, things could be a lot Wurst.

TheSausageEmperor · 17/06/2018 16:48

Dunno why I wrote breakfast, meant lunch.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 17/06/2018 17:09

Thank God I have a packet of (Vegetarian Cauldron) sausages in the fridge!

Unfortunately I’m low carbing so no sandwiches for me. Sausages and brocolli probably...not quite the same 😖

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 17/06/2018 17:25

YANBU if he chose to eat something specifically set aside for dinner but there's nothing intrinsically wrong or reckless about eating sausages for lunch and if that's your issue you sound like a bit of a lunatic. Could you not just tell him they were for dinner specifically?

lynmilne65 · 17/06/2018 18:57

Last time I left 6 sausages out to defrost the cats ate them !😡

topcat2014 · 17/06/2018 19:03

We buy sausages that are already frozen, so no defrosting worries.

they are a bit of a staple here too

lynmilne65 · 17/06/2018 19:16

Shockers lol 😁😁😁

lynmilne65 · 17/06/2018 19:19

They were frozen which is why I was defrosting them 🙄🙄
