I took on the mantle to start another thread. If that is not allowed, Mods delete the thread, I am not sure of the protocol. But it certainly is an interesting discussion!

If allowed to stay as my OP, let's go!

OP posts:
keyboardkate · 14/06/2018 21:38

Ghost of...

Yes Theresa May was Foreign Minister and chose not to impose the EU rules on EU immigrants, FFS.

I am sorry but I am a total cynic now as to the reasons for Brexit.

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 14/06/2018 21:38

@keyboardkate

Good for you. But what do you think about those who are not prepared

I cant do anything about that, the poor and the elderly swung this vote and it ll be me and other remainers who will forced to pay extra taxes because of their decision.
its already happening, hi inflation, low consumer confidence, the high street job losses, RR and 4k laid off, extra money for the NHS ...all will have to paid for by tax payers, who far and away voted to remain, the feckless and those who are not net contributors voted to leave, subsidised as always by the middle classes as it wont be the likes of Farage, BJ or JRM who ll pay more, they ll have accountants to see to that.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:38

So if I don’t like the fact my local high street is suddenly a weird other world of Eastern European shops that makes me racist?

lostinsunshine · 14/06/2018 21:39

I brought up NI them on here on every bloody thread I could find pre referendum.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:40

Then why didn’t we?

Ask your beloved Theresa, she was Home Sec for 6 years.

And if immigration was planned, why are communities like Boston in Lincolnshire unrecognisable?

What does unrecognisable mean? They have non British people? And you wonder why people say the was touch of bigotry involved in the leave vote.

clumsyduck · 14/06/2018 21:42

Well I'm not prepared . Just at graduation age as the recession hit and couldnt get a job . just about sorted now house etc etc , no doubt get fucked over again 👍🏻

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:43

Jasjas

That is all nonsense

Where are the runs on the banks, the riots on the streets and the army deployed nationally? Those are the real hallmarks of a failing state, not your fictional account that is impossible to meaningfully separate from routine economic activity

MongerTruffle · 14/06/2018 21:43

Then why didn’t we?
I'll tell you why. The government recognises that immigration from the EEA and Switzerland is vital to the UK economy.

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/06/2018 21:44

Heyduggeesflipflop

I assume from your post that you are from somewhere near Boston?

I remember the place before it was forced to become a multicultural center. (and forced is the correct term), I remember the issues that it has and still causes.

But For those that come from a multicultural city (London etc.) it sounds like heaven.

MongerTruffle · 14/06/2018 21:44

Ask your beloved Theresa, she was Home Sec for 6 years.

I would also like to point out this:

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:44

I will take a punt here and suggest you live in London rather than a traditional market town in the country. You’re asking the question suggests you see nothing wrong with a place like Boston

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:45

Very little was said about NI, neither side particularly thought to bring it up. this has been pointed out by NI and ROI since.

It was mentioned, you clearly didn't pay attention.

Job losses don't matter that much when you don't have a job, or are minimum wage or zero hours.

The EU don't control wage levels or zero hour contracts in the UK. The UK gov does.

The country being worse off remains to be seen and quite a few of the experts have now back tracked on their projections.

Not the government or CBI though.

And I covered both project fear and Aaron banks' emotions and slogans in the bullshit part of my post.

and yet still happy to be associated with a campaign based on bullshit.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:46

Boneyback

You may have a point there - truly the uk is two countries - London and everywhere else!

HunterofStars · 14/06/2018 21:46

In September, I plan to enrol in some college courses and try and get a better job with excellent skills. I intend to leave the UK within the next 5 years. I have no love or respect for this country.

I think Brexit is going to be a complete disaster. We are almost two years past the referendum and no progress has been made. I blame Cameron for all this.

I asked my leave voting family, friends and colleagues about what would happen if we didn't get a deal. Needless to say they just said I was being dramatic and it would all be ok. Hmm.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:47

Ghost of - does this mean zero hours contracts are just a feature of the uk and exist nowhere else in the eu?

By god you are selective and will try any nonsense

MongerTruffle · 14/06/2018 21:48

Job losses don't matter that much when you don't have a job, or are minimum wage or zero hours.

That's definitely going to improve after brexit. Hmm

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/06/2018 21:49

GhostofFrankGrimes

and yet still happy to be associated with a campaign based on bullshit.

that you associate me with the campaign is an issue that you will have to come to terms with.

I see both sides very clearly, that I remember things differently to you is because I am positioned centrally in this and have no firm bias either way.

Neither side covered themselves in glory in this. Neither side had a healthy respect for those that would be voting and both sides put forward bullshit stances that no-one IMO should be happy to be associated with.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:49

No I live in leave voting area with virtually zero immigration. Although I'm a "blow in" from another part of the country seen as an outsider by the natives! Strange world.

I don't see anything wrong with Boston. Demographics change. Society changes. People used to think the Windrush generation would take the natives jobs. They didn't. History repeating. Sadly.

Iflyaway · 14/06/2018 21:50

@Iflyaway when it came to voting leave no i thought about what was going to be best for me and my family, as that is what my vote was for.
I don't like the EU, why would i vote to stay just for people i don't know or have never met? Of course I am going to vote based on how it will affect me.^

Any kids, or their friends, neighbours/local kids who may have a chance to work in a global world? Freedom of movement. Study, --get a house where they work cos they have the same rights while in the EU?.

Haha, how the fuck do you even know "HOW IT WILL AFFECT (you) ME?"

You only need a quick short look at the Government, no one knows the fuck how it will affect ANYONE!

And as for "voting for people I have never met". Hey! Guess you have met EVERONE in UK then! Hmm

What a larf. We live in a globalised world. Which is most people YOU HAVE NEVER MET!

Can't help feeling that most Brexiteers still live in the 50's or some historical Grand Empire... while being cast adrift off in Little England while we get on with the 21st Century.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:51

Ghost of - does this mean zero hours contracts are just a feature of the uk and exist nowhere else in the eu?

The op cited the above as problems. How will Brexit fix it?

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/06/2018 21:52

MongerTruffle

I have no idea whether it will improve or not, But the point is that for some people it can't get worse.

I'm not sure why some people can't see that.

clumsyduck · 14/06/2018 21:53

They can see it but they don't give a shit because it's not happening to them

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:53

I have no idea whether it will improve or not, But the point is that for some people it can't get worse.

Things can always get worse. Brexit isn't going to make things better is it?

pipkinport · 14/06/2018 21:53

iflyaway have you been at the Port? you seem v angry tonight.

I'm ready for Brexit, hard and happy or soft and soppy.

I was in TK Maxx today and bought some of their fudge at the checkout (plus a new top).

I'm ready as I'll ever be.

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/06/2018 21:54

GhostofFrankGrimes

History repeating. Sadly.

I agree, and it will keep happening.
