I took on the mantle to start another thread. If that is not allowed, Mods delete the thread, I am not sure of the protocol. But it certainly is an interesting discussion!

If allowed to stay as my OP, let's go!

Buteo

If it helps I can offer some cash towards your own house extension. I don’t have much but jealousy, as they say, is the thief of joy and I hate to see you down like this

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:19

Do you realise how corrosive it will be when Britain gradually realises we are paying into something with no say? Either now or later, a proper Brexit is merely a matter of time

When people see how much poorer they will be, even with a soft Brexit, I doubt it.

keyboardkate · 14/06/2018 21:21

Would never have happened if there was not a Tory threat to David Cameron from the Eurosceptics. He is and was a total fool. And it backfired.

But he and JRM and Buffoon Central and all the rest of the Brexit idiots will never have to suffer the fallout for a generation. Laughing here now, we are total mugs, well think about it. They never will be.

OP posts:
Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:21

Unfinished - I genuinely wasn’t interested in how many friends you may have but thanks for the update

Ghost of - you miss my point - there will be no return to our special eu status.

Iflyaway · 14/06/2018 21:22

@Iflyaway confusion about the future isn't a bad thing, doesn't mean the future won't be better. I have a house, a 2nd property i rent out, a job that I have 100% security in, a great private pension.*

Oh right. Do you ever think about others?

Think that is called the "I'm alright Jack" syndrome. Hmm

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:22

Keyboardkate- I agree but that still doesn’t explain the strength of the leave vote nationally does it?

Lazypuppy · 14/06/2018 21:27

@Iflyaway when it came to voting leave no i thought about what was going to be best for me and my family, as that is what my vote was for.

I don't like the EU, why would i vote to stay just for people i don't know or have never met? Of course I am going to vote based on how it will affect me.

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/06/2018 21:27

GhostofFrankGrimes

Do you absolve the remain camp from all blame in this?
they put forward no figures, no real impetus for a campaign other than no-one will vote to leave.
They decided that the best plan of attack was to call those against them silly names and hope that this plan of playground politics would sway people to their cause.

I don't dispute that leavers voted to leave, or that the leave campaign played on emotion and national symbolism and the dreams of something better for those that have sweet fuck all.

keyboardkate · 14/06/2018 21:27

Heydugg

I am not sure there was any strength really in the Leave vote.

TBH and please do not flame me, it was racism that won it.

Easy to hide in an anonymous vote. That is the reality. IMV.

OP posts:
Amanduh · 14/06/2018 21:29

Oh ffs here we go with the pure stupidity again.
‘It was racism that won it.’
Goodbye thread.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:29

Boney,

the remain campaign warned about NI, job losses, the country being worse off. Everything was shouted down as project fear.

Voters preferred slogans and emotions. Aaron Banks has said as much.

Unfinishedkitchen · 14/06/2018 21:30

I will never be part of the problem and I’ll tell you why. I come from solid working class stock and I worked my arse off in two jobs to get me through university. I then worked extremely hard without a break to get to a good position in my career and have reaped rewards. Some people I know (the leave people I know) like to say that I’ve been ‘lucky’ and have been ‘given opporunities’.

All the leave voters I know did not take education seriously and fucked about and then grew to resent others moving up. In my personal experience, and I admit it may not be the same for all, the leave vote was a hissy fit from those who made shit decisions and wanted to pull the rug out from everyone else. I despise them. Post 2019 they will be relying on people like me and DH to be the solution and pull the economy out of the toilet. I really, really resent that.

frumpety · 14/06/2018 21:30

I am not preparing for something that isn't actually going to happen Smile

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:32

Respectfully - and I do mean this despite an admitted sarcastic streak - there is a difference between disagreeing with communities upturned by uncontrolled immigration on the one hand and racism on the other.

Immigration is not bad - but it must be planned and controlled

You mean like the government could already do, but chose not to? You've probably been told that already.

IslaBoots · 14/06/2018 21:33

I have worked since I left school. My mortgage is paid for. My house is my own. Why should I be afraid of brexit? Please tell...

keyboardkate · 14/06/2018 21:34

Amanduh

Immigration is a big factor in all this.

Can you say that it isn't?

Stupidity is right!

OP posts:
Iflyaway · 14/06/2018 21:35

This has predictably turned into a clusterfuck. Normal government cannot take place because everyone is tied up in Brexit.

So true.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 14/06/2018 21:35

Ghost of

Then why didn’t we?

And if immigration was planned, why are communities like Boston in Lincolnshire unrecognisable?

Why are you still here, giving us the benefit of your naivity?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 21:35

You smug middle class remainer

If you are post grad professional you are very much middle class. I'm sure the working class will thank you when they fucked over by Brexit.

gillybeanz · 14/06/2018 21:36

We are all brexiteers, why are people talking like some people aren't Confused
You have to learn to live with the conditions of the time, moaning, spreading fear isn't going to change anything, it's a done deal.
We have to get on with it and live the life that brexit dictates.

Amanduh · 14/06/2018 21:37

Yes, because everyone who has a view on immigration, of any point at all, is racist. Ok. Hmm

BoneyBackJefferson · 14/06/2018 21:37

GhostofFrankGrimes

Very little was said about NI, neither side particularly thought to bring it up. this has been pointed out by NI and ROI since.
Job losses don't matter that much when you don't have a job, or are minimum wage or zero hours.
The country being worse off remains to be seen and quite a few of the experts have now back tracked on their projections.

And I covered both project fear and Aaron banks' emotions and slogans in the bullshit part of my post.

lostinsunshine · 14/06/2018 21:38

Spreading fear? You mean talking about concerns.
