I took on the mantle to start another thread. If that is not allowed, Mods delete the thread, I am not sure of the protocol. But it certainly is an interesting discussion!

If allowed to stay as my OP, let's go!

OP posts:

You note they didn't resign when they had to get a taxi home from Chequers. They waited until they got back to London.

ShatnersWig · 09/07/2018 15:18

No. If they actually had principles, they'd have refused to back the plan and gone at the time, not wait a couple of days, have a chat, and then resign.

They want the country all to pull together, we're all in this together, but doesn't apply to them apparently

54321go · 09/07/2018 15:18

What we need is a year 10 student to have a quick look at the legal implications of leaving and then explain it to Mrs May.

TheMonkeyMummy · 09/07/2018 15:20

It's like a carefully choreographed dance...

Confusedbeetle · 09/07/2018 15:24

Histrionics all round, Yes the govt are making a hash of it too many concessions too early. No my European friends in Italy do not thing Brexit is a mistake. I am weary that all leavers have to keep a low profile for fear of lynching

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 15:30

Not going lynch leavers. Just going to laugh at them.

topcat1980 · 09/07/2018 15:41

"I am weary that all leavers have to keep a low profile for fear of lynching"

Who lynches them? They are the majority remember? #

Its just that when they do post its always erroneous soundbite crap that is easy to refute.

TheMonkeyMummy · 09/07/2018 15:44

I wouldn't be rude to leavers. I surrounded by them. It's important to listen to each other's sides (I stopped talking politics because I get accused of being a remoaner and project fear.)

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 15:45

Can't imagine anyone trying to keep a low profile after being a mouthy gloating [insert fave word]. Or is that just some of the Leave voters I know.
Best not to discuss politics with them and let events show them up on their own.

abilockhart · 09/07/2018 15:50

Brexit means Break Shit!

Rosstac · 09/07/2018 16:31

bellinisurge And has project fear actually come true , NO

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 16:32

@Rosstac we haven't left yet. Or haven't you noticed?

jasjas1973 · 09/07/2018 16:38

No one should blame leavers, they had their reasons, as explained by the media and politicians at the time.
We all voted in what we believed would be in the best interests of the country.
IF it goes horribly wrong and there are issues with flights and import/exports next year, job losses and lower tax take, then it will be the Tory Government
Such a complex decision should not be left to the general population, who are particularly interested in politics, anymore than we are given a vote on Trident or NATO.. ...we have a government for a reason

Until today, i felt any stock piling was a complete waste of time and unnecessary but maybe its time to get that bigger freezer and start!

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 16:39

Admire your thinking @jasjas1973 but I do blame Leavers. We would not be heading over this cliff without the referendum result.
And you don't need to freeze stuff to store it. There are other preservation options. Just satin'

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 16:40

Or sayin' even Grin

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/07/2018 16:46

There's your problem right there. People let the Daily Mail and Boris Johnson do their thinking for them.

jasjas1973 · 09/07/2018 16:52

Most leavers, though not many on here! had what they considered good reasons to leave the EU, we should never ever have been given this decision to make.
We just did not have the intellect nor knowledge to decide.

I knew one guy who voted out because he didnt like the tighter emissions control on his next commercial chainsaw, he saw this as just another example of EU interference FFS!!!! but to him it was a valid reason!
My daughter having her hair cut for her Prom, overheard the 3 hairdressers say they all voted out because their parent/grandparents told them too!
Cameron should have and no doubt did realise this but choose to ignore it, he will, no doubt, be called to account, Farage should go to jail :)
Leave or remain, this is a shameful period for our once great nation.

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 16:54

Sorry @jasjas1973 . You're not convincing me on this one. Good effort, though.

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 16:55

If people weren't sure and in the absence of a specific "don't know" option, they shouldn't have voted Leave.

Rosstac · 09/07/2018 16:59

bellinisurge I think you will find it was said that in the event of a leave vote an Immediate project fear would happen, emergency budget etc you know the rest of the lies, over two years and nothing like what was predicted has happened, how much longer do you want ?

Rosstac · 09/07/2018 17:01

GhostofFrankGrimes What is it with you lot and the Daily Mail, you must read from cover to cover, I cannot remember DJ making any wild pledges before the referendum

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 17:01

So it's all going to be brilliant, then.
Let me know when that starts.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/07/2018 17:04

Ask May. She attended a function held for Paul Dacre. The editor of The Sun was at No.10 the other day.

jasjas1973 · 09/07/2018 17:28

Well, the £ plummeted, interest rates were cut to all time lows, there was an increase in amounts and period of quantitative easing, the UK s growth is a lowest of all our competitors, wages are still super low despite higher low skilled employment.

But of course, the remain campaign screwed up with Project Fear, should have focused on the positives of the EU and how much we rely on various schemes eg Europol, which affects all our security.

Brexit relied on a pack of lies too, none of which are ever going to come true.

Rosstac · 09/07/2018 17:42

jasjas1973 I hardly call it plummeted and it was back pre ref level for a while, inflation is near government target, interest rates cut a mighty 0.25% a bonus for mortgage holders, wages will never rise significantly when we have such a plentiful level of low skilled workers ( thanks FOM). Growth is slowing globally, and with tariff wars we may be heading for a recession ( which is due, every decade)
