We’re having bangers mash beans and onion gravy for tea.
She insists peas are superior to beans and gravy should never be combined with beans as you can’t have two sloppy things on the plate. She is so very very wrong.

I can see how that combo might work... am v tempted but bro is doing langoustines and vinegar potatoes tonight.

I might do bangers, mash beans and onion gravy tomorrow though.

I feel that those two meals would be pretty equal in terms of cost and effort, don't you?

Do you use Bisto?

DaisysStew · 14/06/2018 20:00

I’m horrified by some of the responses on here. Both baked beans and gravy are the food of Gods - just not together.

And gravy very much belongs on chips, with some lovely buttered bread to mop up the remains. You don’t know what you’re missing.

ilovepixie · 14/06/2018 20:04

You don't have beans and gravy. Beans good, gravy good but not together!

ModreB · 14/06/2018 20:05

Can I just raise the bar a little.

Beans and gravy, with fried egg on (Warburtons toastie white) toast.

Food of the gods.

DiddimusStench · 14/06/2018 20:05

She’s completely correct. Beans and gravy?! What are you thinking?!?!

lazyarse123 · 14/06/2018 20:05

Shepherds pie, beans and gravy in our house. I'm northern.

cathcath2 · 14/06/2018 20:06

Haha - each to their own. I know someone that has gravy with pizza - which is just Shock

lashy · 14/06/2018 20:11

I'm with the colleague here.
Mash with gravy, very nice. Mash and bean juice, no thanks.
Both together?... never.

GirlfriendInAKorma · 14/06/2018 20:12

Beans and gravy?
Do you use the sausages a a dam to separate the two?

bollocksitshappenedagain · 14/06/2018 20:15

It should be bangers mash and gravy or bangers chips and beans.

Beans and mash don't go and beans and gravy definitely don't go.

GerdaLovesLili · 14/06/2018 20:18

Beans and gravy is wrong as a very wrong thing. Just no. For meal perfection you require bangers, mash, onion gravy and MUSHY peas!

bonnyshide · 14/06/2018 20:20

She's right

DarkRosaleen · 14/06/2018 20:58

Bisto ? My God are you mad?
Dusting of flour on the fried onions, crumble a chicken oxo over it and a splash of boiling water from the kettle. Dash of Worcester and some black pepper to season. Stir until blended nicely.

OP posts:
Bettyfood · 14/06/2018 23:05

Bisto is lovely with sausages.

It's rather churlish to dismiss gravy granules when you are discussing eating warmed up offal and frozen peas for your dinner. It's hardly Royal Hospital Road fayre.

Bettyfood · 14/06/2018 23:08

And anyway, if you are going to be arsed to make onion gravy, you might at least have the decency to make it with wine, and Worcester sauce has no place in it.

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 14/06/2018 23:13

thats rank

twinkletwinklelittlerainbow · 14/06/2018 23:13

Beans and gravy?! You might as well just piss on it as well!! Peas, at a push mushy peas

Unfinishedkitchen · 14/06/2018 23:21

Beans and gravy don’t go together nor do peas. Just bangers, mash and onion gravy. Anything else is wrong. YABextremeleyU.

HeartShapedBox · 15/06/2018 01:54

AnnieAnoniMouser I may not be the best judge of normal, I eat scotch pies on rolls and pour gravy on battered fish, so... 😆

SalemBlackCat · 15/06/2018 04:31

I think the gravy is supposed to be on the bangers. Not the beans. So it doesn't matter.

SalemBlackCat · 15/06/2018 04:36

Wait a minute.....what type of 'beans' are you talking about? In my mind I am picturing the long green beans you buy in the frozen foods with the frozen peas. Or are you talking about beans as in the tin liked baked beans in tomato sauce?

They are two entirely different things.

SalemBlackCat · 15/06/2018 04:53

Oh, ok I just saw your picture. I didn't think baked beans would go with mashed potato tbh. Now I think about it, no. Colleague was right. If they were green beans then yeah.

ImPreCis · 15/06/2018 05:02

I couldn’t understand the concern, green beans aren’t really that different to peas, I thought, just as good with gravy.
It hadnt even crossed my mind that you could possibly be referring to baked beans!! Shock
Wrong, just wrong on all levels OP.

Sausages mash and beans, OR sausages mash peas (with optional onion gravy).

Sausages must be cut up and the whole thing mixed up, with sausages hidden by mash so you stab into the mash at random hoping for a piece of sausage (yes I am still a child at heart!)
