We’re having bangers mash beans and onion gravy for tea.
She insists peas are superior to beans and gravy should never be combined with beans as you can’t have two sloppy things on the plate. She is so very very wrong.

Yep, another vote here for beans and gravy. De. Li. Cious.! Mix it up with the mash! Yum - and definitely beans and gravy with cottage pie. Smile

tangoed2 · 16/06/2018 00:16

Northern and absolutely, definitely, majorly no to beans and gravy 🤢 (no peas either) Just bangers and mash with a good covering of gravy.

Wobblybitts · 16/06/2018 07:01

I like baked beans with lots of the ‘bean juice’ DH likes his beans almost dry so we are completely compatible. No gravy though

jocarter67 · 16/06/2018 07:15

Next you will be telling me OP that you will be using packet smash potato and tinned marrowfat peas. I think your work colleague is very right. (Although sausages chips and gravy is deeeeeeeeeelicious )

MurielTheSheepDog · 16/06/2018 08:51

Firstly, this is not even a thing, nevermind a northern thing.
Secondly, your colleague is right. 🤮🤮🤮

PeachyPeachTrees · 16/06/2018 11:42

Wobblybitts Love how compatible you are! If we get a box of chocs, I like all the ones DH doesn't and vice versa. Works beautifully!

Cuttingthegrass · 16/06/2018 11:52

Oooooh now I want bangers and mash or toad in the hole

But neither with beans AND gravy

Colleague is right

Jojofjo44 · 16/06/2018 12:36

Beans and gravy = yum yum. I'd do a pile of mash, make a well down the centre, put the sausages in that and pour beans over one half and gravy over the other. Then mix and match each mouthful.
I need this now.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 16/06/2018 14:10

Mmmmm beans and onion gravy. Delicious

Serenitymummy · 16/06/2018 23:22

As a baked bean hater I can’t believe I’m saying this, but, if we have cottage pie DH and DS will always have beans with it, and even though I’ll go nowhere near it I can see how it goes. That’s gravy and beans right?!

Brieonabagel · 16/06/2018 23:42

Sausage, mash and beans or sausage, mash, peas and gravy! Never sausage, mash, beans and gravy! NEVER!! AngryConfused

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 16/06/2018 23:44

What a disproportionate fuss about beans & gravy
Bet some of you get in a tizz about food touching or some such other affectation

TheDowagerCuntess · 16/06/2018 23:49

It's light-hearted.

DrCoconut · 16/06/2018 23:58

Pie, mash or chips with gravy and mushy peas or baked beans Grin. Addition of either of the last two constitutes healthy eat round here Halo

Birdsgottafly · 17/06/2018 00:05

Having Beans is just like putting tomato sauce on, so it's fine.

I opt for peas, but usually have cabbage, or spinach, as well.

It's the brown/red sauce debate, in another form.

Frazzled74 · 17/06/2018 22:37

Sausage , mash , green beans and gravy! Not baked beans and gravy!

InsomniacAnonymous · 17/06/2018 22:51
