We’re having bangers mash beans and onion gravy for tea.
She insists peas are superior to beans and gravy should never be combined with beans as you can’t have two sloppy things on the plate. She is so very very wrong.

Its peas and gravy you dirty bastard.

Grin
drumandthebass · 14/06/2018 17:20

Gravy and baked beans is so so wrong

ResistanceIsNecessary · 14/06/2018 17:22

We're having bangers and mash with peas and gravy tonight. I love beans and I'd put gravy on just about anything - but together? Nope!

musicinthe00ssucks · 14/06/2018 17:23

Sorry but YABU and gross!

TattyFrench · 14/06/2018 17:24

If anyone of you is working in Greenwich, or know anyone who is, could you get them to get me a take away pie and mash. Please. Please.

YetAnotherNewName1000 · 14/06/2018 17:26

Yabu. Beans and gravy on a plate together should never happen.

Jimdandy · 14/06/2018 17:28

I’m with your colleague. Never two wet foods tofether

agedknees · 14/06/2018 17:28

Yabvu. Beans and gravy = disgusting.

Dodie66 · 14/06/2018 17:31

She doesn’t say baked beans. She might mean green beans

Quirkyturkey · 14/06/2018 17:33

Neither. It should be bangers, mash, onion gravy (with lots of onions) and cabbage.

mimibunz · 14/06/2018 17:33

Perhaps she was encouraged to eat her green veg by pouring gravy on top?

TheOrigFV45 · 14/06/2018 17:33

Dodie She does state that both (the beans and the gravy) are sloppy so unless she has done Bad Things to green beans I think we can assume baked beans.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 14/06/2018 17:37

Beans and gravy? What is wrong with you? Angry Beans with caramelised onions, that's different. But ffs, not gravy.

Peas and onion gravy, however, sounds wonderful.

DPotter · 14/06/2018 17:41

Now I have no problem with beans and gravy, but never chips and gravy together (and yes DP & DD I'm looking at you both.....).
Beans and mash with gravy - manna from heaven!

Fluffyears · 14/06/2018 17:48

Beans and gravy is wrong on so many levels and i’m not fussy.

GnomeDePlume · 14/06/2018 17:50

beans and gravy and mash?

That's just some weird soup!

(and soup is just wrong anyway)

DarkRosaleen · 14/06/2018 17:53

Yep. I’m Northern.
Resolutely gravely beanly bangers and mashly Northern.

OP posts:
lalaloopyhead · 14/06/2018 17:54

Beans and gravy? Absolutely not!! Totally wrong, and very sloppy surely?

Peas and gravy are the only things should go with sausage and mash. Your colleague is correct and you are BVU.

lhastingsmua · 14/06/2018 17:59

Sounds vile

So does ‘tea’

TheMagnoliaTree · 14/06/2018 17:59

I am also Northern but no way on God's earth would I put beans with onion gravy.

This screams intervention. This is not normal Grin

In our house it is sausages, mash and onion gravy. We add fried red onions and a dash of balsamic to the gravy.

acornsandnuts · 14/06/2018 17:59

I’m northern, honestly that is no excuse. Naaaasssty.

DinoGreen · 14/06/2018 18:00

I’m absolutely with your colleague. My DH however is with you and would not only have beans and gravy but ALSO ketchup. Bleugh.

bumblingbovine49 · 14/06/2018 18:05

ewww

mash potatoes, beans and gravy is mushy food at its worst. I would have to be starving to eat it but than I am a mad bint who doesn't like gravy or mash, let alone together -eww so sloppy. I don't like baked beans much either

So all in all, your colleague is right in that peas are better than baked beans but for me I would just want a plate of peas with no mash, beans or worst of all - gravy

Maelstrop · 14/06/2018 18:09

Remove beans, leave gravy on menu. YABmassivelyU!

maitaimojito · 14/06/2018 18:22

She’s right.

I wouldn’t consider beans with mash as I can’t eat mash without gravy.
